"Hm? You're entitled to your own opinions and your own feelings, you know. What others think and feel about you shouldn't matter so long as you stay happy with yourself. that's all I was trying to say to you, but I guess I'm so rusty with talking to others I can't convey messages right. It's sad that I have to have Rinel help me out of her own accord."
L'pin smiled sheepishly at the Green flit from before, the little creature still bugling as she flew around L'pin's head before finally settling on his shoulder. She turned and gave a little trumpet into the air, as if she were calling for something or someone. Shortly after the last note ended in the air another Green winked from Between, this one being the more familiar Hinalle. She gave her usual hiss as she hovered in the air, not daring to come closer to the group. Shamth gave her a disapproving rumble, though that may have been directed at the whole group in general.
Busybody winged rat. Things were fine if they left, no need to call them back.
Shamth had been pleased to see them all walk off, but now that they were returning his eyes stayed red and his mood still unhappy. L'pin looked glad to see them return though, so. . .

Cass moved forward again, coming within a more comfortable talking distance, giving the taller man a small smile as she did so. "Thank you," she said warmly "for being concerned. I should have known better than to think you'd be like that." she said a little sheepishly. Granted, she had only met him once previously, so he could have been faking his kindness the first time, though she didn't like to think that of people without good reason. She was glad to find that she wouldn't have reason to this time either.
Seeing another little green pop in from between, Cass smiled "Hello Hinalle." she said, recalling the little flit's name from their previous brief encounter "You have two firelizards, L'pin? I didn't realize."
'That little one does not like to be touched.' Vespereth said, stating the obvious to her rider. She sat back on her haunches, more at ease now that the tension had all but disippated and her rider was no longer so upset. She continued to ignore Shamth though. The little firelizards quite entertained her curiosity though and she watched them with bright blue whirling eyes, turning her head this way and then that to get a better look at them.

"I thought I told you before - I'm Holdborne. The views of the Weyr and the views of my hold are different, and even though I've lived more of my life here there are certain things I will not allow myself to take in and accept as my own points. Female riders are one such thing, even if it means I get shunned for thinking they can fly just as well and belong in the wings."
L'pin rubbed along Rinel's back with his hand, the Green turning her chirps and bugles into font cheeps of pleasure. Her eyes whirled a shade of green and her lids closed in pleasure, clearly happy with being touched. Hinalle was content in her own right to just stay away, though every now and then she'd float close enough to Vespereth to let out a hiss before backing towards L'pin and resuming her calm.
"And yes, I have two of them, didn't I mention that before? Well if not, you already know Hinalle, and this one here is Rinel. I found her out on the sands one day while Shamth and I were skipping chores. She hadn't been up and around much lately, I guess she must have clutched somewhere and decided it was time to return to my side."
What number does this make?
Three, I think. I lost count when I couldn't find any of them.
"Vespereth, would you like to touch one of them? Rinel loves dragons so I'm sure she wouldn't mind letting you nose at her. The same invitation extends to you Cass."

Cass smiled at the man, gratitude in her eyes. It was nice to have an older male rider that wasn't breathing down her neck for one reason or another due to their prejudice. She tended to just ignore them. All she could do was work hard and hope that eventually they would come to see that she was just as good as them.
"She's lovely." Cass said, moving closer to him to get a better look at the more friendly little green firelizard. She turned to look at Her's and motioned for her to come closer.
'Would you like to touch her, Vespereth?' she asked mentally through their private link.
'Oooh yes! she is so tiny, tinier than me! Like a little me...' she mused cheerfully, stepping up to L'pin and looking up at him with eager curiosity in her bright blue eyes 'Tell Shamth's I would like to meet the nice little one.'
Cass giggled quietly and looked back to L'pin, smiling "We would both like to see her."

"Alright there, here you go."
L'pin moved so that he could easily get Rinel off his shoulder and holder her out, his hands beneath her forearms the same way you would hold a small child. The Green flitt didn't mind being held like that, her legs curling up so they didn't drape, and she chirped loudly before moving the chirps into a bugle to express her delight at something new happening. She had missed being with her person L'pin and that mean Hinalle! Now that she was back she could do all kinds of fun things, like meeting these new persons!
"You can hold her if you want, or you can set her on Vesperth. Rinel's really good with dragons for some reason, though Shamth is an exception for obvious reasons. I think I'm the only thing good with him, but that works well enough for me. Hinalle may actually come over and join in once she sees Rinel doing things as she doesn't like to be left out. Let's see what happens."
There was a wink in his eye as L'pin let Rinel's bottom foot lightly bumped against the Green dragonet's snout.
This is a waste of time.

