Chuckling at Talon's initial reply, the rogue gave a nod while pouring himself a glass of water. From what he could feel through the glass, it was rather cold which is just what he wanted at the moment.
"Hehe, I see. And yeah you have a point there. Someone who had issues with rogues would probably have trouble getting help," he said.
When the waitress had come along, Maelthra refrained from growling but was keeping an eye on her at all times. Perhaps he was being too tense here, but something about this place didn't really set well with him.
"Speaking of which.. what exactly brings an Imperial soldier like you to the freelands anyway?"

Patiently awaiting his turn to get the water, Talon chuckled, "Or traveling in and around open land. Besides, the folks out here are friendlier, least from my experiences they are. "
Talon did eventually pour himself a glass of cold water, though he was half paying attention to the action. The focus really was on the question about why he was out here. "Vacation. I have relatives that live not too far from here. Thought I'd drop by and say hi. That and I really don't want to be in the cities right now. Too much commotion. And too much talk of war. " Talon would shrug again, finding that the answer was satisfactory and vague enough to keep him safe from whomever would track him down ( if any, considering that Talon seemed to make more friends then enemies.)
Moe, deciding that he wasn't going to be tortured, flopped onto the floor and took to being an electronic wanna-be food warmer. Complete with snores and sleepy hoots and honks. Might as well nap in a cool place while it lasted.
"I'd ask you what you're doing around here, but that seems like a stupid question. You have your reasons. And its rude to pry without reasonable suspicion. "

After taking a sip of the water, he placed the glass down and sighed.
"No kidding. Lately all I've been hearing about is trouble on all fronts. I guess normally I'd just try to ride it out but it seems that the rogues keep getting the butt of all the blame this time," he said while looking around. Then again, it seemed that there were few times when rogues weren't blamed for mishaps. And of course, a decent chunk of that probably was true, but he wasn't so certain as far as the recent events went. Especially when he kept hearing bits and pieces about the mysterious Unknown group. The thief didn't have much of a lead, but he had a gut feeling they were key to at least some of what was going on lately.
"Hm? Ah, nah. Not really that stupid of a question really. I just asked you after all."
Despite having said that, he decided on whim not to say why, even if his reasons for being in the free lands were not important or secretive whatsoever.

"Nasty things have been happening. Rogues are the easiest to blame because they really hold no side. From a military standpoint, point the finger at the outlaws and its a sixty-five percent chance that the accusations are correct. Though..." Talon frowned, staring off at a heavily shuttered window and tapping a finger on the rim of his glass of water, "the officers haven't confirmed nor deny the rumors that there is another group causing these events. " The solider shrugged and sipped on the cold drink. It was a little too cold to drink quickly, he found, but it was a nice shock to the system.
Those thoughts weren't really the best to dwell on or even discuss. Bad luck seemed to loom over those that talked about bad luck. Especially about the bad luck that seemed to plague the continent in recent years. It kinda made a man uneasy and trigger happy.
"Well, I figured you were out here for your own health. And I'm really not all too interested in why you are out here. " Talon's eyes fell back onto Blade. He then realized that he probably came off rude and smiled softly, "But since you brought it up, why are you out wandering around here? Some big fancy treasure unearthed in the sands by the recent storms? "

So it seemed the armies hadn't really gotten any further leads, but had heard the rumors as well. Then again, it was probably fairly hard to dig up anything substantial about the whole things. Shaking his head to himself, he just tried not to think about it so much. With any luck, the problems will die down, but he had a feeling this wasn't going to be the case.
"Heh, I wish," he said with a weak grin, "But a part of it is really just trying to get by without getting into too much trouble. With everything stirring up, it can be tough getting around. Basically just hoping to get some supplies for cheap really."
Before long, the glass of water had been emptied and his thirst was nicely quenched.
"It'd definitely be nice if there was some secret treasure out there though.."

Talon found himself empathizing with the rogue. It was getting hard to wander about freely without trouble suddenly appearing, let alone finding anything worthwhile. And with everyone up in arms, whispering in the halls about some demon thing, and hiding as soon as dusk came, it was hard to find any reliable information anymore. At least the bar's weren't seeing a lax in business. Or, at least the ones out in the free lands weren't.
"Ah... Tough times for all it seems. Well, parts in general are hard to come by out here. I wish you the best of luck "
He sipped on the glass of water a bit more.
"You never know. There are tons of ruins just waiting to be discovered. Though I'm sure by now most of them are guarded by Sleepers and/or have been converted into now deserted outposts. " He paused and snickered, "But I'm sure you already knew that. Archeology pays big now a days, I hear. "

"Thanks, and to you too for that matter."
Blade listened as Talon went on about the ruins, and the guy did have a point there. But the real trick was finding ruins that hadn't already been cleaned out by those who had found it first. He supposed for those, there was still the element of mystery and exploration to be had.
"Yeah, that's true. Maybe sometime I'll get lucky and uncover something that hadn't been touched just yet," he said with a wry grin, "I guess if I'm really lucky, there'll be some challenge in digging up what it has to offer too.."
Actually, he was pretty certain any ruins within the uncharted territories were going to have their own challenges to overcome. Though for those, it might not necessarily have anything to do with the ruins them self, but with whatever else was lurking in those lands.

