Rita didn't like people for one reason and one reason only; the judgemental, the condescending, the hypocritical. Things of that sort, things that made humans such calculating backstabbing bitches? Those were reasons why she didn't like people. She couldn't say that she didn't judge people, because she knew she did, but ther was a difference between a first impression and deciding on a person's personality by the way they tie their ******** shoes. Her tongue flicked idly over the silver ring on her lower lip. Her jacket had been long since stuffed into her Batman bag and an old pair of aviator sunglasses covered her blue eyes. The sun was in the blue gaze and she didn't neccesarily appreciate it. A soft sigh passed through her lips, sucker moving idly as she forced it to. The gum was hidden inside, but she'd wait to get to it. She tugged at her hair, wanting nothing more than to cut it. She drew it up into her hands, fashioning a simple, but messy bun at the top of her head. Hair and her bangs fell easily over her forehead, framing her heart shaped face. The shirt she wore with a simple yellow stamp proved her alleigance to Yellowcard (or more specifically their epic amazing drummer LP, who just happened to be gifted by Apollo from what she had recently read) and her grey jeans donned in zippers and safety pins were less for fashion, but more because Rita almost always found herself needing one or the other. Mainly the safety pins were used for binding wounds and it was a lot easier to just shove them on her jeans than keep them in her pocket. She supposed she could try fashioning a necklace out of them. She shrugged absentmindedly; her Izze bottlecap necklace hadn't gotten much time lately and she thought it deserved it. She closed her eyes for a moment, fingers colored with chipped black twirling the white stick that hung just out of her pink lips. Her eyes turned a wary shade of green as the girl began speaking, hidden behind her glasses. She watched the girl move, the way she moved. She wasn't quite sure if she would like her or not, but hte simple way her eyes (as well as the boy's) landed on her stepdad's little engraving told her that it might take a little while before she warmed up to her. Her legs were crossed plainly and she took each name. Ayame. Sho. Simple enough to remember, easier still to forget. She leaned back on her left hand, fingers taking the sucker from between her lips. "Rita." she offered plainly. It wasn't anything personal. Margarita never gave her full name out, normally because people automatically assumed she was from an odd family because of her lovely first name. Her toes curled up in her knee-high converse when Ayame spoke. "No one's gonna stop you." she offered. Immediately she wanted to kick Arson in the teeth for even letting her be dragged along for most of this evil scheme of his. His attempts at making her even moderately social had always failed in the past. What the hell did he expect to happen this time? Did he think she would open up and make this Ayame girl her BFF? Did he think that she'd help Rita get over losing the Ivy the two of them had cared for so deeply. <******** no. she thought, a bored look in her now green eyes. She wasn't in the mood for this, but Arson sure seemed to be. Her eyes lingered on Sho for an idle moment, raising a plain brow. Ayame's sneer and Sho's bland look. They didn't bother her much when their colored gazes passed over the scar. Her mind went idly to what they might have thought on it. Self-inflicted probably, people were interesting like that. The moment they saw a scar anywhere, people would already assumed you got your sick kicks on digging nails into the back of your hand and scribbling out the word 'obidience'. It didn't matter if you donned yourself in dark clothes, leather and black or if you were covered in pink and looked like a model. People just loved to judge, to jump to conclusions. She resisted the oddest urge to scoff and plainly rolled the circle of red spherical sugar around in her mouth, waiting to hit the gum center. She'd put up with it, but only for a little while. She'd appease Arson, but the minute things started getting serious, Rita was going to freaking bolt. Just like you always do. cooed that irritating little voice in the back of her head. Damn, she wanted to go home. Not to the home that awaited her, with Zofia and Stella stuck with the father that was all to theirs. She wanted to return to the home that was singularly her own and her mother's, back when things were simple, easy. Back before Rita could shoot flames out of her fingertips or couldn't read plain English without getting a migrane.

