He nodded, "Affirmative, however I would still like to check it out soon. It's possible that a wandering predator or another otter has been fishing here without notice. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about yet."
Turning his attention to talk of Kimberly's garden was much appreciated, fish phobia considered, "She grows all sorts of flowers and a few herbs. I've drawn up plans to introduce some vegetables and fruits into it. She's quite excited to see her Oenanthe javanica start to bloom next month, they call it Flamingo Celery." He chuckled at the name. "I have been hoping to find some roses of various shades. I had managed to create a lovely purple rose named after her back home and I think it would ease any homesickness she may be feeling," he said, mostly to himself.

Lysander listened with interest. "How does one create a rose?" He knew absolutely nothing about the growing of plants, other than that berries and apples were tasty and sweet and that poison ivy was something to be avoided at all costs. And while he knew of water celery... "And what's a flamingo?" He'd never heard of it before. "I do know where some wild roses can be found, but they're all dormant at this time of year. They'll bloom in the late spring or early summer, but they're quite plentiful. If you like, I can show you where they are."

"It takes a variety of steps, finding the proper specimens to cross, controlled pollination, natural cross breeding, seed harvesting, growing those and then often forcing pollination to get the traits you desire," he nodded. It could sometimes be a headache but he was sure it'd be worth it in the end.
Oh, yes. "A flamingo is a wading bird that resides in tropical or sub-tropical areas. It hatches with gray plumage but when it grows will generally be light pink to crimson because of the carotenoid pigments found in it's food. I believe Flamingo Celery is so named because of the pink edges it often has."
He though he could likely dig up one rose bush to use in the future though he knew Kimberly had one rose bush already. It would be better to wait so that he could examine the coloration of the petals. "That would be very helpful, Lysander."
