"Really?" Annie said. "Where were you born? I'm from further south. I heard a rumor that my parents had headed north, both of them." She stopped a moment and closed her eyes. "Do you have any siblings?" she managed to get out.

"Up in the north is where I was born. I've been moving south slowly ever since I left my family many years ago. Last I saw of them I was the only child of my parents, but as I said, it's been a while since I've been in contact wit them." It was strange to talk about her family, she never really had a reason to until now.

"So you just left?" Annie asked, completely fascinated. It wasn't an option she'd considered - the child leaving the parents. In her mind, families stayed together for ever and ever. None of the princesses had left yet, and there was Hoku, an old son of Stormwind's who still hung around. But... yes, it did make sense. Everybody else in the pack was on their own, unless they had a mate. An entire pack of outcasts. How sad.

"Yes, it was the only sensible thing for me to do. I had learned all I could from my parents and the only path to further my knowledge was to set out on my own. My parents agreed, so I left." Coming from a less than close-knit family, she never really saw what she had done as strange. But she also knew desire to stay with one's family. Shortly after leaving her own she felt the sting of loneliness, but rather than turn back and return to her mother and father she saw it as a test of her strength and pushed on. That was how she got to where she was today, and if given the choice she would certainly make the same decision.

Annie nodded slowly. "I think I see what you mean. I... did something similar. But the knowledge I seek is about my parents. I want to know why they left, where they went! Have you seen them?" she asked hopefully. "My mother has a red pelt and spots, just like me, but none of this cream. And my father... I don't know what he looks like, except he is all cream, and I think he has no spots.
"I'm also looking for my brother..." she added softly.

Kunoichi shook her head, "I'm afraid I've seen no such dragon. And if your brother looks anything like yourself, I doubt I've met him either." She remembered every dragon she met while she was traveling, mostly due to the fact that she had met so few, and she certainly didn't remember any with a coat as loud as Annie's. Yet again, she felt as if she should close her comment with something that would keep her pack mate's hopes up, "Continue looking, though. You'll never find what you are looking for if you stop looking."

Annie sighed. Too much too hope for then. "Yeah," she said. "I guess I'll find them eventually. I mean, how far can they be? And I'd only recognize my mother if I saw her.
"But hey," she added, more cheerfully, "maybe I'll get lucky and they'll find me. Westfall won't stay small forever, after all."

"That is true." Kunoichi was glad to hear Annie's mood starting to brighten. Whether or not talking to the dark female was what helped or not, she was simply content to know that her pack mate wasn't in the depths of despair, "The pack is slowly growing and I wouldn't be surprised if one who knew of your parents joined our ranks eventually." Subconsciously she raised her eyes to the sky, taking note of the sun's placement and realizing that she would have to return to guarding the den soon.

"Yes!" Annie said, brightening. "That's sure to happen. Somebody will have heard of them, or heard of someone who heard of them, and they will come here."
She glance up at the sun as well, sensing the other's change in mood. "I'd really get back to hunting," she said. "Those deer won't catch themselves! But I'll see you around, Kuno." She smiled at the other female and set off.

Kunoichi nodded to Annie as she trotted off, smiling slightly at her much improved mood, "Good luck then, Annie." Perhaps she was wrong, but the dark female believed she had managed to make her first friend among her new pack. Twisting around she started off back towards the pack so that she could start her guard shift.
