Immediately Miriam shifted into the whites of her Cavalier uniform, and Cavalier Kunzite went back to staring at Polaris. Now that Aurora had seen both, they pretty plainly were the same person: transformation glamour was a curious thing. It made Kunzite look a little less daunting, to have that knowledge. Nevertheless she crossed her arms over her chest and looked around the room a bit awkwardly, as if she was trying to figure out what kind of mess the attack would cause. "Do you want me to take you some place a little more undisturbed?" she said a bit brusquely. "We'll go right back here afterward."

There was some silence. Kunzite blinked at her. "Teleportation," she said. "One of the more beneficial aftereffects of corruption."

-She wished she had teleportation. Seriously wished. It would be SO much easier to patrol that way. So much easier to 'TADA!!' save the day with. She almost agreed just to be able to feel it and experience it once. But no! As cool as that might be.. on the off chance they went someplace without any loose metal well.. she didn't really want to look like a total jerk.-

"No no, it's alright. We're already here, and I'm an expert cleaner anyway." -She grinned. She thought it was pretty funny. Aurora Namid was not very funny it turned out.

Positioning her feet sturdy, she stretched her arms out wide, fingers splayed. All part of the magic, you had to make it look good. Especially when someone was watching you.

As she whispered the words, the metal around the room began to jingle and shake. A fancy metal ink pen rocketed from her desk towards the table in the center of her room before a rain of jewelry joined the procession. Her bed and desk rumbled a little, but thankfully stayed put.

An impressive attack, she knew it already from the looks she'd recieved from fellow senshi in the past. But the look of pride shrank into a grimace as a picture frame whizzed past her ear, smashing against the table, and a knife she'd forgotten to put away after lunch came hurtling in their direction. Please hit the table, please hit the table.-

Through this Kunzite had stayed rock-still with her expression frozen, but once the knife came hurtling towards them her sword flicked up in a guard and there was a loud clang: the knife went hurtling the other direction like a baseball. It was almost comical. "Enough," she said a bit more loudly. "I think that's enough."

She looked about a little twitchily for more flying metal objects, and was dismayed when her sword shivered and started to tug of its own volition in Polaris's direction. It prompted her to power down: the sword and uniform melted away and she was back to being Miriam and folding her arms a bit tightly around herself as she backed against the least metallic-looking wall she could find. "Jesus Christ." It was the most fervent thing Miriam had ever said in Aurora's earshot. "Can you control that at all?"

-Had Kunzite been looking she would have witnessed the girl's hands coming together near her chest, a geniune look of 'My hero!' lighting up Polaris' face as the knife's path was thwarted, plunking away in a safe direction.

Luckily, the chaos was already starting to die down, anything small enough to throw itself had already gone and was now lying scattered around the table. The sound of metal ceased leaving silence, followed by words far less icy then she'd imagined could come from the brunette.

Was she impressed? Or irritated?

-Smoothing the folds of her skirt lightly as her other hand forced back the braids that'd been pulled forward by their own jewelry, she offered a mild grin.- "I choose the target that everything gets thrown at, and the strength to some extent, one time with Walkure we hit a youma with a car." -That was still a crowning acheivement in her eyes. Both great leadership on her part AND awesome power. Nevermind the fact that it was probably mostly Walkure's punches that gave it enough umph to work.-

"But..."

"I'm afraid anything metal in the area reacts. From all directions. So once it's in motion and all. Not really..."

-Unbeknown to her, the future held a little help in that regard, but for now, it was willy nilly. Impressive and offensive.. but incredibly sloppy. And collateral damage.. oy vay.-

Miriam was flat against the wall still and looking for more metal debris that might sneak up on her at any moment; once satisfied that this was not going to happen, she looked back at Polaris. With the occasional suspicious glance to one side or the other. "So what you're telling me is that you can attract all metal in a given area to any target that you want -- at high speed?"

She didn't need an answer. Polaris didn't need to answer her. Miriam shook her head slowly, though what emotion it expressed was yet to be seen -- but then she made it clear with, "Do you know how powerful that is?"

Silence reigned for another moment or two as the other girl looked down at her shoes. She seemed to be composing her thoughts. Once she did, she went on, "I was going to talk to you about using your environment to your advantage. It seems like that's more relevant than I even thought." She met Polaris's eyes. "You need to learn to fight on ground you can use. If you take the battle to your own turf a youma wouldn't stand a chance. Neither would a Negaverse Lieutenant."

