Man I love these two bands but I think Metallica is better overall cuz you can say all of their songs kick a**, I enjoy almost every song in all of their albums, theys heavy and get you in it, but Megadeth even though i love them I get borred sometimes because I like heavy stuff and metallica i s more heavier. When it comes to solos I think they are both awsome, and same with riffs but overall Metallica rules for me.

Hey what do you guys think of EXODUS? another kick a** band man awsome solos and killer riffs.

Sorry to sound like a jackass but Metallica went to s**t with the Black album cause
1. Didnt even sound like somethin Metallica wouldve made if you heard their first 3 or 4 albums.
2. Alot of the songs got annoyin after a while like Enter Sandman, Sad But True, Holier than Thou and Nothing Else Matters. Those songs got annoying and Wherever I May Roam is gettin there to considering I hear it so much on almost every rock and metal station.
Metallica went s**t deep with Load and Reload but St. a**s (yea I know I butchered the name and thats because the album sucked royally) took the cake man. Whoever liked that album never freakin heard metallicas old stuff and the same with load and reload.
As I said Megadeth never did what Metallica did after a while with you know ... makin albums suck royally after Justice For All (Yea the Black Album didnt have that many good songs either and it was their downfall album).
Anyway if you like all their albums then thats your opinion but I think your wrong when you say they are heavy. Does "Saaaaiiiiinnnnnntttttt Aaaaannnnnggggeerrrr round my neck" sound heavy? I hope not in most peoples eyes.

Exodus is good but this isnt a topic about them.

nah man im a true metallica fan, I stick with them even if they never played metal again, I like all of their music, and c'mon when you're open minded you like alot of stuff and the different styles metallica has been playing since black album to here are good for the variety, I mean, I love metal but i think playing all types of music is awsome not just stuck in one thing and thats it, me personaly I would love to play anything on guitar from blues to latin to metal to punk and etc, and just get the feeling of the music not just headbang all the time. as long as you improve as a guitarist thats what matters. And St. Anger, the whole cd is pretty heavy in my opinion, I respect your opinion, and i know we are all different people with different tastes.

and as for exodus i was just pointing out another great band that sounds quite alike those two.
Ahem, I think he means new metallica sucks compared to old stuff.

i know he means that, everybody hates them now, people can't grow up of something.

But c'mon man, I don't mean to be a p***k, but he has (a) very good point(s). If you take some stuff off Reload and St.Anger and compare them to older albums, like Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning, the difference is insanely noticeable. You don't even have to meticulously listen to the songs to think ''Jesus, what happened here!?'' The newer stuff lacks the bone-crunching riffs and driving solos. They sold-out, end of story.

I'd have to say that I prefer metallica. I'm not gonna talk about the solos right now. Megadeth songs tend to be a bit similar and uninteresting. Metallica does a much better job of coming up with interesting and kewl riffs. One is a good example of this. I agree that St. Anger sucks. However all their other albums are good. Just because they're style changed doesn't mean that the newer albums are bad.

Essentially, Megadeth became thrashier, and Metallica became more creative. So I'd say Metallica wins. Plus One pwns any Megadeth song... Although Symphony of Destruction is pretty kewl...

And now for my requisite ProgSnob comment:

Dream Theater pwns them both... XP Thank you very much.

Nah man, I love DT but almost all of their songs get borring like before half, and Metallica and Megadeth have more interesting riffs and songs you know, cuz they have a lot of skill but they have to use it right, don't get me wrong but it's just so crazy that such great player just come up with such borring songs, plus I saw the cover of Master of Puppets and Petrucci and th rest do a good job except the singer, he sucked big time, and that was disapointing. And also I don't understand that first you say that ST. Anger sucks, but then you say that because they changed the style it doesnt mean that they suck, so I thinking that's contradicting. Nothing personal, I'm just stating my views.

I think I'm one of the only people who doesn't find long Dream Theater songs boring. But that's beside the point.

What I said is not contradictory. St. Anger doesn't suck because Metallica changed their style. Load and Reload were still relatively good and Metallica had changed by then. Same with the Black Album too. These albums had Metallica's old cool stuff but in a newer different way.

St. Anger was just a bad album. It wasn't bad because it was different from Metallica's old style, it was bad in its own right. The riffs and progressions were bad. The tone sucked and the singing was really off. That's why St. Anger is bad. If Metallica went out and made a decent Nu Metal album it would be okay because it was well done. However if they went and tried to make a new thrash album but it was very cliche and the riffs were lame then that album would suck.
[End Rant]
