 He had been sitting there grinning like an idiot. Was he proud of himself, or proud of Elea? Or was that grin because he was overjoyed that they had succeeded -tonight-, together, that he had show her he that he could hunt, that he hadn't just been bragging. Or was it just that tonight seemed to be the perfect night, though he could not have explained why.
"Really? You think so?"
It was his turn to blush, his nose turning a slightly darker shade of pink, his ears feeling far warmer than they had a moment before. Had anyone else spoken those words to him he might have stood a little taller, smiled a little more, resolved to do even better the next time. But this was Elea, it was her who had said it, why did it feel so different? Why did he feel so lost, yet so overjoyed, and why could he find no words to say no matter how his mind raced?
A deep breath, he took a step closer, ignoring the prey at their paws. Did she like him?

"Why else would I have said it, if I did not think it?" she asked with an incredulous grin. Elea didn't think he was doubting her words, rather, she was talking a little more now to try and distract herself from what she was feeling. It was so... odd. She really hadn't warmed up to anyone else in so short a time, and usually she didn't enjoy hunting with lions who didn't have her sort of experience. But, she was glad that she had agreed to this. She was glad that Ufunuo had been with her to make the kill, though in this moment the kill was all but forgotten.
A vulture, who wasn't Nadra, of course, could fly down and start to pick away at the fresh carcass and Elea wouldn't care. Her attention was fixed solely on Ufunuo. Was he moving closer? He certainly was. Blushing even more, she almost leaned back, as if she wasn't quite ready for what he would bring with moving closer. But, thinking about it... why should she lean away? Maybe it was Nadra's insistent teasing that was getting the better of her now, because she corrected the movement. Instead she stood and took a step closer to him. Her light purple eyes were wide, not quite knowing what it could mean if she did anything more.
Should she do more...? Did she really understand what she was doing now? She hadn't known the lion for more than a day, but she was already closer to him than she was with almost the rest of the pride. She took another step forward, almost hesitant in her movements. If Nadra was nearby, she would have made a 'shooing' gesture with her wings to urge Elea even further. But, as it was, it was slow going, almost to the point where there seemed to be little to no progress at all... until their noses touched.

His breath caught in his throat, eyes focused on hers. For a brief instant he may have worried he'd done something wrong, then wondered if he had done something right, a nervousness unlike any he had ever felt as he watched her. His heart was racing, what was she doing? What did she think of him? Was she...
The touch was electric, his eyes going wide for a brief moment, time stood still. It shot through him from his nose to his tail, it was like nothing he had ever known before. He breathed again (had he been holding his breath?), his eyes settling to gaze into hers. Wow, she really was pretty, why had he never noticed before today?
Almost as if a weight had been lifted, Ufunuo took a chance. He took a step forward, his head lowered, daring to brush the fluff of his cheek against the crook of her neck. The gesture was as uncertain as it was heartfelt, did he dare to press closer? Would she pull away if he did? A gentle nuzzle, oh please be the right thing.
And somewhere in the distance an eagle may have given a cheering cry, but Ufunuo would not have noticed.

She jumped a little bit, as if the shock of their touch had spread through Ufunuo and into her, leaning back as if she was unsure of what to do. Elea had always been a lioness with a purpose, a lioness who seemed to know what to do and when to do it... but right now she was clueless. Elea was letting instinct and emotion guide her through these first tentative steps. She knew, in essence, what she wanted. She just had no idea how to express herself, how to get the message to him that she thought...
Elea blushed as the words she wasn't sure she should say crossed her mind. Ufunuo was many things, young, handsome, and fun - these qualities inspired something in her, something that she was still uncertain if she should act on further. It was a good thing that it was then that she felt Ufunuo's cheek just barely brush against her. It was the reassurance she needed, the silently spoken 'okay, this is fine'.
Releasing a soft sigh she gave in. This wasn't so bad, and she could try to sort out her feelings later. Right now, though, she wanted to take this in. Leaning forward, she gently rubbed her forehead underneath Ufunuo's chin, a sign of reciprocated affection for the male.

Growing more confident, reassured, Ufunuo leaned into her touch. A quiet purr, he settled at her side, his body pressed against hers. She was warm, gentle, filling his senses, and he found himself wanting to stay like this for as long as he could, to spend the night with her and only her.
"It's beautiful."
His eyes had glanced to the moon, but he wasn't really talking about the moon, it was Elea who was beautiful. He liked this, the peace of the night, the warmth of her touch, it was just the two of them. Please, just let him stay like this for a while, at this moment, that was all that he wanted.