Arson was never really the people person. It had always been Ivy, the short black haired wonder. His younger sister had always been the life of their trio's little party and it was really as simple as that. She was the one who made new friends and introduced them to Rita and Arson. Ivy was the one trying to figure out ways to smuggle a few old items into camp. She was always the girl to try and brighten your day, whether or not she could even brighten her own. She hadn't deserved to be dragged down to see Hades. It was far before her time. The beads on his wrist suddenly weighed like tons. She had died at thirteen, leaving behind a bracelet, her love, and a hundred thousand wishes. She had been such a sweet little girl. She was one of the few people that Rita had ever been able to open up to and honestly be friends with. After Ivy died, she had retreated back into her own silent little bubble. And because of his somewhat anti-social nature, Arson had been able to figure out why. Rita had seen too much of her own younger sisters in Ivy, the all too human little sisters that she had been forced to leave behind. For the most part, Arson was sympathetic to Rita's fitful emotions and could comprehend how she felt, but most days he wanted to punch her in the throat and make her listen to reason. She couldn't just be alone all the damn time. She couldn't just ignore the rest of the world and mope around like an angry b***h. It wasn't healthy and it sure as hell wasn't all that amusing. "Don't worry about it. the more the merrier." he said to her. She was prettty, but when you lived in a place where children of the goddess of love were a plenty (not to mention the children of her son, Eros) your standards of 'pretty' were sort of warped. "Arson Nightshade. A pleasure to meet you too." he said, taking her hand. That's what I thought. There was a soft smile on his lips; her hands weren't the white silk that he was so sure Rita had already begun to think they were. They were rougher than that. If he had to compare them to another cloth, it'd probably be linen. Maybe something more coarse. When Myka spoke again, Arson only smiled, resisting the urge to kick her. "Ignore her. She's just..." he let his voice trail for a moment, trying to decide on a word that would correctly sum up his darling friend without having himself lose a couple of teeth. "Cranky." he said, finally deciding on a good word to describe the vibrant haired daughter of Apollo. "All the time."

Myka simply smiled. She blinked one eye open. She had the strangest urge to laugh at the glorious irony and sarcasm of the situation. She closed her hazel eye and lifted her head. Carefully, she used an old hair tie from around her wrist, and pulled her hair up into a ponytail before laying back down. "B*tchy and cold and hard to read and wonderfully, perfectly, emotionlessly blank as me? You've got bad grammar. 'Emotionlessly blank'. Gorgeous." she replied, her voice even as it was moments ago.

Sho shrugged. "I said I wasn't stupid, not that I excel in the excitingness of grammar." He said, purposely using another word that didn't exist. He ran off to join the ever growing volleyball game, coming to a stop next to Ayame. "Sorry about what that girl said to you." He muttered.

Ayame shook her head. "It's okay, I don't care. She's right, I'm just too easy to read." Ayame punched the ball, and sent it flying, her face still dull and blank.

Myka yawned and listened tot he random sounds of people and of a volleyball game. She twitched her nose halfheartedly before running her hands across her bangs. She regretted nothing. Myka pulled a kunai knife from her holster. Faintly, she wondered why she hadn't taken it off yet. The small hole on the knife, and began twirling it on her index figner. She opened her eyes, and watched as the metal glinted in the sun. An almost rainbow color bursted off of the blade as it turned.

Three hours later, an extremely tired and worn-out Sho and Ayame stumbled towards the Mess Hall. Ayame still looked defeated, but Sho looked annoyed as he pulled on his shirt and then sweatshirt. The sun was starting to go down, and the night air was getting cold. Abruptly, Sho kicked a tree. "D@mn I hate it here." He snarled, trying to vent out some of his anger.

Ayame sat down on the ground and wrapped her arms around herself, already used to Sho's outbursts.

Myka looked up, barely realizing that time had passed. She looked up and then at Sho. She sat upright and slid the knife back into it's holster. She raised her brow."I doubt that kicking that poor tree will help you vent. Try stabbing it."

"Shut up!" Sho growled, his eyes blazing.

"That won't help." Ayame said softly. "When Sho is angry, he just has to vent it out. You can't really calm him down." She looked up at Myka, her blue/green eyes glassy in the moon-light. "Saying something like that might even make it worse." She rested her chin on her knees, and sighed.

