She was looking over the buck so intently that when he spoke, she gave a bit of a start, but she politely turned her eyes up to his and listened to what he had to say. Her immediate response was a soft bout of giggles. Her eyes squeezed shut for a moment, and she nodded happily. "It does kind of look like I'm crying fireflies, doesn't it?" Where this laughter and sudden giddiness has come from, she isn't quite sure, but she's not about to start arguing, as she feels younger than she had in a long time!
She merely added, "Well, you dear Swamp Song, are very handsome. You must exercise all the time! With such sculpted muscles, you must have the does lining up to preen before you!" She could just imagine a line of does fluttering their eyes, batting their lashes and posing before him, vying for his attention.

Swamp Song nods at her remark about crying fireflies. At her last question, he sighs. "No, well that is, they might.. If I wasn't such a coward. I stay hidden most of the time, only venturing out when my body tells me I need to." Scooping up his last mushroom he starts to chew, feeling more relaxed then he ever had. Despite the fact that he is outside his den, fully exposed.
Somewhere, deep in the back of his mind, Swamp Song ponders this tidbit. Knowing full well it is not like himself to be out here like this. Exposed to any predator that may come along, and yet, still be fully at ease. While these thoughts are trying to worm their way into the front of his mind, Swamp Song notices his vision blurring slightly. Just at the edges, like it does on really cold mornings. He blinks, and that voice in the back of his mind starts to panic when Swamp Song feels like his reactions are delayed. That voice, however, is completely ignored. After all, he does feel relaxed, comfortable, safe even. Why not enjoy this now, when he's outside, instead of inside?

The doe's own vision began to blur, and her motions seemed to happen a few seconds before she could see them happen, a lag of some sort between her senses. But she didn't notice it for longer than a few moments, as there were much more interesting things to focus on... say for example... the strapping buck before her... that somehow seemed to be looming closer and closer to her, and she wasn't about to argue!
In truth, the doe was the one that was leaning in closer and closer to the buck, semi-conciously wanting to be as near him as she could, wanting to be warmed by his safe frame, wanting to nuzzle him... and that was exactly what her outstretched muzzle ended up doing.

It's getting hard to sit straight. Swamp Song thinks to himself, and wonders for a fleeting moment if Life-Pulse is having the same issue. Only partially aware that he's following her lead, Swamp Song leans closer to her. A jolt of warmth as they make contact, followed by a mumbled bit of nonsense. Completely accurate, considering it's nothing but jibberish running through his brain. No matter, nuzzles feel good after all. A burst of drug induced courage has Swamp Song lifting his head to gently nibble on Life-Pulse's ear. "Want to find a more private spot?" He asks in a mumbled whisper, though he can only be sure that 'find' and 'private' were intelligible.

Her own heart flutters for a second at their first contact. Warmness floated through her body, and old sensation that she found herself liking less and less, now that most of her heart belonged to another. But she shoved even these thoughts aside now as the mushrooms took hold of her mind completely. Melting completely when the buck nibbles on her ear, she nods along and mumbles her own response almost inaudibly, "That'd.... That'd... be...." Giving up on trying to string words together, she instead utters, "Uh.. huh..." and pushed her side up against his, using him to help her stand up as much as she could possibly be helping him stand.
It was entirely possible that she would wake up in the morning, with the night having passed in a blurry haze, but she would cherish the memory nonetheless, along with the newest brood that was sure to come.

After helping each other stand, Swamp Song leads Life-Pulse off to his den. By this time the mushrooms effects are so spread there's only the tiniest bit of his mind telling him strangers in his home aren't good. A part that he ignores altogether. Reaching the den entrance, Swamp Song steps aside, letting Life-Pulse in first, following behind her without his usual backwards glance.
