Jada was acknowledged with a nod. “Hah, you’re right” simply replied Alessa with nonetheless a warm smile. She looked around and wondered just how many girls were from Crystal Academy. Most of them, probably, judging from the dresses alone.
“Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself, I’m so silly! I’m Alessa”, she added right before stepping aside. Fortunately, there were also boys here. This wasn’t just a Crystal party in disguise.

Speaking of which, she didn’t miss Damian’s gaze. His choice in clothing was unique to say the least. If he had been accepted, she shouldn’t worry so much about fitting in, after all. Needless to say, she blushed like the schoolgirl she was.

He had never made plans for Valentine’s Day as it brought up the issue of being single, romance, and that age old question of “What do I like?” that he wasn’t sure he was ready to answer. Every time the holiday came around, he tried to ignore it by going to the park where couples were always constant and easy to ignore. Where there were no banners, fat cherubs, or lacey hearts decorating every shop window. Worse yet, there were the horribly-constructed stuffed animals that made him cringe. Dancing Pigs and Elivis Bears that sang songs like “My Girl” and “Burning love”. The tacky, fake flowers were also an abomination.

To avoid all of this, he stayed at home and constructed something mind-numbing like a 10,000 piece puzzle from the many untouched boxes that they had stuffed in a closet. This holiday would be a picture of a boat during a storm, complete with about a bazillion blue pieces for the surrounding ocean. That was until Tate called him.

It seemed her mother had wanted to drag her to one of her parties, and not one to be around anyplace her mother was, Tate said she had already made plans. In desperation to give her mother actual proof of this, the flier for the Single’s Awareness party had been used by accident. Then the friend card was pulled out, and not wanting to be alone on a party that basically said, “I’m alone”, Ladon was set up to accompany her. Ladon was going to his first ever party on Valentine’s Day!

If he wasn’t already nervous enough, he had to be dropped off by his mother, and mortified, stepped out of the car as she finished her speech about treating women properly, being polite, and being “careful”. Careful was probably the closest his mother got to talking about sex, and he shut the door and waved her off, glad to be out of the car.

Standing in front of the Fondue Haus, he felt very out of place. There was music filtering outside as a soft glow of light came from the windows. It looked more sophisticated than he expected, but it still made him wonder if he had dressed up too much. In was a miracle to find any suits in his size that were not for children, but he managed to find one. Classic black coat and black Highland pants with a white dress shirt. The collar turned down, but instead of a black carvat, he took a black ribbon as a tie. Unfortunately it crinkled as he came here, messed up by his scarf and brown pea coat. As a finishing touch, he wore an Emerald Isle green vest that contrasted to the forest-green of his eyes.

Dale was not the only one hiding damage. He had bandages on his legs from a run in with the senshi Regulus, and a skin-colored bandage on his cheek.

Moving up, he adjusted his black gloves before pausing at the door. Tate didn’t seem to be here, and he looked around for her. He wondered if he should wait outside, but a few people passed and left the door ajar. Glancing in, he saw no sign of his friend, and panic took hold. What if she changed her mind? What if her mother did take her to the other party? What if he was left alone to a party he didn’t even want to be at?!

The thought terrified him. Fidgeting, he gave one last look to the sidewalk and then slowly entered in to find the entrance full. Guests were flooding in by the minute, and he stepped aside from the door to wait his turn. His pea coat was taken, as were his scarf, and he waited, wondering if he should stay by the door to wait for Tate.

The miracles of modern fashion killed Tate sometimes.

Her mother had found the invitation stuffed into the pocket of her school coat, folded into an elaborate crane of refusal to go. Invasion of privacy ignored, for some arcane reason, Mariska had asked her: Is this why you're not going to the Johanssons' party Sunday? Is it? and Tate, without thinking, had said yes.

This had been a terrible, terrible move.

To her mother's party, she could have worn a tie and a vest. She could have been shocking because all that mattered to Mariska was that she went. Going to a different party, even if it was a party full of teenagers, meant that her mother would drag her out shopping, then from there to home for makeup, and hours of fussing with her hair and...

Damn it, she would have preferred to hang out at the Johanssons' party.

So this led to her standing outside the Fondue Haus, clinging to her ivory coat and dreading the moment when she stepped inside. She was glad that she wasn't wearing high heels; still heels, but if they'd been an inch higher she would be six foot even and that would be.

Terrifying.

Mariska made a shooing motion and left; Tate looked down at the pleated fabric of her dress, sighed. She didn't look forward to taking off the coat; it hid the way her emerald-colored dress made it look like she had... boobs. The empire waist made her look like she had an a**. She looked like she had a figure. It was going to kill her reputation forever.