-The edges of her mouth lifted, so little that it was likely someone else might not have noticed. But they most definately lifted in soft pride as Polaris listened to the other girl. It was like a flood of relief. A gorgeous bubbling brook of delight after the ego smack down that had shattered her mood earlier that evening.

And as the bit of advice was doled out, she nodded intently. Of course she'd noticed to some extent.. had begun to take tally of how much in the area would react to her attack, had been geniunely fearful when she ended up in places lacking the usual trash and mess. The advice was good, and yet.. her finger tapped her cheek lightly, thinking aloud.- "It makes sense. If I could I'd love to fight everyone in a kitchen.. but is it really possible to lure the enemy to places that'll give me the upperhand?"

"Or maybe I'm better off taking things with me?" -She'd once debated this actually.. had picked up random metal bits only to find they dissapeared into nothingness when she dehenshined. She'd abandoned the idea without much thought but now...

The thought of placing the power and responsibility of killing someone onto her powers instead of her bare hands... it was oddly comforting. The girl... for that was all she was under all the glitter and magic... she couldn't even begin to imagine herself with blood on her hands.. with a body at her feet.-

"I don't know," said Miriam. She looked a little nonplussed, which confirmed the sentiment; she pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger and furrowed her brow in thought. "I'm not accustomed to thinking with magic other than --" She broke off and frowned. "Other than Venus's," she finished, and then elaborated, "Sailor Venus, my old partner. A very long time ago. I'm rambling."

She was far from rambling, of course, but perhaps this was her own standard of rambling: she was a taciturn person, after all, and more than comfortable with silence. "I'll have to think more about what you can do with your environment," she said, "but in the meantime, you need to be ready to pick up the objects you do attract after your attack's done and use them. If killing's really what you're after."

-Her brows drew noticeably upwards at the soft tidbit of knowledge.. or perhaps it was more likened to gossip. It really wasn't much, but it was obvious the words meant something to Miriam. It was strange.. how quickly things could change. Sure there would probably be plenty of occassions in which Aurora would find herself momentarily startled, even frightened of the brunette again. But not now.. not at this moment.-

"It must be nice to have a close partner." -It was a statement, wistful and without any real ask for answer.- "I've yet to be graced with a permanent one, maybe one day."

-Her skirt changed, shifting color and length until once again Aurora's clothing matched Miriam's, and she knealed as if just as suddenly as if she'd only just realized that there was a mess in the middle of her room.

Fingers looping around bangles and thin necklaces, she pondered the advice softly, before nodding.- "I've never really thought to do that before, but it certainly makes sense."

-She was silent for another long moment as the last words rubbed against her, trying hard to think of a way to answer them. They seemed.. offensive.. even though they weren't. Atleast.. they hadn't seemed to be meant that way. Who was really after killing? Well.. other than the negaverse who seemed to do it for fun?-

"I really do appreciate the help" -She added suddenly, looking up from her position on the floor, metal bits cradled within the soft folds of her dress.-

"You didn't have to and I won't forget..." -What did one say.. I'll dedicate my first kill to you? Now THAT was offensive.- "I'll do my best."

Miriam knelt to clean up the mess as well, gathering metal items into her arms with businesslike efficiency. She hated mess, that much was known about her, or perhaps she felt obliged to help Aurora -- either way, she attacked the task with some zeal and started reorganizing Aurora's room in a way that apparently made more sense to her. The opportunity to do this cheered her up more than anything previous had, and she narrated what she was doing without turning around: "I'm putting the paperclips here," she held up the box of paperclips, "and your desklamp on this side of the desk, it'll shed more light," and so on and so forth for several minutes.

When her share of metallic objects had been put away to her satisfaction, she oversaw her work with her hands on her hips and then turned back to Aurora, immediately looking a little more awkward. Such was her way. She looked at some especially fascinating spot on the floor.

"I don't turn down people who need help," she said brusquely. "It's what any decent person would do." She paused a longer moment. "You can't expect killing to be easy the first time you do it," Miriam said. "It's not something you actually get used to. If you aren't evil."