"Challenge? You're just asking for trouble there..." Talon mumbled in slight warning. "But to each their own. If I were you, I'd stick to digging through the Freelands before heading out into the more dangerous areas. Not that I have doubt in your talents, or anything like that. "
Mostly the thought of someone wandering blindly in the uncharted lands looking for some of the rumored ruins brought chills to Talon. And speaking of uncharted, he should probably get to looking for the problem with the cooling system. The rest of the water was downed, the glass placed aside, and Talon set to filling his own canteen with the water. Naturally, he was going to pay for that, otherwise that would be just stealing.
"Anyways, y' mind taking a look at the Tyrant's system? "

"That may be so... but having to face something and earn what the ruins.. or any place else holds brings a greater reward, even if it isn't completely material," he replied with a shrug. He'd still be careful of course, but just stumbling on a treasure chest wouldn't quite be the same.
With the water downed, Blade nodded before standing up.
"Sure thing. Let's see what we can find..." he grinned. Though, remembering the zoid's temperament when he first saw it, the grin vanished.
"He's not going to end up snapping my head off or anything when I get close is he?"

Talon would nod in agreement, though he was screwing the cap back on the canteen and taking his time to flip through the notes of currency for the right amount. The currency notes were slipped beneath the empty water pitcher. His eyes followed the man as he stood up, curious to why the grin faltered.
Laughter soon followed, "That pushover knows better then to snap at someone that's trying to help. He's probably cooled off by now. " Talon was soon on his feet, though he had to step over Moe, nearly falling as the little Dino decided that it still didn't want to be too far away from its human.
He let out a soft chuckle and shook his head, "But if you're having second thoughts, I can understand completely. "

Chuckling at the response given to him, Blade nodded and beckoned Maelthra to follow. The MRZ quickly jumped up to his feet and was at his human's side in no time. He was going to miss the cool air of the bar, but at least he won't have to worry about any of its inhabitants attacking any of them all of the sudden.
"Hehe, I think I'll take the risk. If he comes after me, it'll be more of his loss," he said as he glanced at the table to make sure money had been placed down. He wasn't in so much of a mood to try and do a dine and dash.
Once that was confirmed, he went on to exit the place, holding the door open so the two MRZs and the other pilot could get out as well.

"Er... " Talon hadn't really a response to that, as he was occupied with the MRZ that had decided it was going to walk between Talon's legs. It was much easier to sit on the MRZ and get a ride out, which was what happened. Talon made sure once that his money was still on the table. Nonetheless, Talon took that talk as a threat to his only mode of transportation that didn't seem to cling to him.
Moe moseyed along back towards where the large ZOID's were parked, not really letting Talon get footing to get up and away. The large Rev Raptor let out a hiss as its pilot approached, assuming that they were going to start moving again. It was in for a mild surprise when Talon instead headed for a control access panel on a leg--or rather, Moe bumbled along with a slightly irritated looking Talon riding and dragging his heels in the dirt. "Well, feel free to look around. Tyrant won't cause you any trouble. "

It was... an odd sight to see Talon more or less riding his MRZ towards the Rev Raptor. But Blade decided not to say anything of it. The sight of that did make him wonder if he could ride Maelthra with relative ease, but he really wasn't so certain if the dragon would even let him try. It probably was best to leave that one to speculation.
Maelthra too, had tilted his head at the other MRZ, but kept up with his human for now. Once they reached the big zoids, he looked up at the rev raptor and lightning saix, with the former still looking fairly irritable.
"Alrighty," said the thief while patting Tyrant on the leg, "This won't hurt a bit."
That said, he went ahead and began to tinker around to see what he could do for the green raptor. While he worked, Maelthra just pawed at the dirt. There wasn't a whole lot this particular MRZ could do about the problem at hand, so he just stood by somewhat idly.
After a little while, Blade paused and scratched his head.
"It looks like one of his pumps are all messed up.. I don't really know how to deal with that, but I've tightened up a few loose valves so maybe at least he'll be able to run a little longer before overheating now."

Tyrant hissed, but allowed this odd person to dig around in his systems. If the massive Zoid had eyes, they'd be rolling at the cliche statement. It settled and zoned out for a bit, letting the human work in relative peace.
Talon, in the meantime, seemed to be stuck on the back of Moe. Talon wasn't too keen on riding around on Moe off base himself, but apparently the little MRZ took comfort in it and was happily wandering around in circles with the guy. Talon took to just sitting on the back, cross legged and balancing the best he could, which wasn't too hard considering it was a lumbering sort of lope. But really would have liked to get off and at least see what Blade was looking at for future reference.
"Seriously? " Talon growled, "That's absolutely fantastic to know. " Moe squeaked a protest as the pilot hopped off and wandered over to get a look himself. So that rookie mechanic really screwed up his Zoid... there would be hell to pay. "I'll be able to make better time at least. Thanks for looking at least. " Talon would have to make a call no doubt and get the parts needed for the replacement. Chances are if one of the coolant pumps were bad, the others weren't too far behind. Yay...more money to be spent. Talon gave a heavy sigh and chuckled in frustration. "At least I don't need to replace the entire system. That's good news. "
The Tyrant growled appreciatively. At least someone figured out what was wrong! Sigh...silly skinnies...

While Moe carried Talon around in circles, the dragon MRZ watched as he dug at the ground out of boredom. At some point, he spotted something shiny from under the dirt and sand, causing him to dig around a little more to see what it was.
Blade nodded to Talon and stepped aside so the pilot could get a look at his own zoid. He didn't look too happy about the news, but at least he knew of the source now.
"Not a problem. But yeah, replacing the whole thing would be a pain for sure. There's a town a little to the east here that has some places that deals with used parts. If you're lucky you might be able to get something that's cheap but still in relatively good condition," he offered.
