She chuckled and shook her head. "Your eyes deceive your words. Be careful. That could be bad for you someday, Cass." She smiled again. "Soulmates are correct. True. It's the proper term for love. True love. But alas, it's often use as a scandal, often to make the other look stupid, and naive." She snorted. "Of course, I've never had to use it. Nobody is usually around for me to fall in love with. Along with that, nobody cares for people like me. Lower class, y'know?"
Her breathing had seemed to stop, as her said it wasn't exactly true. "I suppose you could be right. I mean, after all, it is just a word, am I not correct?" Her eyes and words seemed to be deceiving her this time, but she'd leave that for him to decide. Her thoughts dug into the way of her listening. What is he thinking about exactly?
"You know, the closest way to a person's heart, is through their mind? Get to know their likes, dislikes. Personality, what they think is correct, and incorrect. It'd be a lot easier if people didn't guard themselves from other people. That's the tricky thing with these soulmate things. People say, 'I love you.', almost exactly like it's the words, 'I trust you.'. They don't understand, and then they get hurt. I don't know if I'll ever find someone as good as that. Who knows? Maybe it could be you. But you need to open yourself up so I could get to know you better. Or maybe, all we need, is a bit of luck. But who knows. It seems that the best people end up with a friend. Tell me. Is all that your currently stating to me true in your full, whole hearted, honest opinion?"

"No." He answered flatly. "If we had met just a little earlier I would have in fact claimed you as my soulmate and be all over you... for a brief time, that is." He turned his head away for a moment to think. Why not just spill his entire life to a stranger? Not like it made a difference. Maybe it would even bother her. He looked at her again. "I use to fall in love pretty easy, you know. Earnestly in fact, with just about any mare." He shrugged, "soulmate of the day, week, and if we happened to meet up once again they'd be my soulmate once more." He sighed, "I'd act all charming and sweet, not giving off the slightest hint of impurity in my affections." Cas lowered his eyes, "and then I met 'the one'... and didn't even realize it."
Straightening up he quickly wrapped up the story, "and so I accidentally had foals with another mare, broke her heart, ended up broken hearted myself, and here I am... trying not to return to my disgusting ways." He tried to lay down a hint that it was real difficult to not turn back into a charmer by talking to her. Weird though... I've chatted a bit with a few other mares... I really had no urge to flirt. Why now?

Her eyes flickered. "Why'd you leave her Cass? Why'd you leave her all alone? She needed you. Your foals needed you. You left them to die. Don't you think you could have been a good parent? I'm sure they were fine. But don't you think that you could have just been a good father..? I mean, I think you would have been a good father. Scratch that. I think you will be a good father, once you find the one you want to be with." She said, giving off the smallest hint of a sign of affection. She appreciated his company. He was kind, in more ways then one.

Cas did a 360 and gave a death glare. "I was a good father! The best I could be! I raised those kids by her every step of the way, so don't dare say I left them to die! I searched every fathom of the possibility we could be true mates! I fed them all the lies they needed to think that we were a whole family! And now they're fine adults whom have accepted the truth. The heart I broke was the one who I never touched!" He took a deep breath and took a step back, then suddenly his behavior sunk in.
"Oh my god... I'm so sorry!" It was obviously some kind of misunderstanding, he didn't have to blow up at her. "I swear I didn't mean to give you that kind of face! That's not my real face, please believe me!" Had he hurt her? Frightened her with his sudden burst? He took another step back. This couldn't be! How could he give such a mean look? That was reserved for males. His eyes glanced around frantically, as if trying to figure out how he could lose his composure and how he could show her his apology was sincere.

Luna blinked, taken aback, still looking into his eyes. Her feelings had been hurt. She couldn't believe that he had blown up on her. Her nose tickled and she gave a small sneeze and then looked back. "Cass. Your eyes. They deceived your emotion this time." She shook her head.
"Who exactly are you trying to prove this to? You? Or me?" She said, kindly, but bluntly. She was confused by his ways.

"Don't tell me what my emotions are, Luna." He said coldly, though a defensive reaction to her response, "because we aren't soulmates and you don't know me better than I do." Wait, what was she trying to say? Deceived his emotions? "And prove just what?" He sighed and furrowed his eyebrows a bit, trying to relax the rest of his face. Why am I being horrible so suddenly? I was the one that shared my history, she didn't ask, and now...

Her eyes narrowed. "I never said WE were soulmates. I couldn't stand to be stuck with a narrow minded, idiotic stallion like you." Her words started leaking out like poison. "If I had to be stuck with you for the rest of my life, I'd die. And prove? I think you were trying to prove to yourself that you were a good father. When you think about it, you were just about as horrible of a father, then you are a person."

"And I couldn't stand to be to be near a pathetic excuse for a mare like you any longer. Good luck finding at least a friend, and even more good luck finding a 'soulmate', because you'll need it. This conversation is over." He flicked his tail and turned around, "and I wasn't trying to prove anything. You insulted me, therefore insulted my family. Don't talk like you know me, because you weren't there and never will be. Goodbye, Luna." He began to trot away.

Luna snorted. "I'm pathetic? I'm not the one sitting there, trying to say things that aren't true." Her tail swished as he began to leave. Not again. I can't lose another person.
"W-Wait." She called out. "D-Don't go."

Cas stopped but didn't turn. It wasn't that he could stand talking to her at this point. He just didn't want to become any more horrible than he already was acting, and wasn't sure of he could erase her current view of him. "...I said I was sorry," he mumbled. He turned his head to look at her. He had a pathetic expression on, to hide the fact that if she hadn't stopped him he would have risked his pride to turn back around and ask for forgiveness. "Man, we just met each other and already this is already one of the most dramatic experiences of my life! Do I mess things up with everyone important!?" He wasn't necessarily asking her.

"It's probably the same reason on why everyone ignores me, and doesn't like me." She said, with a small sigh. It was true. She hadn't had a single friend since she was a foal. She sighed again.
"I heard you say sorry." She said, giving a curt nod. "And.. I forgive you. As you can for me?"

Cas felt a relief that she forgave him. "Of course," he smiled and trotted back over. "Now, before we were getting off track, this was some sort of discussion about getting un-lost...?"

Luna gave a small chuckle. "Yeah, my home is around here. I never can get lost. I can show you the way to the road. Follow me." She said, as she began to trot off towards the west. The road was located near her house, and she often saw other soquili go by, occasionally an Angeni, or a Kirin, but never really gave much thought to it. She'd never used the road, never leaving her homelands. There was too much to do there, and she wanted to do all of it.
"It's this way." She announced.

Cas nodded and followed, still feeling a bit awkward. Hm, she lives a little far from where my home is... Not far for someone who could fly like Anthea or Nerrius- but nonetheless far for someone grounded like himself. For some reason the thought of having such a far neighbor made him a tad... disappointed. Ah well, not like I'd visit her or anything... maybe...
