Kai just laughed some more at his poor bandmate, shaking his head. "You'll always be a rock star in my mind Ruki, never fear. Though your body banging to songs will always make me laugh." Oh yes. How could anyone forget it when Ruki lost himself in a song and rocked his whole body along? Kai always had the best vantage point behind his drums, and it always made him smile at the very least. "We are not amazons! You're just amazingly short and cute!"
He thought for a moment, trying to remember who did he see first? "Well... I think Uru-kun got here first. He seems rather okay with furry thighs now. Not really too fazed. And then I saw Aoi..." Kai paused at that happy thought, a bit of a silly grin appearing on his maw. "O-oh! Ya and then Reita. He wasn't too pleased... Especially when he saw we all look more like the girl lions than the male ones..."
The drummer nodded at Ruki's statement, as he led the way towards the water. "Exactly. Now that we're all here, we can take a proper vote on where we'd like to be. I know there's actual grassland around, you can see it if you're up high enough. And then there's the mountains, but I'd rather not go there. Too cold."

"Oh, well, for one my reputation remains intact." He smiled faintly, perking, though the joke about his dancing made him blush. Yeah, there were times he got a liiiiittle too carried away during his songs... And every once in awhile -which was probably still too often- he did something silly or goofy -not unheard of- and embarrassed himself. Which still worked out just fine, the crowds at lives always had a good time, which meant he did too. Damn, he was going to miss lives. "Thanks for the 'amazingly short' part..." He teased. "But yeah, you are... All of you, freakishly tall." Another playful pout, and a silent note of the expression on Kai's face when Aoi was mentioned. That was just cute. Reita? Hmm, displeased manly bassist mad about being a girly cat, not a cat. He laughed softly. "That sounds just like Akira... Not upset about being a cat, but a girly-cat? Oh hell no." He fondly rolled his eyes then shrugged. "A vote... Hmm, that might mean we'd need to look around a bit and see what we like. Right? Though, as long as it's not a desert and we have a shelter... I don't have much of a leaning of one or another..." If they were all together and safe, he could be laid back about the rest...

"Yes, a very important one I think," Kai grinned. He was going to miss those days too. But maybe they were shoved into this new place for a reason. Or not.
Kai didn't really hear the tease, a little lost in his thoughts about another certain bandmate, though his quickly brushed those aside with a slight blush. "But, ya. Reita. Not happy about being a girly looking lion at all. So you'll have to console him. I don't think I did much good. He needs you for that." After all, Kai could only do so much as a friend and leader of the band.
"Yeah, that's right. It's not all desert land, so we'll be fine," he replied with a shrug. Kai honestly didn't care where they were so long as he had his friends with him. If they were together, he knew they'd all be just fine.

"Yes, a very important one." Ruki laughed, nudging Kai playfully. Ahh, water up ahead, time for the fun to begin, he supposed... At least he had Kai, for now. Though Kai had a way of rounding up all his chicks quite quickly when he felt the need. Ruki had little doubt that soon enough the rest of the group would come thundering into the picture, with as much noise as ever. They'd never needed the instruments to make a ruckus, after all! "Poor Kai." He smiled. "There are things you can only learn how to handle with time, and Akira's one of those..." A soft laugh escaped him at the thought. Uruha had known the bassist a little longer then Ruki himself, even.. But they'd been together a long time. Of the group, Kai had known him the shortest amount of time. And though Ruki and Reita were close, there were times when even he couldn't do a damn thing right. There were times when Akira just needed to be mad, get it out of his system, get over it, and move on. There were times when Ruki's understanding helped, and times when only Uruha's teasing, jabbing and general demeanor were the only cure. It was all a matter of degrees. Though from the sound of things, Kai's sweet demeanor, Uruha's teasing, and even Aoi's dark confidence hadn't helped. So what did that mean? Ruki had his work cut out for him, if nothing else... "I've seen a male or two hulking around." He murmured. "I'm glad Akira doesn't look like that... I'd rather not be scared of any of my band mates, thanks..." He eyed his gloves, then the water. While he could probably wriggle out of, and back into, his clothing, it was going to be irritating.. Particularly the gloves. But then, he needed his claws for the fish... "This is going to be an adventure.." He muttered as he stopped at the bank with a faint frown. "Hope you can catch, Kai."

"Hmph. No, I think he just needs his other friend. Which isn't me, but a certain fun short vocalist," Kai returned easily, plopping himself down by the water to watch Ruki.
Kai had tried everything to get Reita to see reason, but it was to no avail, only much growling and glaring and threats. None of which Kai particularly enjoyed, coming from Reita. Or any of them really.
"Me? Catch? Well, I suppose we'll find out soon enough!" the drummer said cheerfully, grinning as he watched Ruki think. This certainly was going to be an adventure. First adventure of being a lion for Ruki, just like Kai attempting to find stuff to drum on when he first arrived.

