Well... of course Lex would love her, but he wouldn't have as much time and that wasn't fair! She'd been there first. He was Hers. She didn't want to share, why should she? She wasn't making him share her with anyone else. They should just belong to each other. That would be best. "Well... I guess." She did want him to be happy though. If she wasn't enough to make him happy anymore then... she supposed she'd just have to get used to it.
"Erp..." Oh shards, why hadn't he thought of this? It should have been pretty obvious, but he'd been so busy choosing the wines themselves and then preening like an idiot that the obvious had passed him by. The bowls didn't sound like an amazing idea really, so that left either having a bottle each... or as she said, sharing.
Well, you only lived once.
Alexius took a sip from the bottle before passing it to Ranaru with a slight smile. "I suppose we'll just have to see, won't we?" Shells that had been corny. Ah well, maybe after half a bottle of wine making a fool of himself would seem to matter a lot less... The carpenter really was quite pretty, now he looked at her. It hadn't really occurred to him before. How odd.

Ranaru's face turned six shades of red when the bottle was offered to her after Lex had already taken a sip and, despite thinking there could be germs involved and he might find her a lose spirit (even though she had made the suggestion herself), she took a swallow herself. The wine was just as good as she thought it would be, and she gave off a content and happy sigh as the flavor stayed in her mouth.
"Oh wow, indeed. This is wonderful, how did you get your hands on such a bottle? I think this will go well with whatever I've brought, or might actually make it better."
That was a subtle way of saying that Ranaru hoped they'd both drink enough to not notice if the food tasted good or bad, not that she still didn't have enough confidence in her skills. Her mother and father had never complained when it was her turn to make the evening meals, but then again family was more than likely to lie to her to help her feel better. They often lied to her about the scars on her leg or her chances of finding a partner, so how would her food be any different?
I like what you do and all about you. That is enough for now.
It amused Ranaru to hear her Where say 'for now' as if he understood her desire to want to be with someone eventually. Ruskie was always surprising her with how well he understood despite not being nearly as smart as the others. She kept the smile on her face as she reached over and started to pull out her different items she made, setting them down on the cloth in their wrappings.
"So, um...what would you like to eat first? I have several different meat rolls, I tried different spices on each so I can't be quite sure of the tastes."

"Oh? Well, I'm glad you like it," Alexius accepted the bottle back and took another sip... An indirect kiss? Well it was certainly as close as he'd ever come to a kiss save a kiss on the cheek from his mother. He was too old to learn all of this stuff now, surely, first kisses came when you were fourteen or something... and he hadn't even got to that bit yet, they were just sharing a bottle.
Speaking of bottle, he'd just been sitting here holding it for a while now. He set the bottle down, and tried to remember what they'd been talking about. Ah yes, wine and food. "An uncle of mine's a vinter," he explained, "in return for him never needing to buy clothes, I never need to buy wine... How about we start with those," he gestured to some meatrolls more or less at random, "I'm sure they'll be lovely."
"Maybe you should drink more wine," Alexisk suggested, for now at least the desire to help her handler outweighing her desire for this to go wrong so she could keep him all to herself. "You're never tense when you drink a lot of wine... It does make you silly though, so you should make sure she does too or she'll think you're an idiot."

"Alright then, this set it is."
Ranaru pulled a single large roll over on a plate and cut into it with the silverware she'd brought along, careful to cut the piece in half as evenly as possible. Her feelings of hesitation were slowly going to the wayside with the more she drank and the more she talked, her natural loose personality also helping in making things a bit easier to handle. IUt ended up that one piece was only slightly larger than the other and she offered that up to Alexius, a timid and worried look in her eyes as a stark contrast to the somewhat confident smile she wore on her lips.
"If it doesn't taste good feel free to toss it or give it to Ruskie. Poor thing's practically grown up off my horrible cooking so I doubt anything new from this point on would hurt him in the slightest."
Rana's cooking is nice. I'd eat even if he didn't offer.
That's somewhat reassuring.

Alexius accepted the meatroll carefully, shivering internally as his fingers brushed against hers. He was too old for this! He was a mature man, an excellent crafter, he was... he was... Shardit, why did he have to be so nervous? This was Ranaru, he knew her some little, there was no cause at all to go to pieces just because their friends had decided to pair them up and send them off on a picnic...
Meatroll.
He was just holding the meatroll, and looking at Ranaru like some sort of creep. Feeling a bit of colour rise to his cheeks, the tailor hastily cast his eyes down and bit into the meatroll. "Mmfh," he said, before remembering to chew and swallow. "It's lovely," he clarified with a brief embarrassed smile, quickly taking another mouthful to emphasise the point. It was nice; not the best thing he'd ever tasted ever but certainly better than he was accustomed to eating on a regular basis. "You should come and cook for me more often... Err..." You should come and cook for me more often? What the sharded kind of thing was that to say? "...If you want to, of course."
"Mine is very strange tonight," Alexisk commented to the other wher. "Is yours being as strange as he is?" She didn't know how the other human usually acted, so she could hardly judge that.

"Really? If you don't mind me bothering and maybe messing up your kitchen then I would love to cook for you. That's also if you don't mind eating bad food since I'm mildly surprised that you like the meatrolls. I could have made them better, but. . . "
Ranaru trailed off, her face blushing slightly. Maybe it was the heat of the Ghenzan afternoon or the wine, but she was feeling a bit lightheaded. It also didn't help that her companion was looking at her as he was and she couldn't turn her head away to avoid his gaze. Instead she kept looking at his with clear and bright eyes, a soft smile spreading over her lips. His company was quiet and his lies were polite.
Rana is no different from usual. You are being nervous, just watch.
Ruskie lifted his head slightly and huffed, his breath moving the grass beneath his snout. He was growing a little bored but at the very least his agitation over this whole event was lessening. If Ranaru was calm, Ranask was calm.
