Zen & Vertigo & the Good Doctor & Autumn & Shani

Standing at the base of the tower, none of the five knew what to expect. "Come on, guys, we can do this!" Zen said, grinning, and Autumn nodded, smiling. "Let's give them hell, you guys~" she said, and as the group slowly entered the tower, all went black.

Autumn woke up all alone, lying on the ground in a harsh spotlight. Looking around and sitting up, she said quietly, "Hello?" Then, with no response, "...Is anyone there?"

After getting no response again, she sighed and stood up. "HELLO?" she shouted, hearing her voice echo multiple times. Then, in the shadows, a figure appeared; Kage. She grinned. "Kage, darling~" she cried, running to him with open arms; but as she grew closer, she saw his face, dark with rage, and he struck her down with one hit of his arm.

"You ugly slut, stay away from me," he hissed. "But...but..." she whimpered. "I'm not ugly!"

From behind her she heard a whispering voice. "Autumn," it said. Whirling around, she saw Shani, and she grinned in relief. "Shani, I'm not ugly, right?" she whined, catching her good friend in a hug, but was shoved away and dodged a Flamethrower.

"You stay away from me," Shani hissed, showing a mirror. With a gasp, Autumn looked into it to see a hideously ugly Pokemon...why, it barely looked like a Bellossom at all! With a gasp, she began to cry, running away blindly until she hit a door. Grabbing the handle, she ran through into another room, this one blindingly white, sobbing.

&

Also waking up alone was Zen, but the Squirtle wasn't quite as melodramatic as Autumn. "Heya, where...where are you guys?" he asked, glancing around. Then he looked up. His four teammates and every single friend he'd ever hand were all standing on clear platforms, nooses around their necks.

"No, no!" he cried, jumping up and trying to reach them; but his stubby little limbs really weren't too effective. A giant counter in the air was slowly counting down from 5...4...3...2...1...and then the platforms disappeared and they were falling, falling, until the rope caught up with them.

And with a horrible crack, they were there, hanging dead from the ceiling. Zen's eyes filled up with tears, for his best friends of the other teams, his co-captain, the flirty girl he was friends with, and even the rude gangster and that creepy Sableye.

They were all dead now, of course, hanging all around him like reminders that he was a failure.

With a pained cry, the little Squirtle sat on the floor, hugging his knees to his chest, and cried...and everything went white.

&

More sensible than the others was Vertigo, and as soon as he realized that nobody was around him, he glanced up to see a giant spotlight, blindingly bright.

Blinking several times, he looked back around to see that he was on a giant stage, a huge audience of thousands surrounding him. A completely silent audience, simply waiting for him to do something.

"...Hello," he started, his voice shaky and nervous. His book of tactics was fairly useless here, and he figured it was best to be polite.

The audience spoke back.

"Hello, little Bulbasaur" they said, their voices a strange, lyrical mix of deep and high, wavery and pure, and it was not at all pleasant to listen to.

"...Does anyone know where my team is?" he tried, keeping his voice as even as he could.

"Your team does not need you," the audience said, as a single entity. "But do you know what does need you?" they asked, trailing off at the end.

"...No," Vertigo whispered. s**t. What had he gotten himself into?

"I need you," the voice said, becoming a single tone; light and cultured, and the entire crowd began to form into a single giant Pokemon.

A Venusaur.

Vertigo's eyes, huge as they come, blinked once as he scrambled away. He hated, absolutely hated, his mother, and this was really not good.

With a yell, he ran away, the giant Pokemon chasing him, her voice reminding him, "You can never run from me, Vertigo..." as he found a door, ran through it, and slammed it as he blinked in the white light.

&

A strange-looking Sableye rested in the light, before his eye opened and immediately shut. He was good with caves, yes, but this brightness was not helping.

"...Hello? Who is zhere?" he asked, looking around and squinting. But there was no response.

"Zis is very strange," the Good Doctor told himself, holding his scythe in front of him as he began to walk out of the circle of the light, soon leaving it far in the distance as he walked through blackness.

"...Viktor?" came a quiet, timid voice in the shadows.

"Who? Who is zhat?" the Good Doctor hissed, turning around wildly. He hadn't been called that in many years.

"Who do you think it is, Viktor?" the voice asked, taking a more sinister tone. "It's Rune, you b*****d." A ball of light appeared, showing a Froslass, her mouth grinning with uncountable sharp teeth.

"Rune! Rune! But...I just saw you, how could you have evolved?" the Good Doctor cried, stepping back as he saw an Ice Beam launched toward him. "Vhat are you doing?" he asked, as she came closer, grabbing his scythe without bleeding and whipping him through the air, onto the ground on her other side.'

