Odette thought she was completely alone once more. With the night setting in the area surrounding her had quieted down from the days usually chirping. Atleast with the dark she hoped that bird would be nesting and she could try to get home.

She had stepped into the brook once more to ease the pain and discomfort once more before she would leave. The area was unusually dark from tree coverage making the wish really want to go. Feeling she could make it now that she's rested the injury and kept it in cold water, she hobbled out of the brook taking a deep breath. No point beating around the bush the sooner she was at home the safer she could feel. Little slivers of moon light filtered through the canopy above giving enough light for the wish to see by.

In the distance she heard a howl. "Not good.." She hobbled down her path a little faster, still trying to put little pressure on the paw. When it had stopped she was shifting into a run, all four paws beating down on the ground beneath her. Pain shot up from her hurt paw but she didn't want to meet whatever it was that made that noise.

The beast that was Chip sniffed the air and ground. A sent had clung to him and was left on the ground from whines he came, it smelt like honeysuckle but it came from a wish. The beast let out another howl rip from his throat and he was racing off. Back to the poor injured wish.

Thanks to his changed, powerful legs he got to the brook in half the time it took Chip to run away. He sniffed the ground around the area, the honeysuckle sent was much stronger here with another trail of it leading off in another direction. Again he was off and running.

He found his pray in no time and started to stock it. He ran through bushes and behind trees all around the injured wish to scare it, to herd it to a better place to attack so it couldn't get away. All the while staying a shadow.

Panting and out of breath she had begun to slow down. The pain shooting up her leg was almost imbearable. Not wanting to stop she kept hobbling on her way to find safety. Her day was just getting worse she realized but she couldn't tell yet just how bad it was going to be before she would see her home again.

Movements all around her made Odette turn this way then that, trying to get away from the source. Two toned eyes darted around the area, her surroundings giving little for hiding in. The rustling was getting closer and leading her away from the path that led out of the forest.

A large thorn patch sat menacing at a deep patch between the trees. The ground sunk a few feet and the patch rose up high over the hill, grew thick and long spanning a few yards. She hobbled quick as she could for it. Before the beast could swipe her off the ground she dove under the thorn thicket. Crawling even below was difficult but she was trying to be careful as well as fast to reach near the center. Thorns scratched at her body, tearing through fur and flesh making the air pungent of blood even to her nose. They were minor but enough to be detected

The beast was...happy or as close to happy a mindless beast cloud be with what it accomplished. It was herding the wish away from safety and deeper into the wild, to an area where it could attack with ease. But wait? What was the wish doing?

The beast rushed at her but it was to late. She was under the safety of a large and menacing looking thorn bush. The beast growled low in it's throat, a growl that never stopped, saliva started to leak from the corner of it's lips as it paced the bush, looking for away in. Not seeing one it started to dig at the ground with it's razor sharp claws to make room for it's self but then the sent reached it's nose. Blood, fresh blood, the wish was hurt again! It sent him into a blood lust rage. It didn't care about the throns anymore it had to get at her.

It started to push through the bush, some thorns didn't get passed his thick coat but a few did. But half way to her he stopped, it wasn't pain that stopped him it was the bush it's self. It was to thick to just push your way through no matter what you are. It growled and howled in rage and started to wildly slash at the bush around him

She found a spot to stop, looking around. The sound of the creature trying to get through the thorn patch was loud to the smaller wish. She knew if she went north west of her location she might be able to escape it heading into thicker forest. North east took her in the direction she meant to go had she not been chased. There was no going back the direction she came.

She crouched down hearing it get even closer, some how getting through the thorn bush. If only she had more time to think of a way out instead of just bolting and possibly ending up as it's dinner. It howled again sounding more angry and Odette crouched down further against the ground, panting and hoping her brown fur would blend her in enough under the dark night sky.

Another rustle of leaves off set the noise from the creature close to her location. Something large, maybe a deer, had made the mistake of stepping into the open near the patch. It made an odd noise then started to bolt away from the thorn bush

The thorns where to thick, there was no getting through them all in a short amount of time. The beast was frustrated and slashing at any and everything. It growled and snarled trying to frighten the wish out but something did bolt out! He was around it in a flash...after he got dangled from the bush that is. The poor thing didn't get that far away till the beast was upon it then on top of it for a take down. They actually ended but at the brook again, not that it mattered to the raging beast. It's lust was being slain and that's all that mattered. It howled in delight. Gold eyes shone fierce in the night.

Hearing the beast turn to give chase after the dashing creature she slowly stood up as far as the bush allowed and listened. It wasn't running back her way. Not yet that she could tell. She crawled her way out, getting a few deeper scratches where the thorns hung low to the ground. Once out of it she shook off, wincing in pain. She darted across the more open land past trees and shrugs until she found a deep hole in the ground. Her luck with them wasn't that great today but she felt she had no choice. Running on an injured paw and bleeding every where was going to attract more attention. She slipped into the hole finding it yet again empty and went in far so she couldn't easily be reached. There she curled up to lick her wounds.

Morning came and Odette had barely slept a wink. She laid still, curled up in a ball and staring out the way she came in, seeing light but nothing else that far in. She hadn't heard much of a peep from whatever hunted her the rest of the night. Hopefully it was completely gone from the area.

