Both her hits had connected- the beam of light causing a burn...even a pause- this was a good thing it gave pegasus a chance to stand. Herself leaping at Linarite though had not done so much except irritate her. Chloe needed to remember she was maybe a 5 lb cat against a larger, stronger, Negaverser.

Leaping backwards she started to worry- wonder what she should do. That single beam of light had left her tired... she could probably manage a second but it would leave her unable to do anything else except sleep. Sleep was not a option. What the hell could a small cat do?

Something in the back of her head was screaming at her- something that the small feline knew she should not ignore. Astraea had always told her to follow her instincts, so what could she lose? "Pegasus! Give me your henshin pen!" She growled at the senshi- darting towards her. "Just...do it!" She had no time to explain.

A small hint of relief flashed across Pegasus' face as the cat landed safely a few feet away, looking like she escaped unscathed from Linarite's vicinity. With her own body sporting the evidence of how much damage the Negaverse Captain could do, it was a small consolation that her teammate had gotten out of the fray unharmed. It was a different feeling, the comradary -- before now, her team had felt out of place, Chloe's eyes always feeling judgmental on her, testing her as a leader.

Now... amongst the pouring rain and the burning tired gripping her muscles, something felt... different.

The strawberry blonde hardly blinked at the unorthodox order, lifting one hand and summoning it automatically from subspace and throwing it in the cat's direction without thought of the ramifications should the Captain get hold of it. She trusted Chloe explicitly -- if the cat had asked her to reach into her own chest and hand her her starseed, Pegasus would have done so without a second's hesitation. She was sure the Siamese had a damn good reason for asking for it.

Still, that didn't stop Lina from getting ever closer, voice seeped in hatred.

"No Linarite. Not today, not ever."

With or without her pen, the teal-skirted Senshi of Dreams took a step towards the blue-haired Captain, her movements much slower than her nemesis', more cautious. Still, she'd meet her head-on if she had to.

Chloe's eyes burned with intense emotions that seemed to be mini flames within. The feeling to want to protect, the feeling of hate, of helplessness, and most of all the feeling of just LIGHT.

Something was guiding her- telling her yes this is right. Leaping into the air she caught the pen in her mouth before touching back down.

The star on her forehead started to glow once more- the negaverser might have thought it was to attack again- except this time... it was not only her glowing. A light could be at first only felt from within pegasus, a golden light that would radiate out until the light was visible to everyone around as well. Her horn started to glow first, quickly followed by a golden light so intense that it seemed to shatter the gloomy rainy night and bring the morning light back.

The light faded almost as soon as it started- leaving behind a new Pegasus.

"Super Sailor Pegasus, Go kick that negaversers a**." She grinned broadly as the pen once again disappeared into Pegasus's sub space. The tiny feline backed up- exhausted from what just transpired but willing to protect Pegasus if she was still needed. She doubted she was though.

No! No no no no! Everyone only ever had so much control, and if Linarite's had been fully human and breathing, it would now be laying strangled at her feet. Control was stone-cold dead and the corpse burnt in the face of her rage at the small cat. Oh indeed, the little kitty would die, and she might take a page out of poor Asian cookbooks and eat the b*****d animal! It sung a siren song to her blood, it made her strong. It also made her incredibly clumsy and careless.

With a wordless cry of undeniable rage, Linarite threw all of her power and strength into a cutting slash with her staff. It probably would not slice deeply, and certainly would not send Pegasus' entrails steaming onto the slippery concrete. But it would hurt, it would disorient, and it would give the captain time to reach in. It was her goal that by morning, there would be no goddamn Sailor Pegasus!

"With pleasure."

Super Sailor Pegasus was moving as soon as Linarite's weight shifted into the attack, using the new-found strength and meeting the attack practically head-on, throwing an arm up and attempting to move as the staff slammed into the side of her body. Once again metal found cloth and skin, slicing through the upper part of her new gloves, another cut blossoming along her arm. For the second time, Pegasus grabbed her wound, clutching it for a second before grabbing hold of that staff, fighting Linarite for the balance of power, teeth bared in an angry snarl.