"Rune! No! Stop!" he said, jumping up and running for his life as a Sheer Cold was launched at him, finally happening across a door which he jumped into just as the 1-hit KO move hit him. Landing unconscious on the other side, the door was slammed closed for him.

&

Shani didn't appear in a cave, but in a bright white room, where one by one, every teammate of hers entered; Autumn and Zen sobbing their eyes out; comforting them was easy, as Autumn just needed to look in a mirror to be happy, and Zen took one look at her and was relieved.

Vertigo was shaking; either he was freezing or he'd just had the fright of his life. But a bit of comforting went a long way, even though Autumn's were mostly unneeded and slightly annoying.

The Good Doctor, though, he was special. He was knocked out by a scary-cold blast of air as soon as he came through; running over, she slammed the door closed before whatever she saw moving around in there could get in. Reviving him quickly - she'd learned a few tricks on the streets, after all - she brought the team together again.

Natalia xx &&& xx Jenevieve

When Natalia and Jen approached the tower their hearts stopped. A whistle escaped the absol’s lips as her eyes followed the tower up to the very top. From the lapras, came a gulp.
“You know, Natalia.” Jen murmured leaning Natalia. “I’ve never been one for heights.”
Natalia didn’t even give a sideward glance. “Yeah, I know. But come on, you can’t not want to go in there.” She continued to stare at the magnificent building before her.
The lapras could only nod hesitantly before staring at the building as well. Then she felt a tug on her fin. When she looked, she found Natalia pulling her towards the tower.
“C’mon! Let’s move!” She ordered jerking her head towards the entrance.
Jen nodded and dragged herself along.

------

Some of the guild members had already entered by the time Natalia and Jen arrived within.
Jen gulped again when a scream penetrated her ears. "This place must be awfully frightening She mumbled, trying to stay as close to Natalia as she could.
Natalia was throwing her head at every corner trying to make sure no one could sneak up on her. With those screams they had heard, who knows what could be in here. Though on the outside one would see her as relaxed and alert, within her heart was pounding. Y’know what would calm me down? She thought to herself.
“If you’re thinking about alcohol I’m going to kill you.”
The absol turned her head towards her partner. “How did you-”
Jen pointed her flipper at Natalia’s blue fur collar. “For some reason your fur stands on end when you think about something with alcohol.” She answered, her voice a bit irritated. “I noticed this a while back.”
Natalia frowned and turned her head away, her lip curled. “Whatever, let’s hurry.” She growled and dashed ahead, forgetting her friend wasn’t fast on land.
“Wait!” screamed Jen, trying to catch up but the absol was out of sight. She looked around corners and up hallways but she couldn’t see her friend. Suddenly she saw a something white out of the corner of her eye. She turned a saw something. At first it was blurry but slowly became focused with the lapras’ eyes. It was… Natalia. Her back was turned from Jen and her body was as still as a statue. She just sat there quietly.
“Natalia!” yelled Jen dragging herself over. “You scared me! Don’t run-"
“I don’t need you.”
“Huh?” Jen began to shake and heart began thumping against her ribcage like a hammer. “What are you….”
“Be gone!” Natalia’s body turned bearing her teeth and her eyes glowed red. This wasn’t Natalia. Yes, it shared her appearance but yet it was not her. Unfotunately Jen had noticed this. Then the figure dash off into the shadows
“No! I’m sorry!” she cried trying to follow. “I just-”
“No one wants you, Jen.”
“What?! Huh?!” Jen’s breathing became quick. She threw her head side to side, trying to figure out where the echoing voice was coming from.
The sinister voice snickered. “No one needs you. You are alone now.”
“Wh-What?!” She called again, tears now welling in her eyes. “No! Please!” She bowed her head and drew her fins close to her shell. “Stop!” She pleaded, but a the laughter only grew until finally the lapras released a dolphin pitched scream. Then everything was silent. When she opened her eyes, there was a set of stairs She sniffled and drew close to the staircase. Then she smelled it. Her eyes grew wide when she recognized the distinct scent of vodka. Natalia had been here.

