Kiba turned to look at Nozomi, who seemed a bit embarrassed about something. Was it his earlier comment about him being beautiful and his voice supposedly matching? Kiba had only said that to make the kid feel better. Sure, the kid was cute. But Kiba just wasn't into guys, was he? Yeah, he probably wasn't.

"Hey, wanna go out for a walk or something? Check out the city?" Kiba asked, lightening the mood as he ruffled Nozomi's hair again. "There's an ice skating rink, an arcade down the block, a pizza parlor... I'm not so sure that I can take you outside or whatever, but I think it'll be healthy for you." Kiba laughed.

Nozomi immediately brightened when he heard what Kiba said next. Really? We can actually leave this hospital? he wrote, excited. He was very eager to see the outside world. Mother had tried to arrange a time where they would leave the hospital for a time, but she was unbearably busy and never had the chance. It was too late now.

There was, however, another way, but it was impossible up until now. A hospital volunteer in charge of him would have to be willing to accompany him while outside the hospital. Unfortunately, because every volunteer before Kiba left only a few seconds after seeing him, the rule was pretty much a chain.

"Sure, I can't see why not." Kiba smiled, placing his glasses back behind his head. "I'll go ask somebody. I'm sure they won't say no." He stood up, walking towards the door. "I'll be right back, don't worry." He smiled over his shoulder before he left, closing the door lightly behind him.

As he made his way down the hallway, Kiba couldn't help but think about the young blonde back in the room. Such a sad looking kid, probably hasn't ever been outside in his life. He was so pale it was like... unhealthy! Oh well, that would change pretty soon.

As soon as Kiba left, Nozomi couldn't help feeling once more alone. He didn't really understand why, but the volunteer's presence made things more lively. Of course, he would return soon, no doubt about that, but what can Nozomi do in the meantime? Just sit and stare out the window as always.

Though as strange as it was, the loneliness was starting to become unbearable. How was it that he had to deal with it all this time since Mother had died, but now he can no longer put it aside? Maybe it's because finally someone who was nice to him besides Mother appeared in his life.

Kiba skipped back down the hallway towards Nozomi's room. The boss said that it was okay as long as he returned before three, and he didn't lose the young blonde. Well, she didn't have to worry about that. Kiba wasn't going to let Nozomi out of his sight for a minute.

"Heeeeey~ Good news! We're going out~" Kiba called into the room, smiling brightly. Did the room just light-up a bit? Wow... brushing your teeth really did work miracles sometimes. (Just kidding)

As soon as he heard Kiba's voice, and the news he brought, Nozomi brightened up, looked away from the window, grabbed his pen and pad of paper, and got off the bed. He was now quite excited, since he was going to explore the outside world for the first time. In fact, he probably looked like a child who had received presents.

As excited as he was to leave, Nozomi knew there were some catches. A curfew, of course, and something else. Kiba should know, since he had talked with the head of the hospital about it.

"Okay! While we're out having fun, there are a few rules that you must keep in mind so that we can do this again and I don't get fired." Kiba explained as they walked toward the exit of the hospital. "One, no running off. If I lose you, I'm dead. Two, we're back here by three. Any later, and we'll never be allowed to leave again. And three, don't talk- Don't stare or write to strangers. They may be stalkers. Got it?" Kiba asked, brushing past another volunteer. The other looked at him like he was insane, but Kiba just ignored him.

Nozomi immediately nodded in absolute agreement. There was no way he would forget those rules. He definitely wanted to go outside multiple times, and of course he wasn't going to communicate or stare at strangers. Mother had told him once that not everyone could be trusted, so that would count for a lot of the people of the outside world.

So, where are we going? Nozomi wrote down, quite curious.

Kiba looked around the city, eyeing certain areas. There was an ice rink down a few blocks, an arcade, a pizza parlor, and a theatre all within the same vicinity. "I'm not sure. Do you want to have fun, or do you want to eat?" Kiba asked, looking up and down the street again. He could feel the heated glares from the volunteers back inside the hospital. What was their problem?

"There's pizza down the street, an ice rink, an arcade, and a theatre. None of the new movies are really great though." The green haired man sighed. "We could even go to my place, although that's sort of... strange that the first thing you do is go to somebody else's house."

Nozomi thought for a moment. He wasn't hungry at the moment, so there won't be any point going to some pizza place. The ice rink sounded a little interesting, but what if people condescend him because he was mute? In an arcade... he wasn't sure what was there, but Mother had once told him that it was very loud, so nobody would notice.

I'm not sure, he wrote, unable to decide. What do you recommend? After all, Kiba should know, since he has been in this outside world, so there should hardly be a doubt that he should know a lot more than Nozomi had heard from Mother.

"Hm... well..." Kiba looked around, shrugging his shoulders. "I actually don't get out much. No girlfriend, living by myself... I'm sort of a loner tech. geek." He confessed, feeling sweat coat his forehead. "The only place that I can recommend whole-heartedly would be my apartment, but I'm not really sure you'd like to see that." The green haired young man sighed.

Nozomi's eyes brightened when he heard that they could go to where Kiba lived. I guess we can go to your apartment, he wrote. If you recommend that, then it's fine. It was probably strange for Kiba to hear that, but there was no other place that Nozomi could choose to go to.

"Hmph... stalker." Kiba chuckled lightly at the joke, ruffling Nozomi's hair before he started their walk towards the Kyuuketsuki's apartment. It wasn't a long walk. Tehre blocks down, second building, thirteenth floor, room number 666. Everybody would have said that he was probably the unluckiest guy in the world, but Kiba just ignored that. Who cares if his childhood wasn't exactly perfect? It was fine.

"Well... this is where I live." Kiba muttered, opening the door with his key. There wasn't much furniture except for a small, low table, a small television, a shibikyuu*, and a kitchen near the back with essential appliances. "It's not much, I must admit." Kiba confessed.

Nozomi hadn't been sure about what Kiba meant by 'stalker', but he probably didn't really mean it. As they walked to the apartment, the mute boy constantly turned his head to see the trees and passing buildings, committing them to memory.

As soon as they had entered the apartment, Nozomi stared in awe at the place. Sure, Kiba had said it wasn't much, but for Nozomi, it was amazing compared to the hospital room. It wasn't as crowded with furniture and it wasn't it wasn't as boring-looking. No wonder temporary hospital patients didn't like staying in the hospital.

Kiba watched the younger boy's face brighten as Nozomi looked around his place. "I take it that you like it?" Kiba asked, smiling as he did so. "I mean, hospitals sure are boring places. I was there once for three months. Almost sliced my wrist open with my teeth... But that's for a different story time." Kiba smiled as he went over to his kitchen and opened up the fridge.