That seemed to be the purpose of the evening, so she went ahead and stepped inside, surrendered her coat, and crossed her arms over her chest; the silver link bracelet on her wrist jingled a little against the embroidered 'belt' just under her bustline. Hopefully Ladon would be coming, too. She knew he had an invite... Speaking of, she handed that off as well, glad to see the end of the thing. And then...

"Ladon, oh thank god," said Tate, sighing with relief as she placed her hands on his shoulders. "Hide me." This was ridiculous. She said it anyway.

Just behind her, Elke stepped through the door. She had done her practice for the day, which made her presence in the Fondue Haus perfectly legitimate; especially since the Princess had practically promised to follow along later. Elke hoped she had not been lying, she knew that she had been not exactly inconspicuous about how badly she wanted to go to the party... but poor Serenade, she didn't have Ally or anyone. Poor Serenade was all alone, except for her Zodiacs.

She passed off her coat and gloves, smoothed out the soft white fabric, and checked to make sure her blue hair was still firmly french braided out of her eyes. All the flowers were still in it, too--white carnations, like the ones on the tables. Her expression was clearly one of unadulterated, childish wonder as she looked around. She was so glad the Princess had told her to go... Then, with a curtsey to Jada--clearly the hostess, if the glow of triumph on her face was any indication--she looked around. "Grayson," she gasped, happily; she hurried over to her brother, making good use of her three-inch heels to pull him down so she could kiss him on the cheek. Elke pulled a flower out of her hair and, quite cheerfully, put it in the buttonhole of his jacket. "There you are," she said happily. "Now you look perfect." And she hugged him, not bothering to ask what he was doing there. Her brother deserved all the happiness and fun he could get.

Damian was an observant fellow and he noticed Alessa's blush straight away. Putting a friendly smile on his face he carefully made his way through the gathering mass of people until he was standing next to her. He inclined his head towards her, speaking softly, almost like a whisper. "Alessa is a beautiful name." His gray eyes glanced towards the dance floor then back to the girl in the pretty dress, he'd offer to get her a drink first. "Did you want anything to drink? I'd be happy to get you something." There was a twinkle in his eye as he looked down at her.

"Thank you, Dale, but I should be fine without anything to drink just yet." she assured the other female, attention going back to the door.

Too late the guest book was set out for anyone interested to sign their names. And people were coming in more and more quickly, the personalized greetings quickly fading into hellos and quick greetings. Not a single person who passed through the door was not greeted by Jada, and once the book had been set out, not a single person would not be pointed towards the book.

In fact, one of the staff would make a quick round to the people who had been in the room before the book was set out in order for them all to be advised of the book's existence. All that was requested was the name and the school of each attendee, Jada would take care of getting out the Thank You notes from that point on. Also, every attendee who signed (not that they knew it at the time) would be getting a personalized invitation to her debut; she would make sure that her mother sent them out.

When she could, every female got a little bit of praise on their outfit, every nicely dressed man the same. For the most part, however, until after 8:00 P.M., she would stand at the door.

It was not 7:45. The turnout would be fantastic. She knew it!

She was bad with that flirting thing (though amazingly she did have a boyfriend at some point not too long ago, but that is a different story). Her face just turned redder; she wasn’t used to getting the attention. Was it because it was Valentine’s day, she wondered? Probably.
But she was fine with being invited by the boy in jeans and pseudo-tuxedo shirt. “Thank you! What’s your name?”
He didn’t seem completely unknown. Maybe she’d seen him at Meadowview before.
The shy smile on her blushing face widened slightly. “That’s so nice of you… I-I’d just like some water for now.”

Then she heard a more familiar voice behind her. She couldn’t help but turn her head and see who was speaking.
Visibly, Tate hadn’t said “hide me” loud enough.
“Oh! Tate! How are you?” she asked joyfully. Alas, she didn’t know her well enough to understand her embarrassment.

Franz had always been looking out for him.

It was a miracle that his roommate had been able to locate a flier to this event, but lo' and behold, Franz had given Howl the invitation to this rather foreign event. Franz had no need for it. He had a girlfriend, or something like that at least with Janice.

Despite having the invitation, he had still be quite undecided about participating until he had spoken to Marlo. Marlo Xanis would be joining the "festivities," and he had even offered Howl a ride to Fondue Haus. "You only live once" was the main argument used against him, and it was enough to convince Howl.