Natalia was had climbed the stairs a bit before Jen’s nightmare had begun. The guilt-filled absol had been praying that she would find her missing friend had already come up. Of course, she was wrong again. Her heart was beating a bit harder from when they first entered. I could really use a drink. She thought to herself. Suddenly a dim light flashed out of a corner. She stared over until feeling the sudden urge to approach. Her jaw dropped when she aze before her to see a counter with two three velvet barstools standing along it, one seat already taken. A smile spread across her face as she thanked the heavens for granting her wish and darted up to the counter.
“Hello, my good sir.” She greeted the brown-colored Mr. Mime behind the counter. “I’ll just take a shot of whiskey. I’m in a hurry. It’s quite surprising you’d find a bar in here, eh?” She chuckled and moved to grab some money out of her pouch when the Mr. Mime spoke.
“Sorry, kid.” His voice was greasy and dark. “You’re too young for a drink.”
Natalia’s jaw dropped and she blinked multiple times and an insane speed. “Sir, I assure you. I’ll get some my-”
“Fake ID?” The Mr. Mime finished for her grinning his yellow teeth.
Natalia’s lip pulled into a frown for her “ID” was certainly not fake. “Sir, I will show you it and it is-“
She was interrupted once more when the Mr. Mime reached down and picked up somewhat large circular mirror before Natalia. Natalia watched her own mouth fall open as she gazed into the eyes of herself. Ten years younger. Her eyes moved to her own body realizing she was now eleven years old. Now most would be overjoyed to see themselves ten years younger. But personally, Natalia hated being a kid. You were powerless and had no say in any matter, at least in her view. Yes, she like being older. She was powerful now. But being a child again?!
A blood curdling scream erupted from Natalia’s mouth and she dashed away from the scene and in to the dark. “No! No! No!” It wasn’t even ten seconds later when the distracted absol accidently rammed into a wall. She cursed a couple times until opening her eyes and inspected her body. It had been an illusion! She was still an adult. She sighed in relief, still a bit shaken. It then she heard a soft scream above her and she realized she was still on the second floor. Natalia looked a bit left to see a new staircase and quickly dashed up.

Jen had made it past the second floor no problem. She had tried follow the faint scent of vodka on her partner’s fur, but lost it after a few yards. She was surprised to find that the staircase not far from where she entered and climbed up. Now she was on the third floor, still separated from Natalia.
“Oh dear.” She murmured. “What if Natalia’s still on the second floor?” She turned to go back down the stairs and check but they had mysteriously disappeared. Another illusion? She quickly turned away, hoping that another one of her fears didn’t pop up again. Of course she was wrong. As she continued to pull herself along the hard floor, a fog suddenly began to rise from below. Soon all she could see was a grey mist hovering in her eyes. Jen’s took a deep breath and waved her head around hoping to fan away the fog. Suddenly the fog began to die down. Jen smiled weakly and waved her small head faster, believing she was the one causing it to disappear. But when the fog was gone, so was the room. The walls. The floor. Everything. She was just floating hundreds of feet above the ground. Jen’s eyes widen and she began to hyperventilate. She was so incredibly high up and there seemed to be no lake or ocean for miles. Then she felt the invisible floor beneath him dissolve and she began to fall.
“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!” Jen screamed as she felt her stomach leave her behind. She was one hundred feet from the ground. Fifty. Twenty-five! Ten! Jen’s eyes closed shut, but there was no crash. She didn’t feel her shell shatter or her bones break. Just a cold stone floor, like the one in the tower. She forced herself to open a single violet eye and then both. She was back in the tower, or I suppose, had scape from the illusion. Her hyperventilation became quicker than from before and she dragged herself as quickly as she could possibly manage across the room until a beautiful staircase appeared in her sight and she quickly pulled herself up.

Natalia had made it to the fourth floor much quicker than she had imagined she would. She supposed coming across a fear of her’s was just one time thing and prayed that she was right. She began walking very slowly, looking around every corner making sure there were no suspicious pokemon out there waiting to frighten her. She continued on until the next staircase came into sight. She smiled triumphantly.
“Now all I need to do is get passed one more-”
CRACK! The ceiling was suddenly eaten up by a gang of storm clouds and a bolt of lightning struck the floor inches away from Natalia. She held her breath for two seconds before looking up, only to be greeted by thunder.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!” The absol jumped into the air and ran to fight shelter as the rain came pouring down. Nothing. It also appeared that the walls of the tower had diminished and the floor went on for miles. Another bolt of lightning, followed by the booming thunder and Natalia’s scream. She’d been afraid of thunderstorms ever since she was a child. The part that scared her the most was the thunder because she felt like it was going to break through and cause the sky to fall to the earth. As she got older she learned that would bever happen, but her fear still lingered. Flash after flash, boom after boom, Natalia dashed around wildly at the lightning seemed to follow every step she made. Soon the rain began to compete with the tears beginning to fall from the absol’s eyes. Then suddenly through the blur she saw it! The staircase! With the strength that hadn’t been absorbed by fear, she leaped at the stairs and dashed up. The thunder gave a last boom as her paws reached the fifth floor.

