My favorite we've done (I'm not in marching band, just concert band, but it was still themed) was Old Rock/Pop. We did a song that was a mash-up of 3 Beatles songs, Louie Louie, We Will Rock You, and finished up with Funky Town.
It was a three school concert, then we had just our school. Louie Louie had a Trumpet solo part but none of our trumpets wanted to do it, so I got to play it (flute) with my friend Kaitlyn (clarinet). It sounded awesome.

My favorite concert piece would definitely have to be Rikudim, although I've never had the chance to play it /:
The best concert piece I've ever played though, would be Inferno from the Divine Comedy. Or Metroplex.
Yeah, Metroplex. smile
With the Old Rock/Pop them we also played 25 or 6 to 4.
Another one I liked was Veterans Day Patriotic. We started with the Star Spangled Banner, played a mash-up (we always play mash-ups) of 3 patriotic songs including: Anchor's Away, America the Beautiful, and Yankee Doodle. Then we played a song called New Orleans Jubilee which had When the Saints go Marching In and a hymn like song. Then we finished with the Star Spangled Banner but this time the audience had to salute the flag and sing. They had trouble singing because we kinda messed up. :/
We do all these songs, and I'm only in a middle school band. I'm not even in high school yet. I really like our BD he's really nice and very helpful. We even have 4th graders playing these concerts, which just proves how well our BD teaches. smile
That's awesome! The pieces only get better the older you get. And I've moved a couple times, and tried for all state bands and stuff, and I've never had a band director I didn't like! ^^ I hope you like your high school director as much as the one you have now, and just beware of the woodwind runs to come in high school wink
