The first hint of humor seemed to touch upon the tall girl's face as she let out a laugh. It wasn't a small laugh, but a rather hearty one. "Oh god, ya sound like my mom! She's always sayin' that!"
Once again, she placed both of her hands behind her head and just stood there. At least this time she had a grin on her face. It was probably a welcome change for Robin.
The quick change of subject did not seem to catch Ellie by surprise at all. In fact, it almost seemed expected, after seeing what Pinky considered to be good reading material. Her answer curiously seemed well thought out as she paused, looked to the darkening sky above, and tilted her head ever so slightly. "Let me see 'ere... last I checked, I hadn't done that before. So guess my answer would have t'be 'no.'"
Ellie hadn't gone monster hunting before. Heck, Ellie hadn't gone Youma hunting either. Sailor Iris had gone youma hunting, but never technically monster hunting. Oh, there were so many ways to weave this that made the answer Ellie offered technically correct.
In the sake of conversation, she bounced the question back with a simple "Have you?"

"Of course!" No sense in playing coy about this subject - at the slightest invitation, Robin was all over it, standing at the ready with at least six stories of her daring escapades called immediately to mind. A meeker conversation partner could have been stampeded by the sudden rush of excitement Robin displayed, pushing ahead with her favorite topic of conversation; lucky that Ellie didn't seem that sort. "All the time! Monsters, ghosts, spirits - I investigate it all! I keep records on a blog, you know, and I've got pictures and everything. Man, if you were there a few weeks ago -- God I wish I had those pictures, we met the ghost of Pecos Bill, and it was completely frickin' awesome--"
You'd think someone would get tired eventually, talking at a million miles a minute and all but bouncing where they sat. At the very least, you'd think they'd have to come up for air. But Robin seemed to have mastered the art of breathing and talking without pause, and just kept trucking on through.
"-- And I'm sort of between investigations right now, but I know this boy that I think is a robot and I'm thinking about following him around and seeing what I can learn." Finally, a break in the action, while Robin tapped her finger on her jawline. "What do you think?"

One word came to mind as this girl began to regurgitate a mess of words.
NERD!
Sure, most people were technologically savvy, especially in the modern society. Yet for some reason, the minute a person mentioned a blog, Ellie's ears went deaf to the world about all the possible logical and good reasons why someone would keep a blog. They were instantly labeled as a nerd, and Pinky was now labeled as a nerd.
Ellie had most certainly phased out of listening for a while, only to find that the girl was still rattling on after she phased back in again. This girl certainly talked a lot. When Robin ever so graciously offered a place for Ellie to insert her opinion, she told it as she saw it.
"I think th'legal term fer that's stalking, kiddo." The tall girl could have easily spun that around for a joke, and maybe if she was in the company of a more tolerable person, she would have been kind enough to do such. Instead, her gold eyes just looked over the cotton candy haired girl in a near lack-luster fashion.
"I'd just be careful if I were ya." Two cents. Ellie at least offered them.

"Pfffft." With a wave of her hand, Robin dismissed all concerns. Stalking? Her? Never! She was a mischief-maker! She didn't stalk, she merely observed... obsessively... over a long period of time.
... Okay well, maybe that wasn't a convincing way to argue it. But still, she was unworried. Even if she did get caught and had such an unappealing label slapped on her forehead, it would be worth it to further the cause of investigation. "I'm a pro at this, don't worry," she declared - because Ellie, obviously, was very concerned for the pink-haired troublemaker. Clearly.
"Anyway, you should come with me one of these days! On an investigation!" If ever there was a mark of how little Robin realized the opinions of her companion, that had to be it. She was sincere - earnest, even. It wasn't quite puppy-like, that pleading look she gave Ellie, but it certainly evoked some brand of hopelessly friendly invitation. "You know, you get to get out and get some exercise, see some interesting things, head to places you don't usually go... even when it's a total wash, it's a lot of fun! And I'll bring snacks!" Even non-candy ones, just for Ellie.

Ellie was visualizing Pinky's suggestion as if it was a balloon. Floating up in the air higher and higher until it was tugging at its string.
Ellie was also visualizing that she had a pin. And she was about to pop that balloon real quick like.
"I've got better things t'do with m'time, kiddo." Studying for a motorcycle license test was still number one on that list, with working in the garage, hanging out at Hank's garage, and eating Mexican food ranking right under that. The Sailor Scout business was not on that list. There was a good reason it was not on that list.
Either way, the last thing she needed to see was Pinky's eyes do whatever they did when they were sad. Some girl's did weird things with their eyes when they got sad, but all usually had the same effect. Let us guilt-trip the offending party. Casually, Ellie turned away again, in an effort to avoid such obnoxious tactics.
And as if to add salt to the wound, she tossed in for good measure "...so, ya done talkin' yet?"

There was just one problem.
Robin wasn't disappointed, or crushed. She wasn't trying to guilt-trip, or using any other sort of manipulation. No, she was just sitting there - smiling. Confident. Waiting. Why? Because she was an expert in getting people to do what she wanted. A professional. She had patience, and she had no shame; and if someone told her no, all it really meant was no, not yet.
"I guess so," she answered, her tone casual and pleasant. "For now, anyway. But you know... I don't think I got your name yet, did I?"

Her tone became a bit distanced as she pointed out to Pinky "Shouldn't have t'give ya m'name. Y'already know my 'secret.' Kinda hurt ya don't even bother t'learn the names of the people ya learn secrets 'bout."
She wasn't hurt. Not one bit. The grin she had on her face was proof enough to that, even if the grin wasn't facing the other girl.

A musing look crossed Robin's face at this point, and impishly, she suggested, "You know... it almost sounds like you're inviting me to snoop it out. It's like you're saying, Robin, I don't have enough excitement in my life - please, find ways to make it more interesting!"
Robin rather hoped that that was what Ellie was saying, actually. Because Robin herself never had enough excitement in her life - making it herself was her little way of staying sane in a world that was too mundane for her. So why not play a little game of Rumplestiltskin? It would be an easy round, sure, but it wasn't like there were any stakes involved, so who cared!

Ellie's shoulders rolled into a shrug, still not bothering to turn around to look back at the girl. She offered an observation to point out how difficult this task would be.
"Ya know, it really ain't that hard t'figger out... y'just gotta look in th'right places... do whatever ya want, kiddo... I'm leavin'..."
Before Robin could argue otherwise, the tall girl let her arms go back to a normal level and began jogging away. She had already wasted enough time here just to let some idiot girl know she f*cked up royal. Hopefully Pinky wasn't going to make a habit out of this.
