Kieran's heart drops when Calais stops walking. Oh Gods...this was going to get ugly, he could tell. He steels himself and keeps walking toward her.
"Alright, so you've clearly noticed the little one, so I'm not even going to beat around the bush here." He takes a deep breath. "I'm still not even sure what happened. All I know is that the day after you and I...." His eyes flick to the little boy in Calais' arms and he almost begins to weep for joy. They'd had a child!
"The day after I was wandering around in a daze of absolute and pure joy. And then this stupid orange woman comes up and starts flirting, talking real sweet and all that. And I tried to tell her, Calais, I told her about you and she wasn't having any of it, just kept hitting on me. And then, then there was this....person! With wings and orange skin like the crazy woman who was talking to me, and he had a bow and arrows, and he shot me! You have to believe me, Calais, this is too ridiculous to make up. But here's the awful, awful part--he shot me, and then the next thing I consciously remember was waking up in my bed with that horrible woman." Kieran begins to shake with frustration.
"And she was the most vile creature I have ever encountered. None of the flirtation now, she was looking at me like this was somehow my fault. And so I told her to leave, and believe me I was glad to be rid of her, but a few days later this little guy shows up." He hitches Takis in his arms by way of showing. "And I decided I'd own up to my mistake, even though it wasn't technically my fault--I never would have....no, never! But I decided I'd take care of him. I couldn't let any son of mine live with that woman."
Kieran takes a deep breath, his eyes searching Calais for a reaction.
"Calais, I love you. You have to believe that what I did I did under no power or will of my own!" He bites his bottom lip. "But....I would understand...completely....if you won't have me back after this. I just...if that's the case...I'd just like to know....the name of our son..." He reaches out and touches the boy's cheek. Kieran can't help but smile, his heart glowing despite all the pain and guilt.

Calais looked around for someplace to sit down because, well, standing up didn't seem to be working. She was doing anything to avoid looking at Kieran or... she wasn't so heartless to be cruel to a child or take it out on him, but she couldn't help but feel disdain towards him because of the truth that he exposed.
Calais was only barely tuning in to the words that Kieran spoke with the way her mind was whirling. They sounded like excuses, and her heart and mind were both unsure whether to believe him, she wanted to believe him, but seriously, how could this happen?
She was just going to have to sit on the ground. Calais turned away from Kieran when he touched their son's cheek and sat down on the ground. Hiding her face from him which seemed to be constantly changing emotion with each chain of though that passed through her mind. She needed to say something, didn't she? "I..." she loved him, damn the gods, she did. "Terran..." that was the only word she could mutter, and it was more to calm down the boy in her arms then anything else. He had become unsettled by the emotions his mother was feeling and had began to whine, Calais simply rocked him back and forth.

Kieran, not wishing to loom over her, sits down a small distance away. He sets Takis down next to him and leans on his elbows. "Terran is a beautiful name," he says. Did this mean....that she was sending him away? He refused to believe that. He saw no anger in her eyes...only hurt, which he understood. "I....I wish you could believe me. I know it sounds like I'm just making excuses, but on my word this hurts me almost as much as it surely does you. Please stay with me."
Takis looks between Papa and the lady-adult. They seem sad. So does the other boy with the lady-adult. He watches as the boy fusses in her arms, and wanders away from Papa to tap the boy's shoulder. He gives him a hug. That's what Papa always did when he's fussy.

Calais was silent, she was listening to him. And her mind was thinking of responses, some filled with far more anger then she would ever express. She bit her lower lip, trying to fight back any crying she felt like doing right now. No words were actually coming from her mouth, even though she tried to open it several times. She didn't even notice the other boy walking towards her until he was hugging Terran. Calais sniffled then wiped a tear off her cheek. That was his brother. Kieran, though Calais still didn't look towards him, was his father, she couldn't deny that to Terran.
Terran tried to pull away from Calais to look at the other boy. Calais slowly loosened her grip on him and he moved out of her lap. He tilted his head at the other boy and smiled, his little puff of a tail wagging.
Calais' heart softened again as she finally looked at Kieran, with the two boys strategically in between them. They looked like a family... Calais now only had to swallow her pride and say what she wanted to say instead of pointlessly arguing over what had already happened and couldn't be changed, no matter how much she might wish it. "I want you..." she whispered.

Kieran's face immediately brightens in a relieved smile. "Oh Calais, I love you so much!" He leans forward to hug her.
Takis giggles and claps his hands. He likes when people are happy. He gets up and hugs the lady-person too, just like Papa.

