James Tanner Metal_Maniac hey man, I just got two EMG's. i got an 81 and a 85, but i'm still deciding what position to place them, if you got any suggestions just hit me up with them , thanx You could do the Zakk Wlyde setup, with the 81 in the neck and the 85 in the bridge. I was thinking of his set up, but i though it was the 81 on the bridge and the 85 on the neck. cuz i saw it on musiciansfriend.

I thought that as it was a lower number, it would have a lower output. sweatdrop

pickups arnt what they used to be. stock pickups are being flogged into the guitar market due to their cost and ease of creation. great pickups can only be found in top end guitars unable to be purchused by the general public

Angelic Celestia I heard that you can't beat EMG 81 and 85s for metal. 3nodding Zakk Wylde and I think Kerry King use those. Im buyin those sometime later this month or in the next few months and putin them on an old guitar of mine (my first cause the pickups on it dont give off that good of a sound when on rhythm and i play both).

Dude I got my guitar today, the EMG's are perfect for Metal, they're heavy, and gave my guitar alot of sustain, she barely had sustain, i'm glad i decided on them, the clean is awsome, but i still don't get the right sound cuz i got new strings so you know, which one do you mean the EMG's or the EVO?

EMGs are great for jazz neck tones too, but of course I'm the only one that has ever actually played nothing but blues and jazz on an EMG...

I think an EMG pickup in a jazz tune could be smooth, but I wonder what it would sound like in an archtop? ninja
