Ranaru could only nod and clap her hands softly together in thanks as she looked at the spread before her, having managed to get herself over when everything was being set out. She gave a kind word of thanks to Fenta before watching her scuttle off, a chuckle on her lips. That little girl was always somewhere in motion!
Politely and slowly the carpenter started to eat what was offered, doing her best not to squeal like a little girl with the delight of it all. This was so much better than anything and everything she could make, even better then some of the stuff her mother and grandmother could provide. Of course she'd never mention that to either of them ever, but hey. She took a moment or two to swallow up what she had in her mouth, ready to answer the questions directed towards her.
"Sounds good. You guys aren't that rough on things around here so it might actually be just wear on the hinges but I'll make sure to double check the nature of the wood. We've been having odd enough weather as it is lately, or at least odd swells in doors and window panes. My Father thinks that things just haven't been built to age correctly, but we'll have to see."
She took another bite of the food, careful not to let any of it get all over her face. If she hurried and ate quickly she could get the task done faster, but then she'd have to lose the chance to savor the food. Hard choice, but she hurried along in favor of not having the older woman wait on her. With a finally swallow and sigh Ranaru dabbed at her lips with a napkin and rose to her feet, grunting slightly at the weight on her leg.
"Alight then, thank you so much for the meal. Shall we hurry on and look your door over?"

Jali nodded along absently with the carpenter talk, interested but not fully understanding. Such was the way between craftspeople. She wouldn't have expected Ranaru to understand a word she was saying if she started prattling on about spices and side dishes either. But one had to be polite about conversation, and she was old enough to be good at caring about what other people said.
When Ranaru rose, the baker passed off her work to another one of the kitchen workers, wiping her hands on her apron as she went. Dough wasn't that hard to kneed, and it was high time some of these younger girls and boys got some practice. She didn't want them all to end up like her grandson, after all.
"Whenever you're ready. Just let me know what I can do."
