The Rocket followed Faleen's gaze toward the door. "He'll be back," he explained, his tone carrying an unconcerned certainty, as if a loose Pokemon was no big deal. Switch liked to roam but never strayed too far from Hayes, who could open doors.
He didn't press and ask where she'd gone, what she'd studied, or why she'd left, and his handshake was firm but gentle. As the conversation turned back toward himself, there was a flicker of that sheepish grin again. "Little of both. They pay me for Team stuff and I've got a couple personal projects I fiddle with when I don't have a deadline and it's slow. Y'know." That sort of thing.
The Beldum still floated in the middle of the room; Hayes seemed to remember it now and hit the recall button. He nodded at the collection of screws and tools. "What's this thing you're working on?"

she listened to him politely, though she was very interested... and a little wishful, sounded like he had it made. watching him returning his pokemon, giving the Belbum one last hard glance before it vanished within the light of the pokeball. Her hand tightened on the hem of her skirt as she looked down at the jumble of parts, tilting her head as her brow raised, followed by a small sigh. "I broke it, was trying to take it apart and see what was wrong with it. I picked it up from the docks in the city, on one of the more... sketchy shipments, its supposed to disrupt ghost energy, used for clearing out hauntings. its illegal, so, can't just buy another one" shaking the pile, causing it to rattle around in her makeshift pouch.
"ganna see if I can-" Opening her mouth against to say something, Faleen stopped when she heard someone speak her name behind her. The Grunt turned sharply, but relaxed a little upon seeing the nurse coming back into the room, her Umbreon walking next to her.
the dark type's eyes met with his Masters, before they quickly flashed over to the man that had been speaking with her. they had not met this human yet. he didn't show signs of aggression, but he would remain watchful of him, until he understood what this master though of him.

He certainly seemed content. The Rocket had a peaceful, unhurried atmosphere about him, content to let the stress that often ran high through the base part and flow around him.
Now Hayes was listening, politely but intently, nodding along. His gaze followed Faleen's when she looked down at the clutter of components, flicking between different parts, identifying and potentially hooking them together in his head.
"See if you can..?" he repeated, wanting to hear the rest, when he heard her summons. The blond half-turned in a relaxed way, looking over his shoulder at the nurse. He smiled briefly at her, a reflexive thing, and looked down to the Umbreon with a glance at Faleen. "Who's this?" He seemed interested, but didn't approach the dark creature without its trainer's consent.

"He's my Umbreon" she said, sounding grateful that he was back out, she looked to Hayes. "Excuse me for just a moment" she said politely, before she stepped over to talk with the nurse "Can he return to his active training?" she asked hopefully, and with a positive confirmation from the nurse Faleen let out a relived sigh, looking down at her Umbreon. Thank goodness, not being able to train him had been quite troublesome. it had become quite important recently.
she finished up with the nurse, watching her watch away before glancing down to her Umbreon, then back over to Hayes. "Sorry about that, its hist last visit, thank goodness"

"Sure," Hayes nodded. The Rocket leaned back on his heels, hands in his pockets, giving the two a courteous distance while they reunited.
It wasn't long before a yellow shape returned, casually sauntering into the room. Switch paused, as if he was wandering through and just happened to spot Hayes, then bounded up his trainer's frame, settling into his usual position on his shoulder.
When Faleen turned back to Hayes, he was plus one electric mouse, which he was absently scratching behind the ear. "S'fine," he smiled, then conversationally: "Was it a pretty bad fight?" Many injuries from standard battles required little more than a visit, treatment and a followup; for the Umbreon to be in multiple times, it must have gotten into some serious trouble.

Faleen looked a little surprised to see the Pikachu suddenly on Hayes’ shoulder again, “Oh… he did come back” she said with a small, amused grin at the Pikachu. “Kinda” she replied to his question “it wouldn’t have been so bad if I hadn’t waited so long to bring him in.” at this she looked a little embarrassed, lifting a corner of her mouth with a shrug. “What can I say, I’m good at fixing machines, not flesh” she added, looking down at the jumble of parts in her skirt. There was a moment where she stood there after her explanation, looking back over to Hayes. “Looks like we’re both done here, it was nice meeting you Hayes. It’s nice to talk to someone about something other than pokemon training”

"Yeah, he kind of comes and goes." Hayes rubbed the base of the Pikachu's ear with a sort of vague fondness, while the electric Pokemon leaned in, eyes slitted. Aware he was being discussed, Switch opened them again and looked back at Faleen. "P'chu," he stated, with a flick of his ear.
Hayes listened as Faleen explained; his mouth quirked in a way that could be sympathetic.
"Well hey. If you've got the time, I could show you where Robotics is. I'm headed that way anyway, and-" He turned his hands palm-forward in an alternate shrug. "-you seem pretty interested." The understatement was accompanied with a flash of a grin. He reached up and pushed his glasses back into place.

