"Nathan," came the reply, and he shook the other man's hand. Well, maybe Harley wouldn't grow up terribly alone as it was, if you could go out and meet people with kids at the zoo.
Harley just shrugged. He wanted to tell her that the Eebas were interesting because they were pretty and because he'd never seen one before, maybe even because it was just a nice day. Unfortunately, he had no idea how to voice his thoughts, and so it stayed as a shrug.

"First trip to the zoo for Harley?" Vlad asked in hopes of starting a conversation with Nathan. The children were getting along for the most part... So they should be able to as well.
Victoria wanted to ask if he knew how to talk but decided not to. She had no desire to hurt Harley's feelings. "They have a lot of stripes," she said in an attempt to talk for them both. "Little hard to tell one from the next."

"Yeah," Nathan said, turning his sleepy eyes to the man and offering him a smile. He had been to this zoo plenty of times as a kid.
"Ya," Harley agreed, handing his father the empty cotton candy cone and holding his hands behind his back. Did it matter which zebra was which? He didn't think so!
"Da...da muntees." He liked the monkeys best so far. They made funny noises and stole things out of the garbage.

"This is my first time to the zoo. I grew up on an island so I had a lot of other things to hold my attention growing up. She unfortunately doesn't have the luxury at this point in time to visit the place where I grew up." Vlad's smile was a little less there. His mother's death still cut through him easily.
Victoria tried her best to process the word he was saying but she was having a hard time. "Mutants?" She asked. She didn't think she saw them listed on the sign at the entrance... But, well they were a sight to see she supposed.
"I believe he wants to see the monkeys," Vlad chuckled. He knew his daughter meant well in trying to figure out what the boy was saying. He hoped that correcting her wouldn't embarrass her to much.
"Oh," was all Victoria could say. She idly twisted her fingers into the ends of her hair.

"Really? Well, welcome to the land of stinking captive animals," Nathan laughed, either not noticing Vlad's change in mood or not caring.
Harley's brow furrowed. It was frustrating when people couldn't understand you. It wasn't that he wanted to see the monkeys, he already had! He wanted to talk about them! Granted, he would go see them again if the girl wanted to.

"At least the kids enjoy it," Vlad grinned.
Victoria saw Harley's frustration through his facial expressions and sighed. "Well if not the monkey's then what do you want to see?" She asked because she thought that was what he was wanting was to see an animal not talk about it.
Victoria really didn't care what she got to see next... She just wanted to see something! She hoped though that she would get to see something more active than zebra's.

Harley looked around them at the other cages. Most of the hoofy animals were here, and Victoria didn't seem too enthused with those. He tugged on Daddy's sleeve and began to walk for a cage in the center of the walk, full of colorful birds.
Girls liked colors, right?

Victoria followed after Harley. Him being unable to communicate fully made things slightly more difficult.
Victoria was in awe as they approached the bird cage. The birds were different, sizes, colors, and shapes. Some birds looked similar but for the most part they were different. "Impressive wing span," she said as she pointed at one of the parrots, "... very pretty."

Wing span...? Eh, whatever. They had wings indeed, and they were very pretty! Harley reached up to stick his finger in the cage, but Nathan caught it and pulled it away.
"They bite," he said seriously, and Harley's eyes went wide. Oh no, bitey pretties!

"So..." Victoria grinned.
'Here we go again,' Vlad thought to himself. He knew Victoria and how she acted when she wanted something, or wanted to prove a point. "What is it?" He grumbled.
"If birds bite then they aren't much tamer than the lions," Victoria batted her eye lashes. Each had their own interesting points. But, the fact remained that she had walked away from the lions to find a tamer animal because her dad wanted to be over protective.
"Anything can be dangerous..." Vlad responded. Knowing her tricks he refused to look his daughter in the eyes. "Somethings more than others."
Victoria pouted.

"A bird isn't as likely to tear you to shreds--"
"Lions can do a lot more damage," Nathan said, voice suddenly going flat and expression falling.
"--to laugh as you scream or lap up your blood or--"
"Harley, I think it's time we went home. We've been here all day." That had, in fact, only been there a couple of hours, but Nathan wasn't about to listen to this thing talk about eating little girls.
"Sorry we have to go so soon. It was nice to meet you both," Nathan said, offering Vlad his hand after putting Harley back on his shoulders. Harley just waved.
"Do it, you know you want to, it's in your blood!"

"Nice meeting you as well," Vlad shook Nathan's hand. "We'll have to get together again some time."
Victoria waved upwards at Harley. It looked like a lot of fun to ride on a persons shoulders. However, it also looked very unlady like.
Vlad couldn't help but feel that something had spooked Nathan. He wasn't sure what it was. His ears swiveled. "Come along," he said as he held his hand out to Victoria.
"Okay," Victoria grinned and took her dads hand. "Take me back to see the lions...."
