Parker scoffed. "Yeah, you have a point." The only senshi he'd seen had been wearing little more than the uniform of a teenage prostitute. And the one manshi he'd seen was wearing a skirt. A skirt. Parker doubted they'd be walking down any runway anytime soon, not that he really cared about that kind of stuff. Virgo's outfit was pretty okay, if he had to choose, but she had been so insufferable that it was hard to focus on any positive qualities.

Swinging his feet over the edge of the bed, Parker ripped back his covers. "Now you might have to get a real job. I'm sure Hillworth has given you an excellent scholastic foundation," he said, rolling his eyes.

The pillow was cool when Parker adjusted it, propping it against the wall that served as his headboard. His hands stopped when Jaimie spoke. "A writer?" he parroted, flipping back over and tucking his legs under the sheets. "I didn't know you liked to write." Had no idea, actually. Parker wrote all of the time -- mostly sketchy notes in journal or blog ideas scribbled hastily on napkins and stuffed into his pockets. He had never noticed Jaimie writing. Maybe he was just too fixated on himself?

The conversation was teetering on the edge of something Real and Serious, and by and large, Parker and Jaimie never dipped below the surface. They didn't really quarrel, but they didn't bond either. They just shared shallow conversations about their days typically peppered by self-deprecating humor (from Parker, usually) and sarcastic jabs taken at one another. But this conversation had taken a turn.

Did this mean they might bond?

Parker smirked. "Maybe you should focus on mob enforcer. I bet the administration could get you a great recommendation. Maybe you could ask Killingworth?" The gym teacher had the best name that any gym teacher could ever have. Parker was highly intimidated by the man. How could you not be afraid of a man with lilac hair who threw a dodgeball with the accuracy of a sniper? Parker was more at home in the library than the gym, and Killingworth was king of the gym and therefore terrifying. He wrangled the sociopaths that frequently stuffed Parker into lockers on a daily basis.

Killingworth wasn't exactly the best thing to think about before bed. Great.

Parker slipped under the covers and gave the small reading lamp by his bed a tug to turn it off. He didn't say goodnight. He just rolled over and closed his eyes, serious conversation successfully avoided.
