User ImageLast Whisper had been taking a nap, and when she awoke, she could not find her adopted son anywhere. She looked around feverishly, calling out for him, and got no response. So she stalked about silently, figuring perhaps he was trying to get her to play hide-and-seek with him, why else would the little rascal not respond to her? Unless he was in trouble! And so, worried for his safe being, she stalked off in search of him.

It didn't take long to find him... and what seemed to be a new companion - a younger foal strikingly pink and still rather awkward. They were splashing about in a stream, and then rummaging through a meadow of flowers, and so with no specific need to interrupt, Sigh lay down among some bushes, hidden from sight and watched over them as they played.

Until she caught sight of the movement that Stardust did not. Without a second thought, she leaps out, unannounced and runs straight down the bank and lifts her forelegs up in the air when reaching the water's edge only to bring those hooves down with incredible force on top of the crocodile's skull. Standing on the dazed if not concussed reptile, her eyes dart up to her son's and then to Daisy Chain's as she yells just one word, "RUN!"

Instead of following her own advice, though, the doe bravely stomps down on the croc's head one more time, this time missing and landing next to it's snapping maw. It manages to snap at one of her legs, leaving vicious bleeding marks, but this doesn't stop the doe. She nimbly jumps over the stream, leading it out onto land where she knew it was not as comfortable.

Once there, she turned on it, curling her lip and growling at it, warning it not to come any closer, and that she was ready to fight it. One of her ears flicked over to figure out where the boys had gone, wanting to make sure they were out of harm's way while she dealt with this nasty predator.

"Because, that way when I take it home to my mommy we can plant it there and it will still grow!" he said, eyes still focused on the flower. Blissfully unaware, he hummed to himself until a loud noise startled him. He yelped, seeing a full-grown doe leap from the bushes. She yelled for them to run, and run he did. Grabbing the flower in his mouth, dirt mixing with saliva, the little foal scrambled over his wobbly legs to get out of there. He didn't even know what they were running from, but he scrambled over root and puddle to flee. Out of breath, he turned back to see where he was. He couldn't see the doe or Stardust in sight. With the unpleasant taste of mud in his mouth, the little foal was now alone and frightened. And he proceeded to whimper before breaking out in tears.

Hearing the noise of his mother running, Stardust looks up just in time to see her stomp on something large. Even before her yell he's moving, though not away as curiosity pulls him forward a step before her shout pierces his brain. Nearly tripping over himself while trying to turn and climb the small bank, Stardust sets off in the direction he'd last seen Daisy Chain.

Lucky for him, both of them, the other youngling is making enough noise for anyone to follow. Still, Daisy Chain has a good lead on him and Stardust looses his friend's exact position. He continues on, though, deciding the pink foal would keep to a straight line. Jumping a log he nearly lands on top of Daisy Chain, quick reactions and a nearly backwards summer salt the only thing keeping the colt from planting his hooves on his friend's back.

Pulling himself up, Stardust takes the few steps to Daisy Chain. "You alright?" he asks, nuzzling the younger Kimeti, much like an older sibling would. He does his best to sound calm, even though his insides are churning. His mother was still back there, and even though he had no idea what she'd attacked, Stardust figured it was something big and dangerous.

The crocodile was dazed, bruised definitely, but it was not yet ready to give up this potential kill. Afterall, it was angry at this doe for dispelling the little thing that had been foolishly splashing about in the water, and it was hungry. With determination it snapped its jaws at the doe once more before it slowly dragged itself out onto the land, belly leaving marks in the mud before it crushed blades of grass. Last Whisper faced it head-on, growling and snarling, viciously. She was not about to stand down.

The croc held it's mouth open, ready to snap it shut at a moment's notice. And as the nimble doe leapt in and out of range, the croc too entered this dance, biting at air and managing to catch a clump of fur on one strike. It caused Sigh to yelp in pain, but that was what gave her an extra boost of adrenaline to get rid of this stupid predator. With that bout of courage, she reared up, dropped real quick and as the croc made a dive for her forelimbs, she quickly raised them one more time so that she could leap onto it's head. This time, the bottom of it's head met a rock as she stomped her hooves down on top, and it knocked the crocodile out cold. Stepping off of it neatly, she gave it one last kick for good measure to the side of the head, just below the eye, knowing this was where their temple was.

Not wasting any time, she canters in the direction she last saw or heard Stardust, and quickly finds the two young boys together. Scowling at them, she only tells them this, "Playtime is over. Let's go before that wretched thing wakes up." She knows that the look - not to mention the scare of the crocodile - will be enough to teach these two a lesson.

She nudges the pink foal, urging him to get up and get moving, "Lead the way. We'll take you home, and make sure that crocodile doesn't follow your tiny little frame. C'mon Stardust." Her adopted son, too gets a nudge on the shoulder and another small scowl, as she adds one last note, "He would have made you his mid-day snack." And that was all that she had to say. The rest of the trip she was silent, and as they walked, her ears remained perked and listening, but nothing pursued them. As they continued, her scowl ebbed away and was replaced with a calm expression. She was just happy that no one had gotten hurt. And that scratch across her back leg that begged her to limp was to be dealt with once they got home, and for the time being she ignored the pain and trotted on without letting it hinder her. She had more important things to deal with before she would attend to that.

Daisy Chain whimpered, looking around at every sound. Hearing a rustle in the bushes, he flinched and scooted back, every inch of him shaking. But with the sight of Stardust, he bounded towards the older colt and hid his head in his chest. "I want my mommyyy" he cried, muffled voice hidden in Stardust's fur and the dirty flower he still held. It wasn't long before Last Whisper arrived, and Daisy Chain felt a little safer. Though he wasn't sure which to be more afraid of, the croc-a-die, or this scary doe...

He assumed it was Stardust's mommy, the way she treated the two, so he could trust her, right? Cheek against Stardust's shoulder scale, the little foal followed them closely, not wanting to move ahead. He did however, point in certain familiar directions until they reached a very worried Blossom. His own mother said not a scolding word, but was merely relieved that her son was home and alive. Taking the dirty, half-wilted flower, she dug a small hole and placed it inside, hoping that it would take root and perk up. She also thanked Last Whisper and Stardust for taking Bud home, and made her son promise not to wander off like that until he was much..much older. Perhaps the two young boys could play again someday. Under the watchful eyes of their mothers, next time.
