Mersi smiled, following carefully into the room. "Did the genies tell you about the flowers?" She didn't see where Kincaid had started the fire, but caught the end of it as fire flared up in the oil, gasping softly at the effect.
She gapped at the invention like a small child before remembering herself, clamping her mouth shut. "That's very clever." She said simply, her tone saying how impressed she really was.
"Okay." Before sitting, she padded over to peek into the room without the door. The scent from the room was strong, but not unpleasant. Manners!! She pulled her head back instantly, heading straight for the pillows. One shouldn't poke ones nose into a room without invitation! "Thank you." She said, settling onto one and placing her hands in her lap.

"No, it was the little people that told." He laughed softly and noted her reaction to his invention with a pleased smile. "Well this place was originally for some cattaurs to hide away and such. But since I don't have magic to light the place, fire had to work instead."

"You're welcome." Kincaid looked at Mersi with a calm smile, "So do you want anything to eat or drink before I begin?" He asked politely as he headed towards the second room. "I can make tea or dig up some snacks, I usually keep this place well supplied just in case something does happen."

Mersi nodded. Cattaurs. Of course they'd have a place like this hidden away. Though, it'd really be good for anyone.
"Unless you're planning to fix something for yourself, a cup of tea would not be turned down." She looked down, a hand petting the pillows. He really had made this a cozy place to be in. It made her think about expanding her cellar... Maybe one day.

"Well I might just be then." He grinned playfully before disappearing into the second room. Past the herbs and flowers was a smaller room - more like a closet than anything - where Kincaid kept actual food and supplies.

The foxtaur hummed as he took a teapot and hung it over a fire. Kincaid poured fresh water in from a jar and added tea leaves. "I hope she likes rosehip." He whispered with a grin before making sure that the water was boiling good.

Then he started shuffling through the shelves cut into the walls. A basket with a cloth over it contained honey-oat bread and some cheese that his mother had given him the other day. Dried apples were also thrown in the basket that Kincaid picked up and took to Mersi.

"Here. The tea will be finished soon, but there's food in the basket if you feel like a snack." He commented before disappearing into the second room again.

Mersi waited patiently, watching without really watching as Kincaid set the tea.
She perked up when a basket was brought, and she took it carefully. "Thank you. Maybe I will indulge a little." She lifted the cloth, smiling at the simple yet tasty snack in the basket. She broke of some cheese and bread, trying to not take large bites like she was tempted, catching the crumbs in her hand, licking them up when she was sure the male couldn't see.

"Go for it." Kincaid replied before returning to the tea. It was steaming and the color was good...so it must be finished. With a smile the foxtaur made sure to strain the leaves from the brew before pouring the rich tea into cups.

"There's sugar in the small bowl on this tray if you want some mixed in with your tea." Commented Kincaid as he came back. The tray clattered lightly as the foxtaur settled down next to Mersi. He grinned at her before breaking a piece off of the bread, "Hungry, Mersi?"

Mersi licked up another renegade crumb before straightening her back again as Kincaid sat next to her. "No sugar, thank you. And, well," She plucked up an apple piece, holding it up in a toast-like fashion. "-it's good, and I was walking around the market most of the afternoon. I'll be fine with a small snack until later." She said, taking a bite of the dried fruit to emphasize her point.

Kincaid shrugged, "To each his own." The foxtaur teasingly dumped some sugar into his tea cup and stirred absently before taking a sip. "Ah." Kincaid grinned at Mersi, "That's completely understandable."

The male stretched out on the pillows before picking up his tea again. "So tell me some about yourself, anything stressing you or is life being nice to you?" His golden gaze looked up at with interest. He did enjoy listening to others after all.

