((Ah, so it was a continuous one, I thought it might be but I wasn't sure. I'll just edit the post slightly then.))

Spotting the incoming orb, Haruko quickly debated over changing her current manuver to a shield or to keep up the act. 'Okay, I've already successfully forced her to use one of her orbs and even if I did use a shield, I have no idea what effect that orb holds meaning there's a chance for it to break through my defenses...wait! What's with those handsigns?' Knowing that she didn't have much time till the attack came, Haruko decided to drop her illusion and chance a defensive skill.

Haruko changed from playing a soft melody consisting of various notes to playing a single note repeatively. "Oto shouheki no jutsu (Sound barrier)." Her clones faded away with the sudden change in sound and right before the attacks collided, a dome like barrier of sound surrounded Haruko protecting her from both the orb and the scythe.

Amaranth's smile faded as a dome shaped shield surrounded Haruko, the silver sphere smashing into the barrier directly in front of her, but slowly sliding along to the left. Moments later, the scythe hit the barrier, the tip of the blade penetrating the shield slightly before being forced out, the scythe now directly above the barrier. Without any further obstacles to block it's path, the scythe finally completed it's journey, Amaranth grabbing the black scythe shaft as the weapon sped towards her.

Thinking for a moment, Amaranth attempted to devise a method for breaking through the barrier. It was made of sound... so she could either stop the source, which wasn't likely as Haruko was within the barrier, or she could attempt to disrupt it somehow...

Disrupting the sound... only a loud noise would actually stand a chance, if this plan even worked, but the enclosed dome of the stadium should, in theory, amplify any sound she managed to make. And now the sound itself, a shout wouldn't do... if the source was constant, he disruption would need to be too... She could hit the wall with the scythe, if she hit it hard enough the scythe may act like a gong, vibrating and producing a sound for a few moments... Still, she needed a backup plan, and glancing back up towards the dome, she discovered one.

Twirling the scythe around, Amaranth flicked her wrist and sent the head of the scythe smashing into the wall causing the scythe to shake and producing a loud, shrill noise as vibrations coursed though it's metal frame. With the vibrations now spreading to her arm, disrupting her balance, Amaranth flailed around her left arm, sending the silver orb she held flying towards the roof of the dome, located just above Haruko, attempting to make it seem accidental. After launching the orb, the large genin charged towards Haruko and her barrier, the vibrating scythe in her right hand occasionally causing her to stumble occasionally. Reaching the barrier, Amaranth swung her scythe, the blade now producing a low hum as the vibrations slowed down.

Then everything happened at once. As the scythe connected with the barrier, the jutsu around Amaranth's leg ended, the long gash quickly reappearing and causing the genin to wince in pain as she tried to force the scythe through the barrier. The silver sphere struck it's target, hitting one of the large bright lights hanging from the roof and causing the supports holding it to rust away. Without something to hold it up, the light dropped, gathering speed as it plummeted towards Haruko...

Haruko watched as her barrier deflected Amaranth's first orb and was surprised to hear an attack be deflected from behind her. Turning her head quickly, Haruko eyes watched as Amaranth's scythe flew over her barrier and towards her outstretched hand. 'S***, I have a bad feeling about this.' Still playing that one single note, Haruko continued to intently watch Amaranth as she waited for the next strike to come.

'What is she looking around for? It couldn't be that she trying to find some way to disrupt the soundwaves could it? I mean if she is, I wouldn't be surprised, afterall, this isn't the first time that it has happened to me.' Shifting her footing, Haruko prepared to jump away at anytime. What occured next, was pretty unexpected, Haruko had thought that Amaranth would've done what most others had done and just try to disrupt the waves with an explosion tag but her former student never ceases to impress her. 'D*** it. This is really unexpected, what should I do?' Pumping more chakra into the soundwaves, Haruko attempted to hold on to her barrier for as long as possible. Chancing a glance upward, Haruko watched as the orb continued to fly upward towards the top of the roof but the bright blinding lights stopped her from seeing where the orb would hit.

