XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX• Background: Tora was cursed the moment she was born.
Born into the arms of a Mother who soon after her birth began to show signs of depression, and a Father who was simply sickened by her appearance, it wasn't long before Tora's 'wonderful life' began.
During the first few months of her life, the young Shakaiyo found herself victim to the constant hateful utterings of her Father. Hiding his own embarrassment, at only being able to produce one basket. He projected all of his frustrations onto Tora. At times it seemed that the pup couldn't do anything to escape, and her Mother was of no help. In fact, it was as though her Mother didn't exist, all she did was lie in the corner of their home, a silent mess, only there to take up space.
As the months went on, Tora's Father began to show physical signs of aggression, and soon began to pin the female to the ground in order to assert his dominance. Fear for her pitiful existence, and the shame of being such a horribly hideous beast drove her to escape.
Her dreams became a reality in the middle of the night, shortly after she came across the realization that there had to be something better out there. With confidence in her self, and dreams in her heart, Tora set off.
It wasn't long, perhaps a week, before Tora's spirits truly began to soar. Everything seemed so much better, there was no more ridicule, no more violence, and best of all she was free to be her own Shakaiyo. It was then that she met the male that would soon tear her small shred of confidence to microscopic bits.
He was absolutely gorgeous, black and white with beautiful black spots covering his entire body, and his wings! She didn't even want to get started on how much she absolutely adored them. To Tora he seemed perfect in every way, sadly for her, this is exactly what he wanted. The two Shakaiyo soon fell madly in love, and planned to have pups someday, Reeve - the male - seemed in much more of a hurry than Tora ever had, but she looked past it if he wanted pups, she wanted him to have them.
To their extreme disappointment it seemed as though Tora was incapable of bearing Reeve any baskets, and the once amazingly perfect male, became her Father all over again. Though for all she could give, she could not understand why the male was as frustrated as he was with her. Surely if he loved her as much as he said, having pups wouldn't matter?! Wrong.
One night while the two slept in their den, Tora awoke to find Reeve sneaking from the cave. Infuriated and confused in the same breath she followed him. It wasn't long before the male led her to a clearing, though he never entered the clearing, instead he lurked behind a tree and stared intently into the clearing. Squinting her eyes, the female saw exactly what the male was so mesmerized by - Baskets. Four of them.
"I'm stealing one you know."
The words echoed silently to her ears, as the male turned his attention to her once more. "And i'm leaving your worthless side behind."
The words hit her like a ton of bricks and she immediately withdrew into herself. Completely lost in her own world, she instantly connected all of the dots. This is why he had been so intent on pups? This is why he had been frustrated with her? Their entire lives together had been lies, fabricated by the male, all for the hopes of a basket!
When the female caught her sanity long enough to form a reply, she opened her woozy eyes only to realize that she had fainted, and that the male was long gone. She would never see him again.
To this day, Tora has been silent. Never opening her mouth, let alone her heart, to anyone else. Her figuring is that, so long as she doesn't open up, no one can hurt her anymore.