-She was torn between instructing just were things should go and being thankful for the help. In the end she went with the later, finding the places Miriam set things as not too wildly disturbing. And besides.. if they proved to not work for her, she could always move them later. Her room had always seemed bare and solitary, perhaps the touch of someone else would do it good.-

"You'd be surprised how many seemingly indecent people there are here at this school" -She mused, pausing almost as suddenly as it'd come out. In retrospect.. after the cookie fiasco she might have lumped Miriam in that category. But obviously she'd been mistaken, just seen a sliver of a whole being and accepted that as the whole. Perhaps there were more good Crystal girls out there. There had to be.- "I'm glad to find someone else with a similar sense of duty and responsibilty."

-After the pause Aurora found herself silent for a long moment as well, nodding sofly in response. It was nice.. to be reassured that choosing this path didn't totally make you a monster. Perhaps in the back of her head that's why she'd even hunted down the white knight that evening.- "We just have to do what's necessary.. and hope this is all over sooner rather then later" -If only the actual timeline reflected the girl's optimism.- "We are the good guys after all. Killing to protect the people... isn't right. But it isn't quite so bad as killing for power." -It was fairly obvious the last statement was rhetorical... was a young girl trying to convince herself of something not so easily swallowed.-

"Killing isn't right," Miriam said, shortly, a bit awkwardly: if there was any kind of conversation she wasn't awkward about, which was becoming increasingly unlikely, it probably wasn't abstract moral discussion. "I mean, there's nothing intrinsically -- right about it. And a lot intrinsically wrong about it. But I mean," she put her hands together and folded the cuffs of her blouse sleeves, which was beginning to look like a nervous tic, "I guess there's a lot more intrinsically wrong about letting other people die. Other decent people. Normal people who haven't done anything wrong."

There was a long silence while she fiddled with her sleeves more. She kept shooting glances at the clock. Eventually she went on, "I mean, that's the thing. The Negaverse, they're killing a lot of people. Any one of them dying is a lot more people saved. You just have to think about that, I guess."

It wasn't exactly a stirring speech. She seemed to know it, too, because she then burst out with, "Look, I'm not a superhero movie. I'm sure Uncle Ben had -- something to say to Peter Parker about this. Go ask him."

Miriam Jacobs closed her eyes. It was getting late.

-Miriam's fidgeting was slowly but surely causing a similar reaction in Aurora, her fingers smoothing creases in her skirt that were long ago settled. In fact, if it continued on for much longer, the fabric was bound to begin to wear thin. A yawn, that Aurora promptly lifted her hand politely to cover, saved the skirt from further assault.-

"There is too much already being shoulder on us. Proper motivational speaking seems like a silly one to expect of someone given the circumstances."

"I mean.. we're only in highschool. Not even adults" -It was a sombering thought for Aurora.. Aurora who didn't even have her driving liscense yet. And yet someone had felt it perfectly okay to put the fate of the world and other people in her lap.

Shifting a little, she motioned towards the door for a moment before starting to walk towards it. Even sincere gratefulness didn't make her inclined to an entire night of awkwardness. They needed sleep anyway.- "Regardless, you've been very helpful"

-She paused hesitantly, fingers on the doorknob, giving the girl.. the captain, a moment to say anything else she might have liked to before freeing her to the night.-

Miriam crossed to the door faster than Aurora -- owing again probably to her longer legs and athletic condition. She nodded when Aurora spoke, and then nodded again, more shortly, when she thanked her. When they both reached the door she paused with her eyes fixed straight ahead.

"If you need any more help, you know where to reach me," she said as if reading off a script. "You have your phone and you know where I room here. Leave a message if you need to."

And without further ado she started off -- but lingered, a moment, meeting Aurora's eyes again to give one final, almost non-awkward piece of nonverbal thanks: a salute. Sharp, two-fingered, from the forehead. Then she half-smiled and went on her way.

-Under other occassions she might have inwardly noted how quickly and frantically Miriam was trying to escape. Made a check mark of rudeness, or questioned just what she'd done to cause such a reaction. But it was late, and fairly obvious what the cause was. Even politeness was not able to hold together an evening of awkwardness forever.

It seemed in the promise of escape however a glimmer arose, the other girl's fingers lifting in a soft salute. It was enough to make Aurora bubble with glee and pride. Dipping her shoulders and head lightly in return, a strange show of submission that if asked she might swear was nothing more then a polite thanks. And through the crack of the door she watched until the other girl disapeared around a corner before finally shutting it completely.

She had alot of work to do, planning and thinking to do. As she slipped into bed clothing and finally into the satin sheets, her mind began to filter through the conversation once more, swirling and swaying until finally her eyelids sank shut and refused to stir again.-