Mersi blew gently on her tea, taking a small sip. She frowned curiously as she swallowed. What an unusually delightful taste. She took another small sip while Kincaid was making himself comfortable, holding the liquid on her tongue. Tea at her house was just tea. This had more flavor to it.
She looked over in surprise, blushing slightly at his request and staring into the depths of her cup. She wasn't one to talk about herself. She didn't want to seem ungrateful for his hospitality though.
"Well... With my daughter all grown and living on her own in town, I have the house to myself. Um, right now, I'm just getting ready for the coming season." A nail tapped at her cup, wondering what else to say. Did he actually want to know about her, or was he just being polite? "H-how much do you want to know?"

Kincaid stared in his tea as he carefully swirled the liquid around in the cup. Hmm...didn't sound like Mersi had much stress - loneliness was a possibility? But then again he knew that having a house to himself never bothered him.

"Ah." Kincaid looked up and nodded, "As much as you feel up to telling me, Mersi." The foxtaur grinned mysteriously, "That way I can judge what to use on ya! Still if not I can make do." Just something relaxing would be nice itself if there wasn't anything else to help. He decided.

"What to use on me?" She cocked her head, confused before covering it with a smirk. "You mean you're choosing between your witty charm or you debonair gentleman allure? Or perhaps there's a sultry sexy side of you that desires some light?"
She shook her head with a chuckle, stirring the tea with a gentle turn of her hand. "I don't think there's much to me." She said softly, wondering what to tell. "I suppose the most of it is that I tend to have two sides. One is the hunter, and the other is more... "lady" appropriate. For my parents." She sighed a little, looking deeply into the cup she held. He already knew of her hunter side from the market. He was willing to listen, so...

"Oh?" Kincaid leaned forward with a grin threatening on his twitching lips. The foxtaur's voice came out like a cattaur's deep purr as he got incredibly close."Is that how you see me now? A hopeful vision? An angel sent for your desires?"

He paused his golden gaze molten, "Alas, I'll just crush your dreams. For there's no sexy side coming out at the moment." He chuckled low in his throat before pulling back.

In a flash, Kincaid's expression was all business like, "Hmm?" If he had a notebook the taur would be writing down quick notes, "Two sides? Doesn't that stress you sometimes? Always hiding that other side from your parents?" His tail twitched with interest. "And you've never thought once of telling them? Or won't they listen?"

Mersi reflexively leaned back from Kincaid as he came closer. Admittedly, his voice was one that echoed warmly in her ears. Once he pulled back again, she was able to laugh it off. "You only wish I thought that."
She shook her head, back to serious again. "It- well- I suppose it does..." She sipped more of the tea. Either she was going crazy or he had slipped a sedative into her tea. She wanted to talk about it with him! She had promised to not complain about the opposite sides of herself. "Tell them? Dad wouldn't want me to be a hunter save for getting my own food. Mom had two boys and a girl. She wants her girl to be and act like a girl." She stuck her lip out slightly. "Not that hunters can't also be females. I pretty much had to train myself, with some help from one of the smithy males in town."

Kincaid small grin was his only reply to Mersi's laughter. The foxtaur's face was openly listening and fully serious as he listened to Mersi. The only thing he did was stir absently at his tea before looking back up at her and stirring again.

"Ah. So you're afraid that they'll be saddened by your actions then?" Kincaid watched her while he sipped his tea. "I understand that mother thing though - thankfully my mom has two daughters." He chuckled dryly, "So wearing ribbons didn't last beyond my childhood thankfully."

"So you had help from town?" Kincaid nodded, "Well at least you weren't completely alone. What about your brothers? Did either of them know?" He smiled up at her, "It helps when you tell others sometimes - relieves stress ya know?"

Flipping her ears back, Mersi stared into the second room full of plant life. "I don't know what they'd say. I'm sure they'd be disappointed though. Especially now after all this time that I've held it up." She looked up in surprise at the injected humor, allowing a smirk at the thought of the male gussied up in ribbons.
"We haven't seen one of them since we became teenagers, so he wouldn't have known. My other brother... He found out a while ago. He has kept it secret for me though. We don't talk much about it." She frowned slightly. "I didn't think there was much to talk about."
