But dude! It's Terry Pratchett! D= You can not go trhough life without experiencing the silly amusement that is Terry Pratchett!
Those two are quite good :] Neverwhere is more serious but they bouth give a good insight too the amazing characters and worlds he's got going on in his head. I'm pretty sure Neverwhere was the first novel I read by him (I'm also pretty sure it started as a television series he later adapted in a book, but I've never had the change of seeing the series)
But starting with the short storeies could be good.
I've been meaning to start reading Lovecraft again, started to once but I got too busy and had to return the book to the library before I could properly get into it and for some reason I havent tried again, which is a shame since what I had read by that point was rather interesting.

One should always honour the ancient ones on a car. And I've always wanted too play that. For it looks fun.
Deja vu. Totaly what my bodacious red-headed friend told me last night. Although that ended with her trying to convince me too start reading Holmes as well.

Wyvern683 Isn't the new Alice and Wonderland Directed by Tim Burton? I'm a big fan of his movies. I still haven't seen 9 yet, though. The new Alice In Wonderland is indeed directed by Tim Burton. But guess what? 9 isn't. It's directed by Shane Acker Who also if I'm not mistaken wrote the origional story, (although some lady wrote the script for the full lenght movie) I'm pretty sure the movie started as a short film, Ackers students project. Which Burton was rather impressed with and offered to produce it so Acker could make it into a full length movie. (I think I'm remembering this correctly, but I'm not sure, I heard this story in a interwiew I watched) at like 3 in the morning
Tim Burton also did not write it, and did not in any way design the look of the film. He. Just. Produced. It. And hell, he only partly produced it, with like...4 other people so they should get some credit too yo.
So sorry if I sounded bitchy. I just corrected people about that alot when the movie first came out and got into a lot of arguments about it, with people that got all offended that I could possibly be insulting "The Almighty Tim Burton" which resulted in alot of people arguing with me about my appearant Burton-Hate, which was silly since dude. been an dedicated Burton fan since like .... I was 6 or 7? I grew up with Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attack! and TNBC. (granted Burton didnt actualy direct tNBC I think, but he wrote it) And most of the people arguing with me didnt know who he was till either Corpse Bride or Sweeney Todd. so yah... I'm all bitter. I get easily annoyed over stupid things I admit that.
I mean. The movie honestly has no Tim Burton feel about it. Honestly. It does not. I dont see why people keep thinking that. Yes it has cutish characters in a dark environment but really, the movie is still vastly different from his work. (for one it's steampunkish, Burton doesnt really do steampunk it seems)
It's a fun movie though. The storyline isnt the greatest thing ever or anything, quite cheesy actualy but the animation is absolutely stunning, the textures are incredibly well done and the overall designs are a knock out. I like watching it purely for how incredible it looks.
And I dont even ussualy like computer animated films being more of a fan of traditional animation, but I just love how 9 looks. (especialy how the main character move, it completely takes into acount bouth the mechanical part and the fabric.)
Also. It's all steampunkish. c: One can not help but love the steampunk.
So já? Burton didnt direct it but one should still see it for its awesome visuals? And post-apocalyptic steampunk. For it is awesome.
Dear god. I appearantly really need no excuse for a rant do I?

9 was okay. I felt the plot moved a little too fast. There were no real breaks.

Dornkus 9 was okay. I felt the plot moved a little too fast. There were no real breaks. Mhm. It did, also I felt the ending was the cheesiest thing I've ever seen. Seriously. But yes, the pacing could really have been handled better.
Fortunetly I was not all that disapointed when I saw it at the movies, since I went too see it mostly for the visual designs and animation. And as I said, they were stunning

You're correct about 9, klikk. Here is a link to the original short film by Shane. I heard the ending of the movie stays true to the ending of the short film but it plays out more of the other characters so I no longer feel the need to watch it, at least after watching the short film. It honestly doesn't look that interesting now that I have an idea of the storyline. As for the pacing in Nine, I heard it was awkward and strange. Probably because it was originally a short film and not really meant to become a feature length movie from the looks of it. Though I'm surprised that it went too fast. For stretching out a ten minute video you'd think the pacing would be too slow. But I get the same way about Tim Burton, I'm in no way a die-hard Burton fan but I get irritated by all the emo/goth chicks who just seem to come out of the woodwork anytime Tim Burton is mentioned. (Not to generalize because I know for a fact that it's much more than the emo/goth chick category but you gotta admit that a vast majority of those you see with tNBC bags or Corpse Bride hoodies are female and tend to look the emo or goth stereotype.) They think he's some creative god that should have his feet kissed everywhere he goes. (Once I wised up and realized "s**t, Coraline had nothing to do with Tim Burton" I had some fun with them.) So I completely understand your whole rant. It's not Tim Burton I hate, I actually quite like him but I'm more a casual fan, but it's the fanbase I get sick of.

Saw Alice in Wonderland on Thursday at the midnight show. I had very low expectation of this film since I am not a huge Tim Burton fan at all. The only film I really loved from him was Sweeny Todd and that's because I love the muscial period.
It was a good film, very dark, per normal and every actor was right for the part. Except for the fact that you could totally tell they put a black line on Johnny Depp's teeth to make him look like he had a huge gap. Made me laugh everytime there was a close up. I wish that for some odd reason though, the trailers didnt always focus on the Mad Hatter. It was so much more than that and was mainly the adventure of Alice, not the mad hatter. Though he was a show stopper everytime Johnny was on the screen.
Saw the film in 2D and heard that the 3D only had a few things pop out at you. The best recommendation is save the extra $3 to $4 and go see it in 2D. Its not like Avatar where the film had to be watched in 3D to get the whole experience of the film.
Overall, good movie if you're looking for a bit of an escape. It will not do as well as previous movies over the past month. IE: Avatar. This is just the kick off to the season of summer of squels and remakes. It should be interesting. Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Sex and the City 2, Harry Potter 7 part I, Twilight: Eclipse, etc. Hope they are good, the only thing is why is everything now 3D? It is completely unnesscary for the films to all be in 3D. They hurt peoples eyes.
