Of couuuurse you do.
And my shower went just fine.
No killing. >[

I seem to go through phases of being able to sleep.
When I was a kid I'd get nightmares frequently but I'd be able to sleep no problem.
Preteen to mid-teens I had more nightmares and less sleep with being too frightened to sleep a lot but not typically low on energy
(I spent a lot of time being afraid of what was outside because I lived on the ground floor in a cabin on a mountain almost an hour away from civilization with a giant sliding glass door on one side of my bed and a giant mirror on the other. There were monsters and mountain lions outside my window and that was around the time I was afraid of mirrors.)
Now later in my teens I very rarely have nightmares and I sleep less but feel tired much more often.
My sleep keeps messing with me so I can't get comfortable with the patterns. D:

That's understandable.
One phobia pushed out the other?
I've never had a true supernatural experience so I'm still skeptical.
(Though in the past couple months there have been a couple incidents of me hearing voices in my home but I don't think that's ghosts, I think that's just me hearing voices.)

Oh yeah. I forget the further north you go the longer the day is in the summer.
In Vegas the sun sets around.... 8-ish at the height of summer.
But the latest I've seen it set is 10PM in late August in Seattle.
(During the school year I force myself to sleep but during the summer I wait for the sun to rise to sleep because I've accidentaly scared myself or something and when the sun rises everything will be okay.)

Pssh, we all know the scariest story is this one:

"So ur with ur honey and yur making out wen the phone rigns. U anser it n the vioce is “wut r u doing wit my daughter?” U tell ur girl n she say “my dad is ded”. THEN WHO WAS PHONE?"

I hate it when people do "pop-up whatever"
The picture of the family then suddenly whatever comes out of it startled me.
I was still looking at the thumbnail trying to figure out why it was creepy then it suddenly moved.
FFFFFFFFFF

Ah yes. That's such a cheap scare tactic. It's way too common in horror movies. There were a few of those in "The Wolfman."

Of course, the cheapest examples of that tactic I've seen were in "Stay Alive."

If the movie could talk:
"Oh! Audience! Look! The characters are walking in a scary place! Oh! The music is getting tense! I wonder what's going to . . . FLASH OF A DOLL WITH WORMS EATING IT!!! OH! We got you didn't we?!? YOU'RE SCARED, Aren't YOU?!? LOLOLOLOL"
Audience: "Actually, you've done it so many times that we were expecting it."
If the movie could talk: "You guys suck."
Audience: "not as much as you do."
If the movie could talk: ):

What a horrible film.

Also, the mentioning of being afraid of the dark reminds me of a quote from The Twilight Zone:
"there was nothing in the dark that wasn't there when the lights were on."

I saw mirrors....it was pretty creepy during parts where the Legion within them could control those outside. The whole tearing out of the jaw thing was the worst. I liked the movie but the ending was as dissapointing and confusing as the end of Silent Hill.

@Dornkus-I actually liked that movie, I mean it was bad and predictable, but the premise was interesting and cool....however...yet again the ending made no sense.

Probably one of the good, sick and twisted movies was that one about the ventriloquist. I think it was called Dead Silence. Dont get why ppl dont like that movie, I mean it was not terribly scary but the ending (or maybe it was the alternate ending) made me sick and REALLY creeped....human dolls is just wrong razz

Im an old school horror chick though. Nightmare, Hellraisers, and basically anything Wes Craven, puppet master, etc. Not really a Jason, chucky or Michael Myers person.

Dornkus:
I laughed.
Seriously, descripes the movie so freaking well

VampressLeone:
'bumps fists'
Hell yeah.
Nightmare on Elmstreet, Hellraiser and all that good stuff fans unite man.

I saw Dead Silence, and I must agree with you,
Not the scariest thing around but it had a cool ending,
also agree with you on Stay Alive, the story idea had potential,
it was done in a way that made it rather silly and not terrafying at all but if done right it could have been somthing grand.
As it is I kinda like it for being silly c:

ive always been creeped (sp? FailFox's spell checkers failing i think...) by ventriloquist dummies (holy s**t i spelled that right on my own biggrin ), Dead Silence didnt help any O.o

Stay Alive was good, but fell into all of the usual horror movie traps (EXTREMELY predictable at times, they dont stay together as a group in the spooky castle/tower, etc.)

*goes off to tvtropes.org and looks up Stay Alive*
...
....
.....
......

