I don't even have to try hard to pass-
Hush, and tell them what I'm telling you. These two are honestly asking us for our opinions and it's our duty as a fellow Rider to give them advice and correction.
L'pin's tone wasn't overly harsh at all despite how his words may have sounded and Shamth would have rolled his eyes were it possible. The Blue did give in though to the requests of his rider and soon repeated the judgment they'd both passed, both the good and the bad. In order to let the rider hear the unfiltered version Shamth spoke directly to Jasrai, something the young woman was likely to notice he did without pleasure.
The major problem is you, human, not your dragon. It seems like while you're flying around doing your fancy tricks the two of you are in perfect sync yet when it comes down to important patterns you're moving way too soon. Even if you and yours are linked together through an unbreakable bond that almost passes words you're taking too much without giving enough back.
There was no mention in there about the danger, mostly about the carelessness of how they seemed to focus only on their tricks and not the proper training.
. . .Mine does want to say however that he was rather impressed. You've got a good eye for riding basics, he just wishes you'd put it into something more fruitful. you won't be able to trickride in a Wing, he says.
L'pin had been monitoring what his dragon was saying and he nodded his head in agreement, glad that Shamth hadn't decided to set a spin on anything during the shift over. He doubted his lifemate would actually do that, Shamth more or less always did whatever L'pin asked of him, but it never hurt to sometimes have doubts.
Is there anything else you can do, or do you want us to show you a thing or two?

They're blaming you! Roseth said angrily after relaying L'pin's assessment. How dare they blame you!
Pax, Roseth, Jasrai said, trying to send soothing feelings to her dragon, even though she, herself wasn't particularly pleased either.
Jasrai was not fond of being criticized, but she had asked for this, and if she started feeling resentful and grumbling, Roseth would only get worse. After all, the green wanted nothing to do with L'pin or Shamth and had been against approaching them to begin with. Which meant Jasrai would have to just grit her teeth and bear it. Besides, it wasn't as though she'd never been told things she didn't like hearing. People around the Weyr rarely had anything pleasant to say about her as a dragonrider.
But what about what they said about our tricks?
Well, they're right. In a wing, it won't be necessary, or even tolerated very well, but there's a strong possibility we won't be placed in a wing. It's not as though we're well-liked, you know, Jasrai responded. She didn't think about the fact that Roseth might choose to relay part of that.
To Shamth, Roseth said, We might not be placed in a wing. We'd hardly be welcomed with open arms. Why shouldn't we learn to fly for our own pleasure?
Apologize, Jasrai said firmly. And tell them we would appreciate seeing whatever they wish to show us.
Roseth was not happy, but she obeyed. She even managed to sound like she didn't want to bite Shamth too much.
