"More or less." she mused, but didn't interrupt the man further. She really believed Zeke needed this, to let all his fears and hopes and doubts and dreams for the virus Raevan to just spill out now. She didn't want him ending up like her middle of last year, the night terrors enough to drive her to the brink of insanity. But perhaps that was just another fear of hers she was allowing to get out of hand right now. Zeke wasn't her. He was cheery and optimistic, obviously he would have plenty of friends to talk with when it came to things like this. He didn't really need her, but Ebony would at least show she could be there, if he did or wanted.

This time the Brit settled with patting the emerald-violet man on the shoulder rather than placing her hand there. "I understand. And when Cordelia calms down, I'll explain it all to her and make her understand as well. I can't make promises that she'll listen, she's still very young after all, but I can definitely try." She flashed Zeke a soft, encouraging smile before it gradually turned into a more devious grin. "You know...you could always just start calling it baby until you actually name it." Ebony chuckled imagining Zeke's pierced face making cooing sounds at the tank and rubbing it like a proud poppa would towards his pregnant wife's belly. It was sort of the same thing...sort of.

Suddenly, there was a sound and movement in the lab as the doors connecting this part to the lobby opened once more. Cordelia looking rather sheepish floated back into the room slowly and stopped short of a few feet from the doors. The scales around her eyes seemed more red around the edges than they should be and her gaze never left the floor. She felt bad about her rude behavior earlier, but she wouldn't apologize either. Quietly, yet loud enough to carry across the room to the two humans. "Ebony, I would like to go home now please."

It was the first time ever that the purple haired female could recall Delia ever calling her by her correct name and not the favored nick of Ebby the snake so loved. Somehow, not hearing that familiar happy chime of the nickname made something in Ebony's chest ache. Just as quietly, "Sure thing Dove."

Turning back and offering her hand in farewell, "It was nice to meet you Zeke. I apologize again for whatever trouble we may have caused you today, but I hope to see you and..." Her grey eyes slid to his Raevan's tank one last time. "...and your Raevan, hopefully, soon. Please take care til then."

"I know you can't promise that, but just saying you'll talk to her is enough for me." He reached an arm up and patted the hand Ebony had on his shoulder, a silent thank you for her words and comfort. At that grin and her words his own grin broke out, laughing airily at the suggestion. It was a good one! "Perhaps! I like that idea though, thank you for that." He thought about saying that to the tank as well, but his personage was less silly in his mind. If he did start calling the being in the tank that and it could hear him, hopefully it wouldn't call itself 'baby' right off the bat once it was out of there. Though the prospect either way was rather funny, once more he couldn't start to linger long on it as the sound of the door opening made him drop his hand and turn around.

"Cordelia..." He started softly as the Frei hovered at that spot, eyes turned down and away from himself and her guardian. Zeke felt a slight pang in his heart at that sight but understood enough then and there. As the basilisk spoke and her guardian replied, he turned back around, grasping the offered hand in his own and applying a firm, formal squeeze.

"You as well, and please, no need to apologize. You both livened up the last hour or two of my night here, so there's no hard feelings." He let go of the shake and stepped out of Ebony's way so she could return to her ward. A nod accompanied the last statement but he didn't reply. Offering a meeting with the developing virus Raevan now might cause Cordelia to stress and react negatively again and he didn't want to press anything more on the pair. Two things did cross his mind though - that he'd likely have to walk out with them unless he lingered back in here and the fact the Brit and the basilisk had come in here for another, more pressing reason that this had totally detracted from.

"Um..." he started, one hand raising towards the pair to get this last bit in, "About your friend, Cordelia, I'm sorry I wasn't of much help. But...But I'll make sure Dr. Kyou receives a message as soon as possible so the Lab can check on her." His tone was soft but carried over. That saying would be his choice about walking out with the pair; he wouldn't. Instead he'd fish out some spare sheet of paper and a pen then write a short note to tack on the doctor's office door on the far opposite side of the lab. He was sure they could let themselves out without delay or poking around, he could tell Ebony cared deeply for her Raevan and would take her straight home. Until they did leave, however, he'd keep his ground in front of his own Raevan and the empty but lit tank belonging to Anita's Frei.

"It was nice to meet you both. I hope you have a safe commute back and hopefully we can meet again sometime."

Cordelia visibly cringed at the words her guardian had spoken to the male human. The idea of being anywhere near the loathsome creature was more than she could stand, but for Ebby to just outright volunteer to meet with it was unacceptable. But she could not control her woman since she was most obviously the parental figure in this relationship, yet that would mean Delia would have to be with the Brit to make sure nothing happened to her. Even if they were at odds at the moment, Ebony was hers and the basilisk took care of her own.

They were on their way out with Ebony holding the door open for her ward when Zeke spoke up again. That single paused utterance caused two sets of grey eyes to stop and look back towards the lab worker with curiosity. After he said what he had to say Cordelia looked away again, an overwhelming sadness developing in her expression. She had thought the virus to be the root of Lucia's attack, but now it was proven false. This only meant one thing in the snake's mind, her friend had betrayed her and tried to kill her all on her own. This was the cause of her gloom.

"Thank you..." she breathed quietly before finally slipping out after her guardian. It was the least she could do, even if she was against his Raevan to be. He had helped them after all. Not in the way she'd anticipated, but still he honored his promise, and that was something not to go unappreciated.
