"It's okay! It's okay!" he cried anxiously into the phone, as if that would calm the distressed girl. "I'm not going to let the wrong person get him, I promise you that! This is why I'm having people bring over proof. Shh, it's okay!" He was better at calming animals than he was at calming humans, but at least he tried. Dan was being very convincing, though. She sounded genuinely concerned for her cat, and honestly distressed that other people would want him. The Butler and The Distracted Person had nothing on this girl.

Now, all she would need is proof. "Come over any time, my address is..." Yes, Zue was definitely-probably convulsing in his carrier. "You got that? Cause I got another call buzzing in. If you don't just give me a call back. Bye! Good luck!"

Oh god, who could be calling now? "Ah, hello?"

This was insane. No, really, it was.

Four people had called for one cat... and it hadn't even been thirty minutes yet! Yahya was dumbfounded, and the fact that it was a girl he knew calling him didn't help much. She sounded just as believable as the last one. Oh god, what was he going to do? At least only one of them could be the owner... but he hoped they at least brought proof. Yahya really would hold on to Zue if no one could bring forward proper, irrefutable evidence. "Oh, hi Elke! Well... I'd have been happy enough to give him to you. But you see... I've been experiencing a problem. The cat is fine! It's just... I have gotten a bunch of calls about him, and it's driving me batty, really. I'm having everyone come over to my place with proof that the cat belongs to them. So... if you want to claim him, you're going to have to do the same. I'm sorry, but it's the only way I can make sure he gets to the right home, especially when I've had people calling me from the minute I've walked in the door."

He was sorry, really! It was just the only way he could do things with a certainty that Zue would end up in the right home.

.... Really? Really? It had to be Elke now? Couldn't he get, like... one of the other Zodiacs, who he didn't loathe? Like... okay maybe not Hero, but say, Capricorn. She was supposed to be good at keeping secrets, right?

But no, he got Elke. And he'd have to be damned grateful for her, too; because he had no clue who else had been calling Yahya, and he didn't have a great feeling about anyone that would try and claim ownership of a cat like himself when he was fairly certain, he had no owner. If he was lucky, they were collectors; if he wasn't, they were sadists. He'd take Elke over those options, thanks kindly - but would she be able to convince Yahya that he was supposed to be hers, when he. You know. Wasn't?

After this, Zue thought, he would forge some papers for himself. Just so that this never happened again. Until then, though....

RRRRRRIP. Those catnip mice were terribly flimsy, you know, and nervous claws had a way of tearing things apart. And now there was catnip all over the carrier floor. GREAT. Though you know, it didn't really smell that bad....

Ladon didn’t know much about cats. Well, he knew absolutely nothing about cats aside from seeing them on the street and what he saw on TV. What he did know was that he was suppose to be on the lookout for cats with star shapes on their heads and was suppose to bring in any he found to the Negaverse. While he was told this, he really didn’t give it much attention. There wasn’t much he could do with a cat anyways instead of going into a sneezing fit, but it was part of his duty. This was why, when he noticed a flyer on his way home, that he just had to at least give an effort.

“Hello? I think - I think you have my friend’s cat.” He wrote down what he would say on a little notebook, and read his script slowly. “I was going to check up on him and the cat managed to run out when I opened the door. I’ve been looking for him all day.” If he really managed to get this one thing right, it would at least be something he could turn in to his superiors.