Haruko tsked as she returned her gaze back to Amaranth and grounded her feet in preparation for what was to come. As soon as the scythe connected with her barrier, Haruko felt the struggle between her and Amaranth as they both tried to fight against each other's attack/defense. Haruko could feel her barrier weakening and decided to use Amaranth's momentum against her. In one swift movement, Haruko stopped playing and quickly leaped off to the side. As she leaped away, Haruko was able to successfully dodge the scythe but the incoming light was unexpected and Haruko felt it connect with her right ankle moments before she crashed into the ground. Forcing herself up, Haruko picked up her koto and stumbled as she tried to regain her footing. Placing most of her foot on her left foot, Haruko placed a hand on her koto and waited to see if Amaranth would continue. 'Seems, her jutsu ended and the wound she recieved eariler has returned...so what now? Are you going to continue?'

Stumbling forwards as the shield vanished, Amaranth attempted to swing the scythe at Haruko, but missed when she overextended the swing, causing her to lose balance. Twisting her wrist slightly, she directed the blade into the ground behind her as she fell, using the blade as an anchor to prevent her fall and to curve her path. This change in direction allowed Amaranth to recover from the fall and continue with a limping run towards her foe.

Hurriedly removing the scythe from the ground with a slight arm movement, Amaranth thrust her weapon forwards, launching into a combination attack consisting of taijutsu attacks and strikes with the scythe. Her attacks were odd however, having to sacrifice the occasionally chance to attack in order to maintain a adequate defense and protect her injured leg. She was really running out of time, if she didn't end this soon... she would lose...

Haruko whinced when she saw Amaranth remove her scythe from the ground most likely having stabbed it to help prevent herself from falling and charge at her in a series of taijutsu/weapon strikes. Haruko noticed that by now both of them were somewhat limping from their injuries and knew that it was only a matter of time before one of them loses. 'It's all up to who can last out the longest...though I haven't used up too many jutsus all this moving around is taking it's toll on me...'

Haruko hopped to her left as she avoided another attack from Amaranth and quickly began thinking of a way to finish the battle. 'It's now or never, we both can't keep this up forever but with her attacking me like this, I don't have much of a chance to attack. I could go on the defensive but that would also allow her a chance to recouperate as well...screw it. I'm gonna take this gamble.' At the next chance she got, Haruko quickly placed some distance between her and Amaranth while she was giving up a chance to attack her in order to maintain her defense and swiftly dropped her koto to her feet before forming the handsigns neccessary for her defensive jutsu. 'I don't have much chakra left but I should have enough to pull through with this plan. Hopefully it works...' Slamming her plams face down on the ground, Haruko activated her jutsu. "Doton: Tsuchi Enchou no Jutsu (Earth Dome)." A dome made of solid earth erupted from the ground and surronded Haruko in a protective 3 inch barrier of earth.

From inside the barrier, Haruko began panting as she felt her chakra being drained from her as she continued to maintain the barrier. Not sure how long she has, Haruko quickly moved on to step two. Closing her eyes, Haruko focused chakra to her eyes and activated her kekkei genkai. When she opened her eyes again, her vision changed from regular everyday vision to ultrasound. With her bloodline ablity activated, Haruko was able to see through her barrier and locate Amaranth's location. 'Alright, she's approximately 2 feet from the edge of the dome. That's all I needed to know.' Cancelling her kekkei genkai, Haruko proceeded onto step three and with this, her chakra would've almost reached it's limit. Haruko took in a deep breath before forming the familiar handsigns for her earth spike technique. Slamming her hands to the ground, Haruko set for the spikes to appear around Amaranth and hoped for the best.

Amaranth's attacks were slowing. As Haruko leapt aside, she attempted to swing the scythe shaft into her foe's stomach, but by the time it got close, a barrier of earth was already up, deflecting the attack and sending Amaranth staggering back. As she recovered and moved to counterattack, there was a deep rumbling sound, and spikes of earth penetrated the ground once more. This time however, they seemed to be less directed and more spread out then last time, it seemed that Haruko was tiring too...

Amaranth stepped backwards as a spike shot up in front of her, wincing in pain as she moved her injured leg, before her eyes widened in surprise and pain as one of the spikes shot up and hit her in the left shoulder. The impact sent her crashing forwards into the ground, a long slash along her left shoulder blade beginning to bleed. Slowly propping herself up with her left elbow, Amaranth looked over to the earthen dome still protecting Haruko and sighed, this final attack probably wouldn't work, but it was better then just giving up...

Quickly making a series of handsigns with her left hand, Amaranth prepared her final attack. With the handsigns gone, Amaranth quietly murmured "Shourou Tama No Jutsu", causing a silver glow to surround her right hand and slowly spread along her scythe, occasionally stopping then jumping forward as if the chakra was being forced along. Finally, the scythe was covered in the dull silver aura, and Amaranth paused only a moment before swinging her right arm and throwing it towards the dome, the scythe receiving a sudden burst of speed once it left her hand.