If there was one thing he was known for, it was being particular about how he looked at any sort of public affair. As always, he made certain to wear his favorite earrings and hair sticks, as well as change out his practically invisible nose stud for a more enchanting golden one. He was uncertain as to how formal an event this would be, and not wanting to be the gentleman who overdressed, he had decided on something classy, yet still informal enough to not come across as intimidating. He wore a crisp white button up shirt, sleeves folded just short of his elbows with a black vest over it. Howl was the sort who never wore jeans, and in turn was wearing an elegant pair of black slacks. All in all, he looked decent, even if he did look like a girl in mens casual clothing.

As the two young men entered Fondue Haus, flashing their invitations to whoever was inspecting them, Howl could not help but comment to his companion "It would seem there is a rather lovely turn out, Mr. Xanis." The teal-haired lad flashed a lovely smile to each and every face he saw, momentarily not paying true attention to the specific faces.

He couldn't help but smile as she turned redder, girls were so cute when they blushed. Unless it was a mortified, please hide me blush. Those were just awkward.

"You're very welcome, my name's Damian." Now that he was closer to her and taking a good look her face seemed to be slightly familiar. He'd probably seen her around school, he traveled in several social circles, never staying in one for very long.

He returned her smile giving a little play boy, even twirling his hand in a circle. "Your wish is my command." He winked at her and then headed to the bar to get her some water.

In their time together, neither Ladon nor Tate saw each other dressed up. There was never an occasion, and they both felt comfortable in their informal dress. This meant that Ladon never saw Tate’s figure because there was never any reason for it to be displayed. Standing still, he watched Tate step in, high-heels clacking on the polished hardwood before rising up to a green dress that spilled about her, held tight by a belt that hugged her hips, and then a top that just as snugly pushed her chest up. While he knew that Tate was a girl, this dress shoved that right into his dense head.

As she came, she grasped his shoulder, crying out that she wanted to be hidden. “Hide? You’re about twice my size.” It was preposterous she even think he could hide her lanky form. Even if he was taller, the dress would not allow it. It demanded that Tate’s figure be displayed. The rolling curves and slenderness of her neck, a few loose strands of hair coming from her hairdo to fall against her shoulders.

What sigh of relief he had in seeing her was caught in the back of his throat. “I’m so glad you’re here. I thought your mother dragged you to the other party. I would have died.” His eyes went back down to seeing her in high heels and he looked back up. “Did she have to dress you up in high heels?” He was going to get a kink in his neck by the time the night was through. Oh well, she was here and that was all that mattered. He wasn’t ready to be approaching girls on his own at parties like this, Singles Awareness day or not.

It wasn't as bad as he'd thought it was going to be, but that was mostly because people were filtering in faster than he'd expected. He was kind of glad Dani had bullied him into going early, even though he'd protested it didn't start until eight. Apparently women had some kind of sixth sense about this sort of thing; anyway, he was glad, because it would be easier to slip into a corner and pass the time quietly since he'd gotten in ahead of most people.

Still, the dance floor caught his eye, and he mulled over it. He would like to dance, and just might, if he could find anyone who was willing. Did people dance at single's awareness parties? He didn't see why not.

Then, he heard his name, and he blinked. Someone knew him? His gaze fell on his little sister, and he blanched, feeling embarrassed and relieved all at once. It was a little bit mortified to be attending the same single's event as his sister, but it was undeniable he was glad to see her. So, when she kissed his cheek, he mirrored the gesture, offering her a smile. "Hey. You look nice," he added, gesturing down the length of her.

The dress was really pretty. Kind of revealing, in his opinion, but that was probably because she was his sister.

After a beat, he caught sight of someone else he recognized, and he blinked a few times. Fallon? He hadn't seen her since Barren Pines. She looked really nice, too. Glancing between the two of them, he nodded to Elke, saying, "Be right back."

And, adjusting his tie, because the things always really bothered him, he began to make his way toward where Fallon and a pretty red-head were standing. It had been long enough since Barren Pines that he had conveniently forgotten that most of them didn't remember it.

Dale was quite comfortable at the bar, watching the different men and women fill in. Her eyes widened when she saw Howl's thin and graceful presence slip through. Hm. It would look like she wasn't the only one who often had their gender questioned.
She sat her glass down on the bar and nodded. A cosmopolitan just wasn't the same without vodka, and people-watching without alcohol just wasn't fun.

Outside, Pierrette couldn't wait anymore. She had told herself that she would wait until the clock struck eight on the dot. Well, sitting outside for ten minutes while people filled in was making her antsy, especially when she thought she saw a couple of the Zodiacs. So, she walked in. She had chosen her pearl-threaded sandals especially for the event, and decided to match it up with a surprisingly plain, ankle-length pink dress. Her hair was worn down in soft ringlets, and a couple of pearls shone here and there where she had strung them on almost-invisible thread in her hair. Simple, but sweet was her motif tonight.

