As soon as the rant began, Alex scooted in his seat away from her as much as possible, feeling horribly out of place. Just what the hell did he get himself into, and why back here of all places? He didn't mind the hospital itself, but the waiting room in Emergency...

He ignored the arguing pair and looked around, avoiding the curious stares of those looking for anything to distract them from the what if's that plagued them. Bare white walls, scuffed dirty white floors... the magazines on the coffee tables looked pitiful and dull, as if the sheets of paper knew that their bright colors did little to lighten up the tense room. Alex figured they were probably flipped through on a daily basis -- a nervous, subconscious action to calm someone down.

When the fighting calmed, Alex let out a slow sigh of relief. He turned to the others nearby, running a hand through his head. "He doesn't want to get checked out, not yet," Alex said, nodding towards the doctor and where Z's mother was.

"He wants to see Z. Badly. He wouldn't let me call an ambulance for him either, and we walked a pretty long way's. I don't know what's happened to him either, but what do you think our chances of getting past them and finding Z? I mean, since he's in emergency, there aren't private rooms unless you can bribe a doctor really since it's easier to walk in a bigger room than a smaller one, so depending on when he's been brought in I'd bet that he's still in this ward somewhere. But getting there without getting caught's going to be a problem, and I honestly don't think we can make it unless we, er, follow them, wait 'til they leave and then get Z in, but hiding out here looks to be pretty difficult y'know?"

Any and all fight (and -color-) drained from Demy's expression the moment that last threat rolled off the woman's tongue. Z? She'd...take Z away? And he'd never see him again?

Suddenly he felt very dizzy. On the verge of fainting even. Z...she'd take Z away from him. She could, afterall she was his -mother-. Mouthing off had probably not been the best idea, but someone had to stand up for Z! And....well himself of course, but he mostly wanted to get it through her thick head he wasn't the bad guy here and he just wanted to see his best friend.

But that was on the verge of being yanked away. Permanently. If Khalla was serious about pulling his arms away from his body she'd find no resistance. Demy looked tired, so very tired. Everything around was a blur. Not even Alex's plan earned much of a reaction (though usually, Demy would have thought such an espionage mission pretty damn awesome).

"S-she's...g-gonna take away Z?"
No explanation, no mention of his injuries or just how they'd ended up here. Just a teen still anxious as hell to see his friend and willing to sacrifice anything to do so. Including his own health.

Zac's mother pivoted away from the doctor rather suddenly still looking grey and said in a taught but trying to be normal tone.
"I need to call my husband." She marched towards the doors again, perhaps heading for the outside and the Doctor stood a moment more shaking his head and looking a little irritated.

Foramen had made it back to the site of the attack in time to see an ambulance speeding away. Jumping across rooftops with a broken arm was not an enjoyable experience - Kirin didn't recommend it. Reaching the hospital, he reverted back to civilian form while out of site and wandered through the Emergency doors. When he approached the desk to ask after Zac, he was instead taken down to x-rays. Must have been a slow day in the hospital - Kirin had been under the impression that sort of thing normally took several hours of waiting.

One light fibreglass cast later (accelerated senshi healing had downgraded 'full break' into 'serious fracture'), Kirin was finally free to hunt down his... friend? ... boyfriend? ... his something.

Kirin adjusted the long sleeves of his sweater as he walked down to the corridor to the emergency waiting area (usually for relatives only, but Kirin had pulled a very decent 'bereaved girlfriend' act, if he did say so himself). The cast was hidden under the folds, unless someone was looking very closely. The padded laptop bag he never went anywhere without was slung over one shoulder. Giving the strap a tug, just to give his hands something to do, Kirin rounded the corner and came face to face with a group of teens.

He paused. Crap, no way he could just barge past to see if any of the recovered starseeds would 'fit' Zac. "Are... you all here for Zac?" he asked.

He was taken back by the number of them, having only expected family at the most, or no one at all considering it would take a while for family to be called and arrive. Besides, the way Zac acted around others, and his hobbies and the way he spoke of himself... Kirin had thought Zac was mostly friendless, like Kirin himself. Either Zac had been playing things down, or he had more friends than he'd thought.

"I know he wants to see Z," she said sadly, turning for one of the first times to look at the quiet boy that had been tucked away in the hospital chair during most of the argument with Zac's mother. "But hurting himself doesn't get him to Z any faster, especially if he makes himself worse getting worked up." Khalla seemed to have fallen back into mother hen mode now that she had others with her and a purpose to work towards. Alone she was a mess, but in a group with others worse off than herself she could at least pretend she had it together.

Khalla once again turned her attention on Z, using what she hoped was a calming voice to address him. "No, Demy, she's not going to take him away," she was quiet, one hand reached out towards him like she might try to calm him with a shoulder pat or an arm stroke, but she realized at the last second that she had no idea what part of him might actually be injured. "We won't let her take Z anywhere. I'm sure Z won't let her take him anywhere." She was being optimistic about Z's recovery, but at this point she refused to be a downer in front of others.

"What?" all at once her calm frazzled and her eyes widened as Alex's plan hit home, breaking through her attempts to reassure Demy. "You want to do what?" she repeated again, this time in a hushed but still hurried voice as she turned abruptly to face him. She began shaking her head, her face showing just how appalled she was by the idea. "Oh, no, no, what kind of person goes sneaking around inside of a hospital? There are rules." She had never broken into any place she wasn't supposed to be before in her life. She followed rules and respected procedures. She shook her head again, pointing a finger towards the doors of the hospital wing. "Besides, there's really only one way in and out and we'd be seen. It's.. just. No, we can't do that.." she trailed off at the end of her sentence as if she might say his name, then realized she had absolutely no idea what it was.