She looked to the Pikachu with a half grin, he sure did seem to have a very lax way of life, come and go when he wanted. Not that was underestimated him, for all she knew, he earned that right. Getting ready to go, she looked to her Umbreon once more, reaching down to take up his pokeball and return him. But at Hayes’ offer, Faleen forgot all about her Pokeball, her eyebrows raised higher over her eyes as they widened slightly in clean interest. “What? Really? It’s not some kind of secure “no newbie grunts allowed” kinda place?” she asked to confirm. She didn’t even know the place existed, but she wouldn’t be surprised if it was restricted. Her hand moves up from her pokeball to practically hug the makeshift pouch.

"I dunno; they let me in there," Hayes mused, not entirely serious.
After a moment he shook his head, getting his bangs in his eyes again. "Don't worry. I mean, they don't let you wander around for no reason, but you've got a reason. And," he pointed out, looking Faleen straight in the eye with a little half-smile, "it's a perfect time to ask if they'll train you up."
He let that idea hang in the air.

She stared back at him, her mouth opening slightly as if to say something, but nothing comes out. joining rocket, she didn't expect to get allot of help, she was going to have to take the initiative, but so far, she's met Kofuku who taught her how to steal, and now Hayes is thinking she could go and study further in the robotics. This was... Awesome! "You think they might?" she said suddenly, perking up, her cheeks flushing a bit from excitement. "Well. I, I mean, you think it might be a problem that I've got allot of training to do with these guys ahead of Me." she said with a gesture to her Umbreon. She -had- made a commitment to Seth, she couldn't just back down with how badly she wanted to join his instructive class, and she didn't want to back down anyway, But to be able to work on metal again... She couldn’t keep her smile off her face,

"Sure," Hayes grinned, clearly enjoying Faleen's ardor for the subject. "They could use some girls over there. A girl," he corrected himself. The tech sector Rockets - at least those that were seriously dedicated to the field, rather than just dabbling and claiming alleigance - were woefully lacking in estrogen.
1337 may or may not have had something to do with this. "Pii, p'ka," Switch reminded Hayes sharply, sending out a little static shock.
"Ow." The blond rubbed the back of his neck. "Okay, yeah. He needs food, I need to get back to work. You coming?" He waited a moment for Faleen's response.
"Everyone trains," the Rocket continued as he headed for the doors. "Well, everyone who stays. You thinking of what Seth'll say?" He quirked a brow at her curiously.

"I'm quite used to being an male dominated projects." she said with a small shrugs, it didn't bother her, might bother -them- but not her, but this was Rocket, not some private school of teenagers or collage students with to much money from mommy and daddy. "... did he just shock you?" she asked, looking rather surprised, the way she understood it, pokemon were pretty obedient of their masters, her two were at least. hearing about the Pikachu's rather direct way of saying he was hungry, as Hayes explained. she tilted her head, then nodded "yeah, I'm coming" she confirmed, before moving onto his last question, shifting to start toward the door, waiting for him to take lead since she had no idea where she was going.
"yeah a little, I asked him personally to put me in his class, I don't want it to seem like I'm splitting my focus after that. not after he let me join the class..." she tilted her head, frowning a little and putting her free hand on her hip. staring at the ground, pondering.

"Huh?" Hayes blinked, looking a little surprised himself. "Oh, yeah. Just a little." He shrugged as if it were no big deal. Switch stared at Faleen from the blond's shoulder as if daring her to make something out of it. This is my human, his green eyes seemed to say. I'll do what I like.
The Rocket clipped his Beldum's Pokeball back on his belt and headed down the corridor, taking this turn, then that. Gradually, the hallways took on a.. clinical air, and the doors shifted from sliding glass or wood to reinforced metal. They passed an increasing number of people in lab coats. Hayes seemed unconcerned, and offered a smile or brief wave to one or two.
"Just let Seth know up front what you want; he's a computer guy, so he should see where you're coming from. Knowing robotics gives you added value. It'll help you out being used to guys, though, and I don't think any of them will mind you." Quite the opposite, really.

... She had just been silently reprimanded by a Pikachu... huh. interesting little electric mouse. Pulling up her pokeball to return her Umbreon and return the ball back to place before she set off after him, Taking note, and interest in the steady change of environment around the base. she hadn't been in this part before, there was still so much about the HQ that she had no idea even existed. this place was very big.
"... alright" she said, with a little grin, "thats good advice" she could use that. she didn't know Seth worked with computers. "it would be really nice to start building things again. thats for sure."
