That part really changed the story for me. And the stash of wrappers made me cry! That he would keep them, because it was the only thing his parents gave him now...
Just another reason why JKR is in the top echelon of writers. She didn't have to include that little detail, but she did, to make the story more real.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. But the thing that made me cry the worst was the thought of his mother's face when she looks at him without even noticing that he's hers. crying
