Jada was startled by Elke's question. It showed. "What kind of a dress?" she repeated stupidly. "I have never really thought about it." the admission was quiet. "I mean... I played wedding when I was a little girl. But when I got older... I always figured the dress would come when I knew who I was marrying. Dependent upon what the groom wanted me to wear."
It was such a sad, impersonal confession. A little girl who hadn't dreamed about being the princess for her special day. "It would be white, of course." she said finally. smiled as Elke pulled the cover over her as well.
"No sweetie, I wasn't cold. But thank you." she cuddled into the blanket, pulling open the Cosmo. "So what would you like to have read to you first?" She couldn't bring herself to respond to the other senshi's bright eyes. The thought of what would... well. Old habits die hard.

No one ever didn't think about what kind of wedding dress they wanted to wear! And it wasn't the groom's place to pick out the bride's gown! Elke was going to find who gave her dear friend that idea and beat them upside the head. Or, you know, cry at them. It was so unfair that someone wouldn't be able to pick their own gown. For it to be Scylla who wasn't allowed to pick her dress...
"That's no good," said Elke, bumping her head against Scylla's shoulder. "We'll pick one. And it will be pretty, like you." She stared at her friend's dark hair, then blew her own blue hair out of her eyes.
She tilted her head, and then looked at the tiny text on the table of contents. "This one," she said, pointing to a particular one that didn't look too racy. "I don't wanna read about 110 tricks to drive him wild. Why would I want to make a guy angry at me, anyway?"
Elke read romance novels and skipped the pornographic bits. She skipped until it looked like there was no more porn. This worked out interestingly.

Scylla nodded. "I'll make sure you're involved in the picking process. Honestly though, we may be old before I ever get close to being married." Either that or they;d be fresh out of high school, and Elke wouldn't get much of a say.
She ran a hand down the side of Elke's paling face. "You're looking tired, sweetie. You don't hurt anywhere?" She wanted to be sure; Elke had only been in the hospital a few days and she knew how bad the wounds had been. "I'll only read you a little bit tonight ut then you need to go to sleep for me. Promise?"
"And sweetie, they are talking about 101 ways to make him really, really like you. To the point he can't hide it." She raised the magazine, shifting her weight. She then began to read the article, her voice low and as relaxing as she could make it.

"Pinky promise," said Elke; and they did. She doubted Scylla would be old by the time she got married, not unless she wanted to be. Her friend was pretty, and nice, and all the things you were supposed to be to get a good boyfriend and get married if you wanted to. Elke did, but Scylla might not...
She shook her head. "My stomach a little, but that is because of--you know. Of." Setting her head against Scylla's shoulder, she smiled and nodded again. "I'll go to sleep. I promise." Elke was quiet for a minute, listening to the explanation she was given--and she put two and two together, then said, "Oh." And then: "Oh."
Did she want guys to like her like that? Elke was unsure.
As Scy read, Elke closed her eyes. It turned out that the senshi of the kraken was also a good reader, and sooner than she'd wanted it to, Elke's breathing turned slow and regular; she'd fallen asleep.