As the new girl rounded the corner and spoke up, Khalla jumped a little and turned to look at her. She looked as if she had been caught doing something she shouldn't be, and her face certainly looked startled enough for someone up to no good. Simply put, even talking about sneaking into the emergency ward had her paranoid. She straightened up from where she had leaned a little over and towards Alex (she wasn't being suspicious, not at all!) and crossed her arms behind her back. "I, uh, yes. We're waiting to hear news," her gaze slid towards his mother as she exited the room, a frown on her lips. "It's a bit difficult, though." Even if she wasn't up for sneaking into the emergency ward, she was definitely considering cornering that doctor and forcing him to spill the beans - it showed in the way her eyes lingered on him.

Alex shook his head at Khalla. "On the contrary, hurting him would get us past those doors but most likely land Demy in a place that's... Well, a place that's not exactly next to or near Z y'know? They don't really like people wandering around back there in the emergency area, so it's not like we can get back there, ditch Demy, find Z, and return to Demy to well y'know." He waved his hands, at a loss for words. "I mean, it'd work but probably in a way that neither of you want to have happen..."

The boy followed the direction of Khalla's pointing finger, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he stared at the doors. Those were going to be tricky... Could they wheel Demy past? No, they'd see them try to get Demy into it, and already the game would be up before it even started. They needed style, flair, something to happen in order to advance. If only there was a cutsc-

Speak of the devil.

He looked at Kirin, focusing on the other person before turning his attention back to the door, thinking. Okay, so there was step one of an event. What would Solid Snake do? Aside from hiding under a cardboard box and sneaking in, that is.

There was a girl here to see Z.

Green eyes (duller than usual) had quickly turned to eye the newcomer. Zac, she had come to see Zac...who the -hell- was she? Z didn't have that many friends, at least to Demy's knowledge. He knew most of them, or...at least he thought he did.

This was not one he knew.

And this was a girl.

Silent, Demy had carefully stepped back. If anyone was watching it could have looked, for a brief moment, like he was attempting to bolt. Out of the hospital? Not likely, more like trying to bolt back to wherever Z was behind held. He didn't though, instead of leaned heavily against the nearest wall, and slowly slid down to the floor. Once the long trek to the floor was finished, he pulled his knees to his chest (no matter how much it stretched and hurt), shoved his face into his hands....

And bawled.

This....this was just too much. This whole day was too much. Fighting a senshi, the pain, Z being injured, the mother figure going off on him, the entire idea that Z could be gone forever, and now some mysterious girl shows up to see him? Rational thought would have led to maybe this was family of some sort, maybe another cousin like Beth...

Demy was not rational, he rarely ever was and this was no exception. No, mysterious girl showing up to see Z...what if it was a girlfriend? Girlfriend. Clearly that was what it was, huh? Had Z been holding out on him? If it was true...well it'd break his little corrupted heart.

From the sound of his bawling it already had.

The long faces were only to expected, as were the questioning stares. The blond boy bursting into tears, however, was not.

Kirin took a half step backwards, confusion flitting briefly over his face. The blonde girl had just said they were waiting for news, but this boy was bawling like they'd already been told the worst.

"They haven't said anything?" he directed his question at the blonde girl and the tanned boy. Clearly, the crying kid wasn't going to be much help here. "No doctors have come by at all?"

Did that mean Zac was still in surgery? Just how bad was it? And how much worse would it get if Kirin couldn't get in to see Zac and find out if one of these starseeds was his? Hands tightened on the strap of his bag, clenching and releasing as Kirin tried to think past the worry (and panic) to decide what he could possibly do now.

Khalla turned a long, hard and calculating look on this new boy she had never met. His suggestion was something she never would have thought of on her own (Khalla was a good girl, she didn't go around deciding how to break rules) and despite how appalling it might have once been to her, she had to admit that it might actually be their only choice at the moment. Before she could say anything more to him though, be it criticism or suggestions, the taller boy at her side broke down into hysteria.

"What, Demy, don't," a slur of words bubbled out of her lips as she turned quickly to stare down at him just as he was sliding to the floor. She dipped down quickly at his side and reached out one hesitant hand to lay on his shoulder, the other reaching out to stroke through his hair. She would have hugged him, but he was hurt, and she really didn't know how he would react to having someone inside his personal bubble. "Shh, we'll figure this out, okay?"

She could deal with problems, she was good at helping. But this? This was too much all at once. She was suppressing her own fears to help others, but it was a destructive path if there ever was one. She needed her own support - she needed her grandmother, or Gabbie, or.. Z. Z had always helped.

She quickly suppressed that thought and let the new girl distract her with her questions. "They came to speak with Z's mother, but she's a bit," Khalla's words trailed off as her face became stony. She was having a difficult time actually insulting the woman, since that wasn't Khalla's style, but it was hard to find an appropriate term all the same. "She's a bit difficult," she finally settled on the word and then motioned with a hand towards the door. "She just left, mumbling something about speaking with Z's father." Her last sentence grew quiet as she spoke, hinting that she thought that was a bad sign. "The doctor has been though, we just aren't being told what's happening. For various reasons." She glanced back at Demy with a frown, trying to hide her feelings of pity, but doing a poor job of it.

His mother finally did relent - marching back still looking ashen but a bit better, if even hopeful perhaps that her husband was on his way.
She gave bare bone details, he'd had 'a surgery', he had a concussion, a fractured leg and a dislocated shoulder...
And he wasn't awake, they didn't know when he'd wake up, but they were 'hopeful' that it wasn't too serious, but they would have to wait to tell.
More than that she could not, or would not say.
Never once while speaking did she look at Dem, not till she was walking away, and her look was still pure hate.