And there were no bows.
Holy crap.

He sighed. Marlo sighed a lot on Valentines. It was a force of habit. Still, he was trying to to sigh so much around his friend. Searching the room, he felt a slight bit under dressed, (heck, Howl always made him feel under dressed so he didn't count). The dress slacks and formal-casual shirt with not even a tie irked him. He should have known. Like he would impress a chick now.

"Yeah, it's pretty nice, considering. I half expected a bunch of moapy sobs." he could be considered a moapy sob. "..But holding the event in a place renowned for messy eating...not my first pick but what can you do?" At least they had a coat check in.

"'Moapy Sob'...?" his companion repeated uncertainly. There were really some phrases out there which seemed so tasteless. Mentally, he brushed off the observation casually, not wanting to make an issue of it beyond the simple question.

Once he was generally situated, he glanced about to take a more careful look at the various lovely ladies present. It would seem I did a decent job in selecting a suitable outfit this evening, he mused silently. He also could not help but wonder how so many young ladies could be be single. Many looked absolutely stunning their lovely outfits.

Casually, he asked Marlo "Have you seen anything that suits your fancy, my friend?" while his own eyes still wandered the room. For a moment, they paused upon a brunette with a lovely emerald green dress. His eyes would have moved onward if it was not for the fact that the girl turned her face in just a manner that revealed the young lady's identity.

More out of surprise at how well this lady friend of his cleaned up, he couldn't help but utter her name aloud at recognizing her. "Miss Tatiana?" He was not close enough to be heard, but more than likely his friend caught the utterance. In hopes of not seeming awkward, he glanced over to Marlo and explained "I just spotted a lady friend of mine that I would love to talk to. Would you care to join me, or would you prefer to be left to your own devices?"

8:00 had finally come. Jada started up the stairs, coughing politely when she got to the top. For the benefit of whoever paid her mind, she spoke, making sure it was loud enough to carry. "Welcome to the Singles Awareness Day party. I would like to thank all of you for coming to join me, and I would like to thank the Fondue Haus for being so gracious in the loan of their establishment." she gave everyone a smile from where she stood. "Now, I am sure that you should have all been advised of the guest book now positioned at the front. I would love it if you would all sign for me. I find the form of advertisement we used for this party means that the invitations were spread to every part of town."

Her eyes crinkled at the corners as she smiled, the deep red lips curving almost coquettishly. "We have several tables up here for people to sit at. Feel free to switch the seats you will be shown to if they are unsatisfactory, I see that several of you have found your friends and I want this to be a fun intermingling experience for everyone!

"The cooks will be starting the cheese appetizer in about half an hour. We want to give those latecomers a chance to arrive. If you've never had fondue before, this will be an experience! I fully believe you will enjoy yourselves. The dance floor is open for anyone interested." she looked at the empty wooden floor. Well, not empty, people were chatting on it, but no one had danced yet. "My dance card is completely open, for anyone interested." she gave a soft laugh. "Have fun, and remember that the cheese will start in half an hour. I don't want to be too preachy tonight, so I'll just come back down now."

Ignacio found Singles' Events rather stupid.

"Hey look guys, I'm single!" "Yeah, me too!" "Me three!" "Let's sit here and wallow in our single misery."

Honestly, Ignacio didn't feel bad about being single. In fact, he had come to terms with it a long time ago. That just meant he was free to flirt with whomever he wanted, to dance with whomever he wanted, to go to restaurants with whomever he wanted... Really, it was the life! Why would Ignacio want anything else? Why had he wanted anything else?

But nevertheless, he really had nothing else to do this night. Grayson had been dragged away by Daniela in a hurry, Melody still really didn't know the full extent of Ignacio's situation so it wasn't like he could invite her over, plus she had that Azzo to deal with anyway... and those were his only friends, really. That left him to play video games with Tristen or to go to this stupid Singles' Event and try and find something interesting to do...

It was decided that he would throw on a jacket and make his way to the Singles' Event that he had picked up an invitation to at some point or another. Someone had dropped it in the hallway at Meadowview, and he had picked it up to make fun of it... he didn't realize he would be there just a day or so later handing it in at the front entrance of the Fondue Haus.

He shuffled in with hands in his pockets, glancing around at the party. Looked like, as he suspected, people were gathering in groups and wallowing about their singleness in the Valentine's season. But there was food! And people! That meant there was plenty to do! Maybe he should get into the speakers and change the elevator music that was playing...

With a devious grin full of crazy ideas, Ignacio scampered off towards the speakers... though he had no idea how he would change the music.
