"I know that." she snapped back at him. "I just didn't know the Kalona I was helping would turn into such a pain in my side!" and at least that isn't literal, she added to herself. "Your the one who seems to keep hunting me down, without eating me!" she said frustrated. "What do you want from me!?" she yelled. "I doubt very highly that my charms keep drawing you back, so why didn't you just fly away and pretend the little Kirin never did anything to help you?"

She turned her head and stared off into the distance. This situation was so impossible, she didn't know what to do anymore. She wanted him gone but yet she didn't, she wanted to move closer but common sense told her that was a bad idea. She groaned inwardly, what was wrong with her life?

Xelloss didn't know exactly how to answer that question. He was there because he didn't like loose threads. He was there because he liked seeing her bothered by him. He was there in part because she bothered him so much and he wasn't exactly sure why. It was a complicated tangle of reasons in his mind and he didn't think he could unravel it quick enough for an answer. Luckily... he had an old fallback response for this sort of situation.

"What do I want from you, you ask? Now thaaaaat, is a secret."

He usually used that response when he was up to no good. Naturally he wouldn't want anyone to get a good idea of what he was really up to. This time, the statement had a somewhat different flavor. It seemed true on a somewhat more personal level...

Deneb snorted and stamped her hoof. "Oh is it?" she said with a slight mocking tone. "Well it would seem that we're both just big bundles of confusion." she said looking back at him, narrowing her eyes. She snorted again and then unconsciously took several steps towards him again. "Seems we'll never get anywhere at all, just keep arguing with each other until we're just old and gray." she said looking up at him. "Of course that works out better in my favor since eventually you'll lose all those sharp teeth and I'll be too tough to gum to death." she smirked and moved close enough to brush gently against him, sending shivers down her entire body.

"Seems, exciting." she purred letting that treacherous part of her that was attracted to the stallion reassert itself.

She wasn't an idiot. Xelloss wasn't petty enough to give insult where none was due and he knew that the mare didn't have a lower than usual intelligence. That being the case... he didn't quite understand why she kept thinking that sidling up to him was a good idea. She knew he was dangerous. She knew he had teeth and could use them. Why then did she persist in treating him like he was any other stallion?

No, the real question wasn't why she treated him like she did... the question was why he didn't rip her to shreds when she did.

The feeling of her brushing against him was enough to set his entire body on edge. The scent of her filled his nostrils. Kirin. So young and innocent and she was putting herself entirely at his mercy. Ideas of things he could do to her flowed one after another through his mind as he looked down at her.

"It's all exciting until someone winds up bloody," he said, quietly but with mischief and menace.

"Isn't everything?" she said trembling slightly. "Everything is fun and games until someone looses an eye." she purred her breathing quickening. Deneb had now concluded that proximity was a drug, and she was definitely high on it, dangerously high on it. She wondered idly if she'd feel it when he finally sunk his teeth into her neck, and if she'd care.

The rational part of her did, and was trying to kick and scream its way back into the forefront and get her to move away. She ignored it, and closed her eyes reveling a bit in the warmth from Xelloss' body. It was then she concluded that she was also partially insane. Okay maybe more than partially...but as long as no one was around, they didn't have to know...

She was tantalizing. She was tantalizing and frustrating, intriguing and aggravating. She was all these things put together that should have made him want to kick her skull in... but he didn't. What he really wanted to do was...

"You don't do this with all the stallions do you?" The words came out with a sharper edge to them than Xelloss would have intentionally applied. It almost sounded like... he was jealous.

With a flash of irritation he realized that he probably was. Somehow he loathed this mare... but if he saw her with another stallion he might have to run him off a cliff.

Deneb was suddenly taken back by his tone. She didn't expect him to sound so...was it jealous? She wasn't sure, and was afraid to think further on it. The next problem was now she'd have to admit that she didn't really know any stallions except Requiem.

"Ah...uh..." she looked down and stared at her hooves. "No..." she finally admitted quietly. "You're the only one." she said feeling stupid now and wishing the ground would swallow her up.

He was both pleased and displeased with her answer. Why does everything about this mare have to have that damned duality? He liked that she didn't have any other stallions to chase off... but he didn't like the connotation of being "her only one."

