I wish so bad that I had a PS3, so I could play this game. crying
It looks like it's going to be amazing. Then again, like ZackCloud said, if it ends up being similar to FFXII, which it somehow looks like it might be (I can't place why, exactly), then it would really disappoint me.

i liked 12 so be good 4 me either way. i heard its supposed to be closer to x
Well, the main character isn't a whiny, angsty dude with daddy issues, so that's already better than X.
Story wise, people are comparing it to FFVII.
Gameplay, honestly, looks more like Chrono Trigger to me. You can see the enemies on screen, but when the battle starts, it's still turn based ATB, like the good ol' Final Fantasy games. So that's definitely a good thing.
Let's just hope there's gonna be a world map. Probably won't be, but that's not a deal breaker for me.

Well, if it is like X, then I'd probably like it pretty well, since I absolutely adored X, and it's whiny, angsty dude with daddy issues for a main character.
But either way, I'll certainly give it a try if I ever get a PS3. It looks really beautiful, at least.

Well, I've seen the demo, and the battle system is very different from X. The battle system is back to being Active Time, but there's different types of attacks you can do at different times, so if you're willing to wait longer, you can charge the bar more and deliver stronger attacks. Stuff like that. Also, the characters move all over the place, so after the character attacks the enemy, they don't just reset back to their normal formation position.

o sounds neat. but i read some where that theres goingb to be something like the sphere grid?

Oh, well, that's not really a battle mechanic as much as a level up mechanic. And maybe, I haven't read too much into that. But still, if that's all, then this game isn't exactly "Just like FFX" is it? I mean, it seems to be borrowing different aspects from various games.
What I think is cool is that the characters don't just go back to their normal positions, so like, if a character does an attack and ends up close to one enemy but away from another enemy, that farther enemy might be out of that character's magic range. The magic system actually seems to be a bit more like in Parasite Eve 2, where, say, you wanna cast Fire to multiple enemies, it actually has a certain area of effect relative to your character. So if the enemy is outside of that area of effect, that enemy won't be touched by the magic, but every enemy that's within that area will get hurt. I think that's pretty cool.

Well, since I didn't really like FFX, and after that Kingdom Hearts came along and X2, and frankly, I think the first half of 200X was terrible for RPGs. The only really good RPGs I could think of that came out between the year 2000 and 2005 is Shadow Hearts 1 and 2. So aside from that, I didn't really play any RPGs during the first half of the decade, and it wasn't until early 2009 that I started getting back into jRPGs, thanks to Persona 3.

what is wrong with kingdom hearts?

I just don't like the concept. Disney's cool, FF's cool. But you put them together, and they both become uncool. It's like taking chocolate bars and putting them on pizza.

That, plus I hated the fact that Square decided that instead of having turn based combat, they'll make it a hack and slash type RPG. That's also why I didn't bother with FFXII.

no offense but i cant take your opinion seriouslly if you dident even try them. xp

I didn't try FFXII, son I can't comment on it. I know I wouldn't like the gameplay. I've seen the first part of it played by my friend, and it seemed ALRIGHT, gameplay wise, but not what I'm looking for in a JRPG. I can't really comment on the story, maybe it is good. I heard some good things. But I'm not gonna grind through a hack and slash RPG just for the story. It's also why I didn't bother beating Tales of Symphonia.
But I did try Kingdom Hearts, I got to the part where you first meed Cid, and I was like, "This game's stupid. I'm not gonna keep playing."
Why should I? I mean, I'm not one of those people who's all like, "Yeah, this game sucks. But I'm gonna beat it just so that I know everything about it, and then have more stuff to b***h about." I hate those kinds of people.
Yeah, there's probably a lot about KH I don't know, but I do know this much, I don't like the concept, I don't like the gameplay style, and the main character is a little kid who uses a key for a weapon. And I hate little kids in video games in general, so I'm not gonna bother grinding through a jRPG I don't like.

you dident even get to the first world... but it kinda sounds like you went into it with a opinion already formed.

Well, I don't like the concept, so how can I not? I know I'm gonna be playing a game about some kid who looks like Tai from Digimon, wielding a giant key as a weapon. It doesn't sound interesting. Combining Final Fantasy and Walt Disney characters, it doesn't sound interesting. It's one or the other for me.
And then I tried the gameplay and I didn't like it either. I like my Japanese RPGs with turn-based combat, not real time hack and slash.
So yeah, I had my opinion formed based on what I already knew. But I did give it a try, and it didn't draw me in at all.
Pretty much every single game I loved, or even liked, as soon as I started playing it, I'm drawn in within five minutes of it. Something about it makes me say, "I wanna see what happens next" or "This is fun, I wanna keep playing it."
Like, Final Fantasy X drew me in at first, it wasn't until I got past midpoint of the storyline that I got so bored with it that I didn't even bother finishing it. But it started out nice and strong. Kingdom Hearts... I mean, it was nice and pretty, as expected from Square, but... There was nothing about the characters in it that made me care what happens to the storyline.
It's no doubt targeting little kids. I mean, Final Fantasy 8 was rated T, but even from the intro cinematic, you could see that this isn't a kiddy game.
Even if Kingdom Hearts WAS rated T, if it came off as it did from the beginning, it wouldn't change my opinion that its target audience are kids, just like Final Fantasy X-2's target audience are girls.
And there's nothing wrong with that, but I fit neither of those categories, so those games are not for me.

kids yeah right hahahaha. kids could not beat kingdom hearts not even on normal mode. maybe young teens. but the only way i know a kid could do it is with lots of help....

well me once i start a game i finish it. so like i would not get half way through a game and quit. if i liked it enough to get that far id finish it. maybe take a break if i got bored but would not quit. you seem like a nice guy but maybe its just me. but i dont go into games with a opinion already formed. i give every game a chance. i do, do some research on it becuse i dont want to buy a game i wont like. but i dont judge any game offically til i have tried it my self. except for maybe WoW....