Ruki was in the process of wriggling out of his jacket, so it was just easier to make a general grunting noise of assent. After all, he couldn't really shrug, and he definitely couldn't talk with the red fabric over his head. But soon enough it was off and he carefully nudged it aside, using his mouth to peel off his gloves and set them aside. Free of that, he considered his sleeveless shirt, then the pants. Well... They could stay, he supposed. Less effort in the long run. "You're fun." He murmured as he slowly moved into the water, tail twisting in a very feline way that was completely unknown to the vocalist. "Uruha and Aoi are fun too... Granted, I'm the only one that can say certain things or kick him in the a** when he needs it without fear of repercussions -most of the time-... Is that what you guys need me to do?" Once in relatively far, he paused, the water lapping at his legs and occasionally splashing his belly and chest. Fish were stupid, that much he knew... And as a kid he'd even learned that if you stand still, dead in the center of a river or lake, the moronic things would swim right to you. Heeeere fishy, fishy... "I'm going to throw them at you, either you let them hit you in the face, or you catch them.. And if they hit you, I will laugh." He threatened the last part with a playful look over his shoulder. "Consider this your warning."

"I'm not fun. He doesn't like me. I'm an nuisance to him. Even my cooking is abhored by him," Kai whined, pouting as he curiously watched Ruki strip off his jacket and gloves. He was pleased he didn't have to deal with such things. With his sleeves rolled, he had nothing to worry about. And the gloves... well, those weren't all that useful. But it looked good.
"I think so. Because me offering cuddles was not helping at all," the drummer sighed, trying not to laugh at the way Ruki's tail moved. Oh but if only Ruki knew! What a fit he'd be having!
"What!? You expect me to be able to catch a flopping fish? Are you mad!?" Kai had no idea if he'd be able to catch one of those silly things. He didn't mind fish when they were dead and cooked, but alive and wriggling? Ew. Just ew.

"You are fun, Kai." Ruki argued. "Miyavi pounces you in hallways, you make us French Toast, you're cute and silly and forget things but we love you and you're enjoyable so we don't care..." Oh.. Damn.. Not close enough yet... Another unconscious twist of tail. Waiiit for it Takanori.. Just wait for it. "And Reita does like you, you're not a nuisance, not really... And he doesn't abhor anything, especially not food..." An amused snort. "What a mess all of you are without me... You offered to cuddle him?" He tsked. "Offending his masculinity like that, Kai! Shame on you... I know you know better..." The question made him roll his eyes. "Yes, I expect you to catch a flopping fish.. Well, rather, I expect you to catch the fish before it flops... And no, last time I checked, I wasn't mad.. A little unstable and somewhat crazy, but not mad..." Yet. Being a cat might do that to him... "Do you want to dig a hole in the sand and let them just die and then poke at it? I don't care, but once I fling the fish, it is your job to make sure it doesn't get back in the water..."

Kai just pouted, his ears drooping as Ruki tsked him. What!? He offered to cuddle anyone. Manly or otherwise. "Miyavi isn't exactly a good example, ya know," he snorted, still pouting cutely on the dry land. Miyavi... was an odd duck. A very colorful odd duck. But one that Kai got along with grandly. He couldn't really say the same for the others though.
"I don't think I'm going to touch anything that's alive and flopping. Especially if we plan on eating it. I haven't washed my paws properly!" Kai whined. He didn't like raw fish. Especially the live ones. Him? Hate fish? Yes. Sushi too. Dreadful food. Pretty, but awful to eat.
The drummer gave Ruki a seething glare, though it was disturbed by his bottom lip still pouting. "I'd rather not touch the thing at all, to be quite honest..."

"We all know how Rei is about touching.. Much less something as fluffy as 'cuddling' Kai-kun.. Perhaps if you'd used another word?" He shrugged. "I don't know.. But whatever it is, I'll fix it somehow.." He laughed. "Miyavi's as good an example as any.. He's good, and crazy, and out there, just like the rest of us.. He's just a little louder about it." Or a lot louder, whatever. Ruki found him amusing just the same. And he was a good person. Err, soul? No telling if he'd be the next one to play Lion King or not. "Just dig a damn hole in the bank..." He muttered. "That will keep them contained until the others show up.. I know for damn sure Uruha has no trouble with sushi.. Not Aoi either..." He crouched slightly. "And make it quick, so you don't have to touch the icky fish, Oh Princess of the Drums."

"I know... B-but it's me! You'd think he would make an exception!" he whined, pouting yet again. Kai was good at that, pouting. He'd perfected it awhile back and used that puppy pout when he could. "Will you Ruki?" he asked, ears perking a bit at it. "Really?"
The drummer grumbled at Ruki's pushiness, starting to dig. His gloves could be washed later after all. "I AM NOT A PRINCESS!" Kai growled at his bandmate, though he did hurry up and dig faster. So what if he had a thing against sushi? Was it really enough to call him a princess?!