Not to mention that her sudden awkwardly shy response was rather unexpected.

"Maybe I'll kill the others if I see you with them." He replied in a mocking tone but with a little too many teeth showing for it to be taken unseriously. "Maybe I'll kill anyone I see you with," he added. He himself wasn't certain if he was teasing at this point. "Got any family?" he quipped.

Deneb jerked her head up to look at him and blinked wondering he was serious. She finally settled that while he wasn't trying to be serious, he'd definitely at least try something if he saw her with another stallion.

She felt a slight pang as he mentioned family. She swallowed hard and slowly shook her head. "No...my mother's already dead." she said before glaring up at him. "Thank you for reminding me." she snapped. "And before you ask if there's anyone else, I'm only loosely attached to a herd..." she finished stamping a hoof.

"Sooooo... I guess that means that means that you might not be missed if you suddenly disappeared?" he said in the same tone that was either jokingly dangerous or dangerously joking.

As soon as he said the words Xelloss wondered if he had said a little too much. He liked to think of himself as a subtle creature, but whatever he meant with that sentence he had said it somewhat too bluntly.

Still... he could think of a number of things he could do to her that would keep her unexpectedly away from her herd... and all of them were rather fun.

Deneb glanced up and eyed him suspiciously. She wasn't sure how to answer the question without getting herself into even more trouble. Would Requiem notice if she was gone for a long period of time? ...No, she finally decided, he probably wouldn't, and might think she'd just found somewhere else to stay, or another herd, or someone to occupy her time....or something...although she hoped that if she did end up dead at the hands of the Kalona, he'd at least come to bid her spirit goodbye...it was about the only positive thing she could think of at the moment. A grim thought.

"...No..." she finally said slowly. "They probably wouldn't worry to much about me...for awhile." and then began to wonder if she'd just signed her own death sentence. Well at least they'll be some sexy scenery to watch while you die. chimed in the one part of her brain. Gee, thanks... Deneb thought sarcastically to herself.

And there it was, admission that he could do whatever he liked with her and no one would be the wiser. Xelloss' nostrils flared in an uncontrolled and excited response to such a sudden influx of temptation. Oh, the things he could do with her...

Normally, unless bidden to do so by his mistress Eviotil, Xelloss wasn't the sort to go around kidnapping mares. In fact, he was far more likely to be seen conversing pleasantly with a soquili than to do anything untoward to one. He valued his identity as a "friendly" kalona. If people trusted him then he could take advantage of that trust when he most needed it. He was very tempted to do something evil with this mare... but he was very used to resisting his more darker inclinations.

Oh, but how she made him want to give in.

"Do you know," his voice had an odd note of strain to it, evidence of the pressure exerted on his willpower. "How unwise it is to admit something like that to someone like me?" His violet eyes were open and alight while watching her. There was no kindness in those eyes, only craving.

"And what if it is." she said tossing her forelock out of her eyes and looking up at him. "I can take care of myself." she said narrowing her golden eyes at him. The look in his eyes made her tremble ever so slightly and while she was afraid she was sorely tempted to see what it was that was lurking in his mind. "You don't scare me." she said slowly hoping he wouldn't hear the lie.

"Besides," she continued on in what she hoped was a nonchalant tone. "I could run away right now and you'd never find me in this forest." an idle threat she knew, because even if she'd wanted to she knew she couldn't run right now, not with those eyes boring into what seemed her very essence. "So think about that." she purred.

"Try it then," he hissed, voice still holding its quiet intensity. A smile slowly spread across his face once more. "Try it." His wings shifted a little then half-spread. They were poised on his back and ready for quick activity.

"Your legs against my wings. I think it'd be an entertaining contest," he purred with sweet danger. The tip of his tail was twitching behind him with anticipation. "We could even put a bet on it."

Deneb took a half step back. Her tremors increasing. "What sort of bet?" she whispered having lost her voice all of a sudden. She was afraid to find out, but intrigued too. Her own tail lashed in response to his own. She was so in over hear head, she wondered if she'd even see tomorrow at this rate.

Oh stars above, if I live through this... she thought to herself.