Sho rounded on Myka. "How can you stand it here?" He snarled, his jet-black hair flying out behind him.

Myka smiled a sad and knowing smile. "I can't. To be perfectly honest, I doubt any of us can. There is a burning rage that everyone here has. A burning rage at being torn away from the lives that we knew and being forced into this world." she said, basically spitting out her final worlds as if they were bile. "Some of us are better at hiding it than others." Myka replied. Her hazel eyes were slightly downcast before Myka fell onto her back once more.

Sho snorted. "Yeah, thanks for those very philosophical and very unhelpful words." He said. "I suppose you're one of the better ones at hiding it?" His tone was both icy and angry.

"Sho," Ayame said quietly, holding up her hands. "Please calm down." She turned to Myka, her eyes thoughtful. "You seem to have been here a while. Maybe you could help us out." She twisted a strand of blond hair around her finger. "We're new here, and don't really know what to do, or where to go or anything."

"Actually no. I'm very bad at hiding the fact that I'm pissed. That's why half the time, I'm maiming practice dummies instead of hurting trees." Myka shrugged simply. "Been here almost six years. You learn how to fight and try not to get killed in the outside world, if you try to get out. There's no use hating this place, because it's the only moderatly safe place for us half-blood freaks." she replied. Myka sat up and then got to her feet. She dusted off her jeand and picked up her jacket. She dusted off her jacket as well before putting the biker jacket on. "Only thing to do is learn how to fight. Spar against others, make your way to the top, and eventually leave. That's the only outlook I can see. Sorry if it doesn't help you much. You already look like you can fight. Do you have any celestial bronze weapons?" she asked, turning to Ayame.

"That wasn't what I meant." Ayame said softly, still sitting on the ground. "I mean, we don't know about cabins, or how the day in planned out, or where to sit doing meals." She smiled faintly. "It's like high school all over again." She shook her head in response to Myka's question. "I don't fight." She said simply.

"Or you could just leave." Sho snapped angrily, though his temper was fading slightly. "I don't see any rule telling me I have to stay here." He smiled bitterly. "And even if there is, I don't care. I'm not staying here, easy as that."

Myka flared up slightly. "Then why don't you leave and get your sorry a** killed?! I don't see how you don't understand that it isn't safe for us in the outside world. Our kind is getting picked off day by day and you're being selfish and ungrateful for the fact that you're safe here!" she snapped. Fire snapped around the ends of her hair before she looked back at Ayame and cooled off. "You'll be staying in the Hermes Cabin until your missing parent claims you. You'll sit at the Hermes table for all meals. Other than that, just wait out for the first few weeks and do whatever you want until everything is finally set up." she replied, running her hand through her hair.

Sho's eyes flared angrily, and he opened his mouth, but Ayame got there first. In one swift move, she stood up and slapped Sho across cheek. "Snap out of it." She hissed, her temper, the one she had been successfully hiding for the past couple hours starting to surface. "Just stop! I'm not any happier about being here than you are! Do you think I like it here? Do you think I like having to hide all my emotions and pretend to be something I'm not just so that I can still pretend to be in control of myself? Do you think I like having to spend my time with someone is is exactly like me, only better in any way. Sometimes Sho, I really hate you! I want to be myself, and I don't want to be here! But I can't be myself, because that Ayame burns so brightly that everyone can read her, and everyone knows exactly what she's thinking! So for once in your godd@mn life, stop whining and accept that maybe some things just might not go exactly the way you want! It's not all about you!" Tears formed in Ayame's eyes, but she brushed them away roughly, and turned to Myka. "Thank you for telling us that." She said politely, her face a blank mask once again. "Are you in the Hermes Cabin too?"

Sho's expression was slightly guilty, and he looked at the ground, the red hand-print on his face still smarting.

Myka knew when to keep her mouth shut and when to keep talking. But this situation sort of confused her. She shook it off mentally before looking back at Ayame. "Yeah. I haven't been claimed yet. A lot of us are piled up in the Hermes Cabin, and bed space is going fast."