A spark of irritation, so faint it was like a simple hum of electricity, skittered down his back at the drummer's words. B-but it's me! You'd think he would make an exception! He pushed the anger away immediately, for a variety of reasons: It was Kai -his friend-, no one could stay mad at him for long, so why bother trying? They were in strange forms in a strange place. He didn't want to even attempt to be irked with the only company he had currently... And Kai did have a point -which is what made Ruki want to be upset in the first place- that it was Kai. And they all gave into Kai at one point or another. How was the drummer to know that Ruki cared for Reita more then anyone else? How was Kai to know that the idea of him cuddling said bassist because Ruki wasn't around was... was... hurtful. How was Kai to know? He wasn't... Because they were keeping it quiet... A secret. An interesting turn of events for someone who could rarely keep secrets.. But then, there were a handful that Ruki had been carrying around for longer then he cared to remember, and he hadn't spilled those yet. Part of which had gotten him into this mess. He pushed the thoughts away. He didn't want to be mad, or upset, or hurt. "Yeah..." He murmured softly, eyes still fixed on the water and the fish swimming through it. "Yeah Kai, I promise, I'll fix it." And then there was no more time to dwell on the thoughts of his still M.I.A. bandmates, as there was a fish close enough, and with the swipe of a paw, he sent it flailing through the air and flopping to the bank. The rest of the school bolted away, clearly surprised at the attack on their fellow. That was fine... Like he had said. Fish were stupid, they'd come back... Attempting to tease, he glanced over his shoulder. "You corral that one yet, Princess?"

Kai didn't realize his whine had bothered Ruki so much, not at first anyway. He had been clueless, always had been. Clueless for a certain guitarist's fancy for him, until of course words were bluntly said. And the actions that came to follow afterwards.
But eventually the drummer did notice Ruki tense slightly, and that worried Kai. Had he said something wrong? His ears drooped once more, and he stared at his hole he'd dug, perhaps a bit too shallow. Oh well, not like he expected his friend to catch too many fish. Before Kai could say anything though, Ruki spoke, sounding fine.
"O-okay," he stuttered, still phased. And unfortunately he had a hard time disguising his emotions, so he couldn't hide his shaky tone. His mood changed though, as soon as one of those disgusting things flopped ashore, not too far from where he was, causing the drummer to squeak - he'd deny and call it a gasp if anyone challenged. But Kai put on a determined face at Ruki's teasing, snorting. "Don't call me Princess," he grumbled as he kept telling himself he had gloves on and wouldn't have to touch the thing. Somehow he was able to reach out and guide the flopping, frantic fish into the ditch he'd created before scooting back, his nose wrinkled in disgust for the creature.

Ruki sighed faintly, once again feeling guilty that he had hurt Kai... And certainly unhappy Kai had noticed the tension. The vocalist wasn't mad, not really. Could anyone be honestly, truly, really mad at Kai? He hadn't met a single soul yet. And the emotion had been little more then a fleeting jolt of electricity. It was not so much 'anger' or 'rage', after all... More that the idea pained him, and he had not been able to stifle the reaction to that pain. And of course to sooth Kai's feeling, he would have to explain. And to explain he would have had to tell a secret... A secret that was not solely his. And until he talked to Reita... Not that it mattered... But the next time he saw Reita he was very likely to throw caution -and the damned 'secret'- to the wind. But those were thoughts for another time. "I'm not mad at you, Kai." He murmured, darting forward to slap another fish toward the bank. "Please know that." He could hear in the drummer's voice that he was hurt and a little lost... And Ruki didn't want Kai hurt. He really hadn't wanted to give voice to the petty emotion he had felt.. And of course Kai had picked up on it.. He had a habit of zoning in on what was best left forgotten, and missing what they wanted him to see. And the squeak about the fish was cute, but Ru pretended to ignore that. Maybe they should try to let some water in the whole to keep the damned things alive until the others appeared? He frowned as he turned, standing in the center of the water still, but facing Kai. He considered the drummer for a few moments, then inhaled, letting the breath out in a deep sigh. "Sorry.. No more Princess and... I.. I just miss everyone." He murmured, rather lamely. "Forgive me?"

Despite Ruki's attempts to ease Kai's worry, it was to no avail. Den mother he was, and with it came the worry. Instead of voicing anything else, Kai just nodded to the vocalist, hardly even phased as another fish came his way that he nudged to join the first. His mind was caught up in trying to figure out what he could have possibly said to have upset Ruki, even if it was only for the briefest of moments.
He looked up to gaze at his friend, a little sad pout on his face he hadn't even realized had appeared. Kai nodded to the apology, accepting it even though he had a feeling that wasn't the cause. "Yeah, of course I do," he replied, hiding whatever other emotions he felt behind a smile, smacking the fish that tried to jump back out of it's prison.
