Sophie felt a little odd about taking his jacket considering she was still wearing her own, but she knew this was out of the norm for him, so she kept her mouth shut. Instead, she slipped it over her shoulders and smiled.
"Why would I do that?" She frowned, momentarily at a lose. "I'm quite proud of my hair." Sophie reached up to touch the strands, noticing that they were alot shorter than normal and that puzzled her. Scuffling her boots, Sophie bent over a puddle in the sidewalk and froze. It was gray! "Oh bother that, Howl. I look like an old woman again."

Howl went over to her side. "Hm, a beautiful old woman," he observed. "We know you age well, though." He was trying to make her feel better; though he was sure the result wouldn't be pretty. "If it really is hair dye, it'll come out," he assured her. "It'll so go back to the beautiful red-gold you pride yourself so much on." He gave her one of his brightest smiles. "And you say I'm the vain one."
So maybe it wasn't the wisest choice to tease Sophie over her hair. "Anyway, you don't look old. You're just--different. Your eyes have changed too," he noted. "They're brown."

She looked back at him with a look that said 'thank you sooooo much' in a sarcastic fashion, but said nothing. "Theres a difference between you and I. Your vain, I'm concerned." Sophie tucked a strand of her silver hair behind her hear, resolving herself to the color as a natural part to her new journey.
Sure enough, looking back into that same puddle, her eyes were as brown as mud. At least you look as plain as your clothes, she thought. But she had to wonder; why wasn't Ho- "Your eyes are blue."
Oh yes, sweet victories came in small packages. Sophie wasn't sure if she was going to like Gaia or not, but she'd make it out alive. Just like before.
If only Adrian's castle could move.