*comes back*

wat

just came back from a short wiki walk on tvtropes after looking up Stay Alive so i forgot what i was gonna say >.>

but its been awhile since ive seen Stay Alive so i dont remember much about it, other than it had its good moments and its bad moments

now if you'll excuse me, im off to go on a 3 hour wiki walk XD
(i kid you not, i can spend HOURS on tvtropes, clicking link after link, laughing my a** of the whole way)

Edit: almost forgot, (completely unrelated to thread, but this should come as no surprise to some of you) one of my favorite parts in Gears of War 2 is (and this is just copy-pasted from tvtropes, cause im a lazy b*****d right now razz ) At one point in Gears of War 2, Marcus and Dom see a long line of Locust drones walking far below them. Dom makes a comment about practicing with their sniper rifles, and for each successive kill, Marcus numbers his kills.

im more of a sniper in shooters, and its at this point in the game that you come across a sniper rifle with more than like 3 shots or so in it, so i figure, HELL YES! TIME FOR TARGET PRACTICE! XD
like 2 or 3 were head shots but not a single shot missed IIRC

heres what Marcus says with each shot (with BLAM! being a headshot, and, again, copy-pasted from the Gears of War page on tvtropes):

BLAM! "That's one."

BLAM! "That's two."

BLAM! "That's three."

BLAM! "That's four!

BLAM! "That's five, ******** href="https://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9WxjRozXFt8" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">you know you want to >:]

sadly, the guy in the vid linked fails with the sniper (first 2 shots missed, i mean, come on, its not that hard to hit them ffs) but yeah, i was like O.O damn, THAT WAS AWESOME!!! XD when this happened, and i got like 2 more kills or so, thinking Marcus would have more to say, though sadly, he doesnt D:

I actualy find them a bit very freaky as well.
SEE?!?! I am capable of getting freaked out by some things!
Actualy just dolls and puppets in general tend too make me slightly creeped out.
It's those souless eyes man! Staring at you all intensely!
=C
(nice job on the spelling btw. God knows I can't ever get that word right)
God know that those fancy porcelein dolls my grandma gave me creep me the hell out.

And yet I have this guy in my bedroom:
User Image
His name is Matz
:]
And according to other people he's disturping as all hell.
I've gotten used to him however. (I was scared of him when I was a child though)

I also get lost on wikiwalks.
Although mine always begin as something like reading about movies,
but within a few minutes I ussualy somehow
(or as my friends like too think: "Because I'm a disturped ******** up reading about serial killers/torture/sexual fetishes/gore movies/heinous crimes/and so on and so forth.

It's all wikipedias and it's clickable links fault I say!

.....
I swear I'm actualy not a sick, deprived violent person.
Honestly.
I think I've for example only ever kicked one person in the face.
And that was mostly on accident.

P.S
Again.
That poll.
Hilarious.

you've obvisoulsy never seen Alucard from Hellsing, it more frightening KNOWING HES ******** THERE then it is not knowing where the hell he is, he is the ******** definition of High Octane Nightmare Fuel ಠ_ಠ

and thats regardless of whether or not you've pissed him off; even if you're just on the sidelines, if you just happen to witness Alucard going ape s**t, you stare in horror and disbelief

if you're on the recieving end of Alucards' wrath, you do the above, while shitting yourself in pure horror

you have to remember that there are some things that are more frightening KNOWING that they're there then it is not knowing that they're there

Although it is true that I have never watched Hellsing, I do not think it would have been obvious based on the quote I supplied if you understood what I was actually saying.

My point was that when the lights go out, whatever is there now was there all along, and nothing new has appeared.

If you noticed a lion was in your room when your lights were on, of course it's going to still be scary (if not more scary) if the lights are off.

If you are attacked by a lion in the dark after turning the lights off, that means the lion had always been there; you just hadn't noticed.

Anyway, it was just a quote that I felt was relevant to the conversation, and I wasn't saying that things are less scary if you know they were there before your lights went out, nor did it deal with the knowledge of the presence of something. Things don't magically appear in the dark was all I was saying.

LIES AND DECEIT!

I'm kind of tired, also.

The "High Octane Nightmare Fuel" link was a good contribution. Right now I'm reading about some of the things in Fallout 3. I forgot how messed up the things in that game are.

Here are a couple more quotes relevant to the topic of this thread:

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
-H.P. Lovecraft

"But horror assumes many forms, one of the most effective being the subtle dread of something evil that should not exist."
-Some Guy

For some odd reason, I love murder mysteries, CSI, and all those things that involve murder, autopsies and psychotic killers, but when it comes to horror flicks, I completely freak out at them. must be the whole pop out of nowhere thing or maybe too many slaughtering scenes.
Seriously I even freaked out at a horror flick with an evil Leprechaun. *I am not kidding. I jumped everytime the little ****** popped out* redface

@klikkhaus:
Since you mentioned the whole supernatural thing: freaky when that sort of thing happens, ain't it?
We have a couple of guardian ghosts in our house. And the day of my uncle's funeral, his ghost kept popping up and telling me a bunch of things. It was really freaky. eek
but I get it from my grandma's side of the family. She also sees and feels things. Everytime something's about to happen, we both know about it. Especially when it comes to nearby family/friend deaths.
Believe me if you want to or not. I fully believe in the supernatural.
