As the mare ran from the massive stallion, her wings ruffled against her sides. The temptation to take flight tickled the back of her mind but she knew it wasn't fair for him if she decided to take flight. Maybe the silly things wanted to stretch out, but she knew better than that! It would slow her down. Why would she want that?
Her ears perked up at the sound of his voice. She felt the 'pitterpatter' of her heart pick up. It had to be the excitement. The thrill of being chased. The count had started, but with the head start, his voice did not sound too close. At least not yet. The only sounds she made was the light crunches her hooves made against the snowy ground, leaving a hoof trail for Abiron to follow. Her pace was steady, but she was unsure how far she could run before she would fatigue.

Abiron slowed himself, allowing the mare to get a little further ahead of him, then adjusted his speed to remain a safe distance away. As much as he wanted to gallop directly to her and win the game, there was no fun in that; his legs were longer, his stride covered more ground, and wasn't the first rule of tag that it had to be fun?
A flash of white...
He shook the dream from his head again, too focused on the task at hand to pay it any more thought. His heart beat in his throat, but he wasn't anywhere near tired; the stallion had spent countless days and nights moving along at the same brisk pace. He could chase after the mare all day and night, to the ends of the earth and back, if he had to.
Abiron laughed, a booming sound from deep within his chest that drowned out the sound of their hooves crashing against the snow. He hadn't laughed so freely in... ever.
"You're lucky I don't have wings, pretty mare," he teased, launching himself into the air like a playful foal and kicking his hind legs out behind him. "I would have caught up to you by now!"
