My gym teachers are all fine.
Lesse, I've got a balding old guy who looks like, well a guy his age, but is in real good shape, however he's not an a*****e. I can barely keep up with most people (partially cuz I don't work out or anything, partly because I'm a little pidgeon toad so it takes me more steps to go the same distance) but I'm usually lapping everybody because they're all near-walking and that's okay.

In my gym what happens most often is all the girls, skinny and fat alike, just sort of walk along at a leasurely pace, talking to each other and examing their fingernails, which is okay now but bred great degrees of loathing for them when we where running the mile. >>

stare

anywho, thats what i did in MIDDLE SCHOOL.because we had to do those stupid little rollar derby thins,on those plastic plates with four wheels. the most i remember is it was like sliding around on your a** and knocking people off. i flat out refused, and was made to do laps for most of the semester to make up for it sweatdrop

but once i got to highschool, my PE teacher was REALLY nice. he used to coach boys baseball, but hurt his knee.so he wouldnt make us run around for hours. and we actually did Fun things! like tennis, and whiffle ball, and volleyball, and basket ball and screwing around in the weight room.

I had just seen on the news that, In Boston Texas, children are to be graded...........on their wieght. Now, I do not know about you but..........................AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!!! What is so wrong with being a little overweight? You can't grade someone on their physical appearence- it's who they are. Next, they'll be giving grades on your hair color, or you height. Someone, please tell me this isn't true. sad
Thats ******** retarded. These children are going to grow up thinking that there is something wrong with them, and they'll end up hating themselves. *fumes*

i've already reached that point....i do hate myself....i guess i'm 55pounds over weight.....i started cutting myself and my weight "problem" had a part in it....i'm getting to the point rather slowly but still that my weight might not be a bad thing....

My P.E. teacher was pretty cool.. I actually like P.E.... which is why I was so ticked to tear the ligament in my left knee in a 4-wheeler accidnet... *pouts* not fair... I like playing sports, and I kinda like weightlifting too crying I'm not in shape by any means... and it's gotten worse since my accident (last spring) I couldn't move around much so now going up and down stairs ia annoying.. crying but I'll do some exercising this summer.... work on bringing my knee back to full strength 3nodding

That's one of the most moronic ways to manage childhood obesity. ._.

Not only that, but it's clearly discriminatory--- ridiculously discriminatory. While they're at it, why don't they just start segregating elementary schools into groups by race, weight, height, hair color, eye color, etc, and causing those groups to loathe each other so that the children grow up to be bigoted hate machines? neutral

As if children didn't have enough pressure put on them, geez... stare

We are contantly being told how we should look/act/think...won't society ever let up? We have enough stress to deal with, why add more? They think they're doing something to benefit humankind but infact they're just making things more complicated...no wonder a large part of the population are taking assorted medications to relieve stress and depression *le sigh*.

I remember high school and the way kids were treated for being different, I was one of them. crying But with so much crap your already dealing with to be graded on top of it! That's discusting! xp

Hey Tess I made it here blaugh woot!! But oh my goodness, what the hell are these schools doing to our kids? Can you emagine a teacher at school telling one of your girls there over weight? What the hell are they thinking! As if we don't already know we have a little extra chub. ugh!! This is why so many of the kids these days have eating disorders. How can they think this can help? xp

EXACTLY...this method of trying to humiliate children is NOT appropriate/right. They're ovely concerned about their outward appearance instead of focusing on their self esteem/self image. How does eshaming a child for not meeting a generalized standard of 'acceptable' weight/appearance going to help matters? It WON'T, plain and simple.

I know this is off-topic, but you shouldn't hurt yourself. It never solves anything. Talking about it might help, though. If any of you need someone to talk to about anything, I am willing to hear.

Okay, back on topic. I've said all I needed to say. I still think grading people on their appearence is against the whole "freedom" thing our government was supposed to have.

What really pisses me of is they send home little notes about the kid being overweight, but they don't remove the so-sugary-it-eats-through-steel-soda vending machines or replace the lunch food consisting of compressed grease wads with food particles suspended in them and an optional peice of brocolli on the side so they can call it a full and healthy meal. stare

I think there's a god term for stuff like this. It's "direction of popular dissent." Kind of like what Hitler did with the Jews and Communists. Just a case of "let's single them out and make everyone think that something's wrong with them."

Yeah, you're right. But there is a problem with that kind of approach: there will always be fat people. 3nodding