Calais' heart fluttered even though it was still hurting. She wasn't still completely over this, but she knew she loved him. She'd get over it eventually, right? Calais moved into Kieran's hug, burying her face in his chest. Now she felt like she was the child who needed comforting, not that she had a child. "So... his mother...?" Calais looked at the boy hugging her, she hadn't even learned his name yet. Was she supposed to adopt him or something? It wasn't such a hard concept, she was adopted, it just seemed hard because of the circumstance.
Terran frowned, he wanted to be part of all the huggy action too. He clumsily walked over to the three hugging fauns and squeezed his way into the middle.

"Is you," finishes Kieran firmly. He reaches over and lifts both boys into her lap. "I named him Takis." He sits down next to her and wraps his arm around her waist.
Takis leans back against the new lady-person. She's warm and soft, like Papa. He supposes she can be another Papa, if she stays with them. He looks over at Papa, and smiles when he sees the smile on his face. Yes, this is good.

Calais looked up at Kieran and nodded her head, "Takis..." she smiled. "Terran, this is your brother, Takis. You guys are brother, that means you take care of each other. And this is your daddy, he is just like a mommy." She introduced them pointing them each out to him. "And Takis..." Calais looked up at Kieran again. "I'm going to be your mommy." Calais bit her lip nervously, unsure of how this would all work out. Calais rubbed both of the boys' backs and then picked up Terran and put him in Kieran's lap.
Terran furrowed his brow as he tried to comprehend everything his momma was telling him, he looked at the other boy. He wasn't going to steal his mommy away from him, was he? He didn't like the sound of that, he clinged tightly to his mom but she was now putting him someplace else. He looked at that Takis kid again enviously, but then looked up at the Kieran man, rocking his head back and forth evaluating him.

Kieran smiles. "We'll teach them all sorts of things," he says. "Like how to build sandcastles." He wraps his other arm around Terran protectively.
Mother. Was that like a Papa? And brother. That was the other boy. Terran? It was a nice word. Brother. Terran. Takis sucks on his bottom lip and looks backwards upwards at his Mother.

Calais nodded her head. "Hey I found another faun..." she told Kieran as she bounced Takis on her lap. She looked down at the boy and smiled. Wow, the mother of two boys. Who would have thought. Man this had the potential of getting scary, especially since she was still a fairly young adult. "Think we're in over our heads?" she asked Kieran.
Terran bounced out of Kieran's lap and walked around him, still inspecting the newcomer. He poked at the spots on Kieran's fur, they were just like his spots. Terran made his way back around to Kieran and pointed out his own spots to him so that he could see.

Kieran looks over his shoulder at the little boy. He smiles at the feel of little fingers touching his spots. "Yes, I've got spots, just like you." He reaches forward to collect Terran back into his lap.
"Nah, how much trouble could they be? Look how calm they are now, and aren't toddlers supposed to be the hardest time?"
Takis curls up in Mother's lap, yawning.

"Yeah, I guess so." Calais agreed. Just two boys together seemed rather complicated. "Hmm, imagine all the cooties I must be infected with now." She whispered, noticing Takis looking like he was getting ready to fall asleep, looked like her legs were going to be what feel asleep next. "Cute..." she smiled. "We make some cute kids..." Calais mentioned, completely forgetting that she didn't help make Takis.
Terran looked back over at Takis and glared at the other boy getting all cuddly with his mommy. He hugged Kieran's furry chest, he would just have to get cuddly with the Takis' daddy.

Kieran smiles and nods. "I think you're immune to cooties at this point," he says softly. He looks down at Terran curling up against his chest and bites his bottom lip.
"Ohmygosh," he whispers. He curls one hand over Terran's little furry body. "I think I might cry." He looks over at Calais, eyes watering.
Takis yawns and shifts himself so he's sort of draped over her legs. He closes his eyes. Being taken care of is nice.

Calais giggled and quickly covered her mouth so that she wouldn't disturb Takis. She looked over at their son with Kieran and then Kieran with his watering eyes. "Of course I choose the sensitive one..." she said warmly with a soft smile. She leaned her head on Kieran's shoulder, stroking Takis in a soothing fashion.
Terran plopped down on Kieran's lap, following cue from his brother, but still curling closed to the breathing chest of Kieran.

"Hey, it doesn't make me any less of a man," he says softly, jokingly defensive. "Gods, they're so tiny...had to believe one day they'll be big and strong." He kisses the top of Calais' head.
