"I could believe that." Sophie murmured. Howl could spin a tale like no other if it painted him in a good light. Oh, spoke too soon, she thought. Was it really so bad when he couldn't remember?
Gertie stretched her arms out infront of her and rolled her shoulders. "Well then, lets get practicing! Your still young, so it's likely you'll make some mistakes, but if you keep working at it, you'll get it in no time." She skated to the middle of the rink, motioning for Reiya to do the same.
Sophie giggled. "Well, at least she's doing better than us!" Even as she said it, she slipped. "It was a guess, because you two look so similar, but I wasn't all the way sure. Now, come on. We've wasted enough time chitting."

Reiya followed Gertie with ease. She gave her a smile. "I'm too much of a perfectionist, I think," she admitted. She was, too; she didn't mind if other people messed up, but when it was her... Oh well. "Do you think you can show me again?"
Sammi took Sophie's hand. "You guessed right," she said. "And you know, I think you'd like the book, because it shows Howl the way you thought of him when you first met." She thought Sophie would enjoy that. "So, um. Want to practice skating near the ramp? We won't fall so often." At least, she hoped they wouldn't.

Gertie's plump face lit up proudly. It wasn't often that she was in charge and she took up the post with glee. "Theres you fault, right there. You gotta learn to make mistakes. Their how you get better." She motioned for the younger girl to stay still, then took a wide sweep, gracefully gaining speed before she performed the trick again.
"I'm not sure. Seems a little queer to me, having a book written about us. But, if Howl lets me, I'll read or listen to it." Of course, it wouldn't be half as fun it the man-er, boy himself wasn't there to poke fun at. "Sure. Although, honestly, I'm tired of falling down all the time."

Reiya watched Gertie intently, trying to drive off the monster that was envy. So she needed to let herself make mistakes? She'd never thought of that before. "Want me to try now?" She asked, once Gertie had performed the trick. The older girl really was talented.
"Maybe you can talk yourself into not falling," Sammi suggested. "Or the ice into not letting us fall--or your skates," she added.

"Yep, give it your best shot!" Gertie would go on to make sure that the girl knew how to do the trick, even if she hadn't perfected it by the time she left the rink that day.
And as for Sophie.....
"Great idea!" She frowned down at the ice and waggled her finger, "Look here. I don't care how much you don't like our skates, your going to play nice until we leave, got it?"
And that was that.