Cass smiled, laughing slightly at the scene before her with Rinel being held out like a baby, little feet curled up under her. She'd never seen someone hold a firelizard like that before, she had a feeling that most wouldn't enjoy it. This little green certainly didn't seem to though. 'Do you want me to hold her, or would you like to?' Cass asked her life mate as she gently took the little firelizard from her bonded and looked down at her dragon.
'Ooh! Let the nice little one sit on me!' Vespereth said, standing so that Cass could place the flit on her back. When the girl did so, the little green dragon craned her neck around so she could look at the little firelizard 'Hello tiny one!' Vespereth chirped to her fellow, though much smaller, green.
Cass hid a smile behind one petite hand as she watched her dragon sniff at the flit and greet her. It was a ridiculously adorable scene. She turned to look at L'pin, dark eyes shining with mirth "Thank you, L'pin. Vespereth quite likes her."

Rinel chirped excitedly as she was taken from L'pin and placed onto Vesperth, the little Green flitt eagerly projecting feelings of happiness and excitement at getting to try something new. She hadn't been able to ride on that Green from very long ago even if she did like her very much and had been allowed. Now that she was free to do as she wanted she actually let her weight rest on the Green dragon, chirping happily.
"You're really welcome. I'm almost tempted to give her to you since you're so fond of her, but I'm fairly certain as soon as I leave she'd come popping back up inside my weyr demanding to know why I left her behind. Picky thing."
L'pin chuckled a bit at his flitt's antics, glad to see her happy and active after being heavy with clutch. She was so mild during that time that it was hard not to love her even more, but the rider was pretty sure he loved the little spunk that she had.
"But I tell you what - if I find one of her eggs somehow, I'll hand that over. How's that sound?"

"Flits do tend to be rather choosy like that." Cass said, laughing a bit as she watched the two greens. She was touched, though, that the idea had even occurred to the man. Not many would offer someone a firelizard, even in jest. Her smiled widened, though, when L'pin spoke of eggs "We would certainly be more than happy to give a little egg a home." she assured him.
'Yes! Especially if it is as nice as this little one. I like her.' Vespereth crooned, sparing a happy blue glance for her rider before turning back to her new little friend.
Cass smiled warmly at hers and reached out with one petite hand and gently scratched Rinel's eye ridge, just the way that Vespereth always liked her to do, figuring that firelizards must like it as well. The two species were practically cousins after all.
"So what were you on your way to do, L'pin?" she asked, looking up at him from where she knelt "I'm not keeping you from something am I?"

"Considering I'm a wingless rider who happened to luck out on no chores today, you're keeping me from nothing. Shamth could be washed, that's about it, but otherwise I didn't really have plans. Most of the time I never even attempt to make them because the Weyrwoman hunts me down and makes me run errands for her. It's a little troublesome but at least it keeps us busy and entertained."
Speak for yourself, Mine. But we really should be moving along. How much longer must we stay here?
Oh dear, the Mine game. Shamth had been doing well up to this point, but once the affectionate words started coming out heavier it was time for them to go before aggression quickly followed. It was a good thing of sorts that L'pin's massive blue tended to stick to a pattern of behavior, seeing as it always helped prevent incidents.
"Ah, but I do think we should be going. We're keeping you off your bath on your dragonet and I'm fairly certain she's in need of a more thorough scrubbing. I remember rubbing Shamth down until my hands were raw."

"You're probably right." Cass said with a sigh, casting a critical eye back over Vespereth. Now that she had dried off some, she could see that she had missed a few places. The green was clean, but Cass liked her to be spotless, she was so pretty then, when her hide was oiled, like an emerald.
The little blond reached down and gently picked up Rinel and handed her back to L'pin "It was nice seeing you again, L'pin. I look forward to seeing you again." she said with a bright smile "and not just because you promised me a firelizard egg either." she gave him a wink and a wave of farewell and then went about the business of ushering her little green back into the waters for a second washing.

"It was good seeing you again as well. Please take care of yourself and if you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask me. I'd tell you to ask Yulu - er, Y'ul for help, but seeing as - well, never mind. Take care."
L'pin wasn't an idiot in the affairs of relationships between people, seeing as he had seen Y'ul smack this other girl in the face without any hesitation. He didn't know his cousin that well but he did understand her enough to know what she would do should she be forced into a situation she didn't want to deal with.
When Rinel was given back to him the rider moved swiftly over to his massive blue and managed to mount rather effortlessly, the pair taking into the air and Shamth's wings making sure to whip on some dirt on the pair still in the springs. It was almost like his little act of revenge for whatever was going on and he chuckled as they went away, L'pin sighing and smiling. This relationship would be interesting.
