"Mm." She nodded her agreement and glanced in the direction of some of the larger buildings she assumed were for community direction. It really made her curious - after all, what could pressure the unbending Ghenzans? Perhaps she'd ask Luci when she got back...
"I think someone said there is a clutch already laid. So it's just a matter of whether or not they hatch before we leave. I haven't seen the eggs - I don't even know where they are." She shrugged, "And... really? That's it? I wonder if they have a lot of dragons go Between as a result. Such a small community... There's a lot here that doesn't make much sense to me. All of their traditions are very nearly backwards to ours." She chuckled, "Almost seems it's like a 'and this must be done' kind of chore then a celebration of new lives like it should be." Amelia frowned, not sounding to impressed, "Everything's about work here."
Did they even have celebrations? Or did you work until you died? That didn't seem like a particularly pleasant way of life to her. Work hard, play hard, that was a way to live.

"Mmmh, yes, umm, dragons are creatures with a function here, just like whers. I'm sure people are happy to see healthy dragons born, because healthy dragons will grow up to work hard... Everything here is functional." Before coming here he had never really appreciated frivolous things like a long hot bath or a candlemark spent reading about a craft he would never practice, they'd just been part of life. He missed it here, missed it a great deal.
"We are not tools," Fealty murmured, gazing out across the fields that he would be working in yet again tomorrow. "We are not spades, nor ploughs, nor picks, nor lathes... We are people, humans and dragons, we are people. We need more than work because... err..." the small man blinked, becoming aware that he had drifted off again, and losing his train of thought temporarily as he looked back at the gold rider and her lifemate. "Because that is what makes us more than spades," he concluded eventually, looking perhaps faintly bemused by his own words. "Philosophy," he sighed and shook his head slightly, "that's not like me at all. This place really must be getting to me."