"Dream Concussion!"

It was personal, now. It hadn't always been, but somewhere along the line, Pegasus stopped treating the Blue-haired Captain like just another Negaverse lackey. The blast would hurt -- it was bigger than Kinesis, the orb expanding until it looked like it had grown around the two girls, and if it had been a bubble it might have popped. As it was, there was a period of a few seconds where they both had a chance to retreat, to evade most of the blast, and Pegasus met Lina's eyes.

No pain, no gain. It'd be worth it.

Rage made you stupid and careless, hadn't those words come out of her mouth towards her fellow captains, and countless lieutenants? She'd always scorned their angry way of fighting, determined to coolly think through every move and only then would she move her chess piece across the board. No one could beat her in Battleship to date, she was just too icily methodical when it came to seeking out the weak points in any strategy. Pasha had a habit of putting all of his ships in the same cluster. Charonite had staggered his at first, and Janice Fitzpatrick liked to make weird ******** shadow animals with hers. Lina could have told them that the best way to play was a straight and diagonal line across the board.

But this was the worst strategy ever, charging straight in for the king with little care or regard for the other pieces on the board. This was mano a mano, a fight to the (not even remotely near) death! So when Pegasus' attack expanded, the senshi's grasp still fierce on her weapon, Linarite refused to surrender. She refuse to let this senshi win, no matter the pain. There was time to brace, to absorb, she'd felt this attack before!

Which was, of course, her last and final mistake. The captain had felt the lesser power of the Senshi of Dreams' attack, but this was more, so much more. The kinesis blast roared around them as it completed, and the force of it ripped through Linarite's uniform and threw both girls backwards. The grey woolen fabric of her overcoat was shredded in a few places, baring the teal of her bustier and pale skin of her stomach that slowly dripped with pink where rain mixed with blood from shallow cuts across her stomach and arms. Both had released the staff and it had been blown to lay on the sidewalk and shimmer in the halo of light from the streetlamp.

For a moment, the bluenette couldn't move, wouldn't move. The rain pounded down on her suddenly battered body and she groaned with effort as she crawled across the slick street towards her staff. "I hate you. I hate you so ******** much, none as much as you." It was a growl, a snarl, a gravel sound coming out of the petite Linarite's rosy lips. Copper eyes shot venomous glares towards the senshi and cat, and the moment fingers reached her staff, the captain was gone. The remainder of her strength had been used to throw herself across town, where in the Collins household, she clattered against the tile in her tiny second-floor bathroom. "I hate her. I will kill her one day!" It was a promise, something she didn't intend to break.

Time seemed to stand still for those few seconds, their eyes locked in equal determination as the attack grew larger, threatening to explode at any second. The rain fell slower around them, the lamp flickering in slow-motion, neither of them noticing any of it. And then, the moment was over. Time sped up again, and the iridescent sphere shattered, exploding outward and shoving both Negaverse and Senshi backward, sending them sprawling onto the gravel. Neither moved for a very long time, but as with before, both knew without saying it -- there wasn't a need to. There would be no more fight tonight.

They'd stalemated.

In the lamplight, the Super Senshi of Dreams took hold of the cool metal rod of the street lamp, using it to pull herself up. Her body was tired and achy, and her muscles quivered a little with the effort, threatening to give out. But she had won. They had won. No war, and Pegasus couldn't even claim she had won the battle, blue-green eyes watching the Captain escape. But they'd won the battle for her starseed.

"Right back at you, b***h."

After a few more moments of lingering on the shadows, her attention turned to the soaked Siamese, and Pegasus gave just the hint of a smile, tired but existent, bending down a bit and extending an arm, offering a ride as they headed back towards safety. "So..." she started, her voice rough from the fight, and the strawberry blonde swallowed, trying to clear her throat, "Flora likes the name 'Dream Team'... what do you think, Guardian?"