Chip awoke the next morning with the sun slowly. His body was sore all over from the change even his hair...or maybe he was just imagining that part. In any case he was stiff and sore but he managed to get up to his paws in time. The day after the change always left his senses...lessened and he was glad for that for once. It meant he smelt a duller form of the pungent smell of blood and mud that covered the ground, his paws, limbs and most of his face. If this was his first time waking up like this he would have surly lost his lunch but it wasn't...this was a sad fact of his live that he was trying so hard to get away from...and failing.

He moved into the brook to get cleaned off. The water was cold and although a shock to his system it sure felt nice against his muscles. Half way through getting cleaned he wondered what the beast with in him caught and then it hit him hard and fast. What if it was that wish he helped yesterday. Dread and guilt fulled his stomach and he was off like a flash looking for a trail to follow, hoping he could find something that would tell him what it was the beast got for dinner for he couldn't do that here...the poor thing.

He ran fast, his legs protesting their use this early after the change but he wouldn't let them slow him down let. He followed the trail back to the thorn thickets. He padded over to it and breathed in deep. Yep his saliva and blood sent was strong here but so was honeysuckle. Fear griped him and he called out. "Hello! Anyone there! HELLO!"

Feeling safe enough, Odette crawled her way albeit slowly out of the hole. Once outside it she could feel just how sore and in pain she was. One by one she stretched out her legs, wincing when a cut stung. "Great.." she sighed. The injuries she could deal with as she still had her life.

Where Chip was searching he would find the faint scents of blood and honeysuckle going off in the direction she went off to. It was a sign she atleast made it out of the thorn patch. No signs of her body being dragged out and the blood was minimal in comparison to what his beast form would have done to her.

"Damn it!" He said in frustration after nothing replied. Did this mean that she was dead? His brows pulled together he refused to believe this. He stuck his nose to the ground and breathed to with his mouth open to stronger scents from the dirt. He was half way around the bush when he picked up the sent of something like the girls scent mixed with blood. His heart quickened and he was off running again after the scent. He had to know what happened after he felt her.

Unknowing that she was being looked for, the female wish started limping her way home. She had quite a story to tell when she got there. A drop of water hit her back, making her look up to the sky. She was still under the tree coverage but with a few more drops could tell it was starting to sprinkle. She wasn't going anywhere fast and would have to find shelter soon if it got worse.

Chip ran as fast as his tired body would allow, he never pushed him self like this after a night of the beast's roam but this wasn't a normal situation. He would run till he found her alive...or dead. He wondered a bit way he cared so much, sure he wasn't heartless, he cared about living things but to go this far? He knew in the back of his mind that she should be alive seen how her scent was now trailing away from the seen of action. But the need to see how she was is a strong one.

He slowed his pase so he could sniff the ground again, his senses still weak from the change. It was stronger now for sure he was on the right path. He looked up to go but movement caught his eye in the near distance. His eye sight was still good as ever, thank the gods for that. The shape was brown and had something purple around it's neck and was limping slowly. It was her no doubt about it!

He ran for her, faster then his leg should be going now, they'll be killing him in the morning. Tho they had no choice but to go this fast. His heart wouldn't allow any other speed or it might race out of his chest on it's own. He should have said something to her let Hey! or It's you again? and played it off like he was just bumping into her again but he wasn't thinking with his brain, it had been over written by emotion. He slowed a little as he reached her but not by much. Chip as lightly as he could at that speed slammed into her. Her scent of honeysuckle was so strong, it was over whelming. He nuzzled his neck over her's, his chin rubbing into the other side of her neck. The thought that she could be freaked out but this never crossed his mind, he was just so relieved.

She just ambled along, thinking of home and wondering how she got the one lucky streak in a string of bad events yesterday. The rain started coming down a little more steadily and she was starting to look around for cover. Out of no where something slammed her into the ground. She laid motionless for the moment, the wind knocked out of her and worrying it was something far worse then the creature the previous night.

Opening her eyes she felt the nuzzling which confused her greatly. She wasn't being eaten, she could feel the soreness in her body, the same as it was before. Turning her head some she spotted brown fur before her eyes focused. "Um.. owie.." She would have mentioned his name now that she was starting to recognize the wish above her but she had never gotten it. "I've had a really rough day.. if you could.." she commented, hoping he got off of her.

Chip's relieve that he was just feeling was replaced with panic at what she had said. She was find right? So he should just run off into the forest and be gone and done with her so she isn't hurt again. But he knew he'd never be that cowardly.

Chip jumped back to his paws a said the first story that came to mind. "Oh! I'm so sorry, forgive me please. It's just that I happened to pass your scent back there with a bit of blood....Just thought that bird could be after you again...I was just glad that it wasn't." He half smiled and nervously chuckled. He quickly changed the subject quickly. "So what happened to you?" Chip asked concerned hoping she could shed more light on the matter. The rain was coming down but it didn't bother him. The wish was his only concern for now.

Once his weight was gone, Odette slowly pushed off the ground with a wince and stood upright. "It's alright. Please calm down. Deep breathes." She waited for him to calm before starting to explain her story of the creature that was after her and how she was never sure what it was, just that it was big. The rain washed away the bits of dried blood from her fur, matting it down making her look slimmer.