Once she threw the scythe, Amaranth fell back to the ground, moving her left arm so she didn't further injure her shoulder. Exhausted and now out of chakra, all she could do was watch her last attack. The scythe flying through the air towards her opponents defense...

From within the barrier, Haruko tsked when her chakra depleting at a much quicker pace then she expected and had to cut her jutsu short. Panting rathered heavily by now, Haruko wondered just how longer she had before she needed to cancel her barrier. Her question was soon answered when she heard the sound of an incoming attack. 'This is most likely going to be the final attack, here it comes...' Bracing herself for the attack, Haruko listened with anticipation as Amaranth's scythe connected with her protective dome.

At first, nothing happened but then Haruko began to hear the cracking of earth and knew almost immediately that Amaranth had most likely used her aging technique on her dome. Haruko watched as the small area of earth around the place where the scythe connected began to dry up and crumble to dust. A fairly large hole now exposed an opening into her barrier and Haruko knew better than to keep up her barrier now that her defenses have been penatrated so she just cancelled it. Pushing herself off the ground, Haruko staggered a bit with her footing but was able to remain standing as she took out a kunai. "So, what's it going to be Amaranth-san, are we done?"

Amaranth sighed loudly. It was over. From her current position, there was nothing she could do. "Damn...." she muttered, before looking up to Haruko and stating "I can't win, would you like to surrender? Otherwise, I've lost." She had been so close too... Still, it had been a good chance to test her abilities and had given her a great idea for a jutsu... If only she had a defensive ability to use during the fight...

((Aaaannnddd.... It's over.... Damn... I lost... Unless Haruko does decide to surrender.))
PostPosted: Tue Mar 30, 2010 8:19 pm

Haruko shook her head in response to Amaranth's statement, "Sorry, Amaranth. I might be tired but I don't think I'm wiling to surrender just yet. You've improved alot though since I first met you, good work." Walking over to her former student, Haruko reached out her right hand to help Amaranth up from the ground.

{Sorry Kiiyashi, not likely to happen. Great fight though! smile }

"Oh well... It was worth a try." She said, before taking the offered hand and getting to her feet, favoring her left leg. Limping over to where her scythe lay, she picked it up before looking around the stadium. After glancing past all the earthen spikes, small craters and the broken light, she spotted what she was looking for, her scarf and the kunai she had tied to it. Grabbing these, Amaranth wrapped the scarf around her neck again and then lent on her scythe, now she just needed to wait for Death's announcement of who had became Chuunin.

((Yeah, I know. But it was worth a shot and extended that pitiful post... Yeah, it was))

Appearing in the center of the stadium, Death announced, "This match's winner is Haruko!!" The crowd was roaring after such an exciting battle. A lot had happen and both opponents showed their power. Walking towards Haruko and Amaranth, Death told them, "Very good job today. you should both get some rest and I'll announce the new chuunin tomorrow. Sleep well, and again, well done. You are dismissed."

Kyoma Sakura

Kyoma stood, along with the rest of the audience, and clapped. She ran to the railing and waved her hand out, "You did it, Haru-chan!" She smiled, happy for her friend. There's no doubt about it, Haru-chan did very well. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd be the one who makes it as a chuunin. Kyoma put her hand down, looking to Haruko's opponent. She did really good, too. I have to say, that this battle was definitely worth watching.

Amaranth nodded as Death announced the battle's end, and then limped out of the arena and into the rooms inside, hoping to find some bandages and disinfectant to treat her wounds. Entering the participants rooms, the wounded contestant grabbed the medical supplies from a cupboard and then sat down on a nearby bench, beginning the difficult process of treating her own wounds. A short time later, Amaranth left the stadium, limping back to the main part of the village.

Haruko nodded in response and beckoned Rei downward. Leaning on Rei for support, Haruko waited for Death's announcement. '*sigh* I'm so tired, it's been awhile since I had such a challenging fight.' After Death's announcement, Haruko smiled and gave Death a polite bow. "Thank you Death-sensei, I eagarly await the results." Turning to face Kyoma, Haruko returned the girl's wave and smiled before dispersing her summoning and walking over to Kyoma's location. "Hey there, what's up? How did you find the fight?"
