As her cold fingers pressed against his temple, the new captain instinctively grit his jaw, resisting the urge to smash her hand away and flee into the shadows, put some goddamn distance between them.

Then, slowly, her image would fade, and Obsidian stood there for several moments as though paralyzed on the spot before his new armor vanished. In civilian clothes now, the man limped slowly back to his apartment for the night, her mocking words still ringing in his head.
