Amitabha had awoken before the kalona, and it was fortunate that he had. He hadn't moved away swiftly initially. He paused to watch the mare sleep first, hoping that within her would grow the foundation for his future herd. Unikalona. Insane. Treacherous. Violent. But perhaps under his tutelage, they could be more. They could be sane, loyal, and protective. Train their kalona edge to be turned towards enemies of serenity.
And then he left. He walked slowly, savoring the feeling of fate within reach. Everything would occur exactly as planned. It would-
Then he heard the roar. He paused, ears flicking upwards at attention. Perhaps... it was not time for reflection. Perhaps... it was time to make a more speedy retreat. Amitabha picked up his pace. It was hard to go as fast as an unadorned soquili with his silken scarves dragging over the forest floor, but his breed lent him some swiftness. His jewelry clinked as he ran.... hopefully not loud enough to lure the kalona over in her rage.
Getting the baskets unharmed from her would be more challenging than he thought. If she didn't kill the foals first, she could very well do some damage to him...

Masquerade snarled as she circled once or twice more wings stretched out fangs barred in a snarl. She couldn't see him where ever hat F---er was hiding. Turning away with a snap of her spaded tail she flew off for the horizon back to the lands her family stalked.
Damn it, what if she was pregnant, 'just have to abandon the foals'. She nodded her head curtly as she made the decision in her head. If she grew fat with foal she'd find somewhere far from her lands to abandon the abominations to death.
With a snap of her tail and flick of her wings she flew off into the rising sun.
