I have done some "testing" and it appears that you need to be logged back in 24 hours after you log out last or otherwise the fish stop glowing, what they do at the 24 hour mark is if the analyzer says fish are going to glow they will glow and people are able to grab them, but after that glow is over, they won't glow again until you log onto that account, you don't even need to access your tank and the glow cycle starts again.
That is interesting. Have you tested it far enough to know they stop glowing completely? Perhaps you just miss the next glow and then it glows less often.
The reason I suggest this is I know someone with some mules who says they have not touched in months but they still glow. Now, that person did not tell me they don't log in to those mules so that does not invalidate what you are saying.
I kind of wish Gaia would say what the 'rules' are instead of making it so you just have to figure everything out. Especially since they also change things without saying and then you have to figure it out again.
Yes, they stop glowing completely, I was using the Aquarium Analyzer made by Absol to watch what happened when I hadn't logged on in over 24 hours. The site said that there would be a glow, and it happened, but after that none of my fish would glow, I watched the analyzer for quite some time after that and none of the fish were going to glow, so hence my conclusion, you need to log on at least once every 24 hours