“Jen!”
“Natalia!”
The two friends ran at each other as they came into the other one’s view. Natalia had just reached the fifth floor when she had heard Jen’s voice down one of the halls. Jen had made it past the fourth floor very quickly and had been spending the past few minutes wandering the fifth. Both were more glad to see eachother than the other imagine. Then they both began to tell their stories at once until finally they agreed to let Jen go first.
“It seems these floors were revealing our greatest fears.” Jen determined, once they both finished. .
Natalia nodded. “Now that we’re together, they can’t throw a fear at us.”
“Yes, because I doubt we have an insanely large fear incommon, right?” She tried to smile.
“Um… Yeah…” Natalia said slowly. “Let’s just try to stay together this time.”
Jen nodded and grabbed Natalia by her blue fur collar, then propped her on her shell. Then the lapras began to pull them both across the new floor. Both girls looked viciously for the next staircase.
“So… Is there something we both fear?” Jen mumbled looking at Natalia from the corner of her eye.
“Maybe…” Came Natalia’s reply.
It was then there was a large gust of wind and Natalia dug her claws into the lapras’ shell so they wouldn’t get separated. Suddenly two round obects hot out of nowhere and one hit each girl. When Natalia opened her eyes she was in a tiny spherical room. Jen was nowhere to be seen.
“Where…?” She murmured, until she realized she recognized the colors of the room and the slight transparency of the walls. She was in a pokeball.
“OH MY ARCEUS!” She screamed backing up against one of the walls only to scoot back to the center.
“Natalia?! Natalia!” Jen!
“Jen!” called Natalia pressed her face against the walls so she could see through the slight transperancy. There she could see one shadowy figure holding her ball and another shadowy figure holding another pokeball. It had to be Jen.
“Natalia?!” Shouted Jen’s voice from the other pokeball. “Are you afraid of being captured too?!”
Um. Wasn’t it kind of obvious now? “What pokemon isn’t?!” Natalia shouted back, slight irritation in her voice. What a cheap trick, using a common fear like being captured. Natalia took a deep breath and flund herself against the wall of the ball. When that didn’t work she tried again. With every slam a word slipped out of her mouth. “Let. Me. Out. Of. This. Stupid. Ball!” With the final word, the wall disappeared and the absol had flung herself out into and open space. “HOLY CRA- ” she wasn’t able to finish because her body and someone else’s flew into each other and they fell to the cold floor two feet beneath them. When Natalia opened her eyes, she realized she had hit Jen, who had unfortunately landed on her shell.
“Ow…” She mumbled pulling herself into the correct position. “Who’d think they’d use such a common fear?” Then her eyes grew wide at something behind Natalia. The absol spun around and her eyes grew wide too. The stairs!
The both darted for them and quickly made their way up.
“I wonder what’s next.” Jen mumbled once they were at the top.
Natalia shrugged and pulled herself onto Jen’s back. “Who know’s, but probably something that can only be worse.”
Jen could only nod and a brought them towards the other teams waiting for the next part of their mission.

Solaris---Devan---Rin---???---???
Solaris angrily trotted up to the two humans chattering away in quiet voices.
"Why are you two so cheerful? I doubt anyone else will be in such a good mood after that trial."
"Sorry to tell you, Espeon, but it looks like those illusions are made for Pokemon only. We didnt feel a thing."
Masking his annoyance, Solaris turned to look down the hall before them, at the end a large red door flickered as if made of living flames.
Well, he supposed that was their destination.
He stepped forward to trot towards it and ran head first into another Pokemon.
"Watch where your going!" A familiar voice snapped, and the Espeon looked up in alarm.
"You! The Raichu from the Pub!"
"Eh, what are you doing here, guild master? Wait- nevermind. I dont care. Just stay out of our way alright. We saw the treasure first."
"Treasure?"
"Yeah, theres this thing on the top floor that a group of shady looking humans were talking about."
"They're here already!?" The human female exclaimed, earning a growl from the Raichu who apparently disliked humans immensely.
Ignoring her outburst for now Solaris began to explain the situation with the Prophecy in an urgent tone.
Hearing that this treasure was some crappy tablet, the Raichu scowled.
"Well thats just great isnt it...all this for nothing."
Solaris frowned at his next request, knowing he'd regret it.
"I'll hire you guys to assist us in getting to it."
"Eh? Hire us? Heh. We dont do guild work, but I suppose since we're here anyways..."

Jazz blinked from behind Shiro, eyes widening. Those mercenary Pokemon again.
Shiro growled and ignored them, keeping Jazz from running over and getting a closer look.

Zen & Vertigo & the Good Doctor & Autumn & Shani

"...Remind me why I decided to do this?" Autumn grumbled, checking herself in the mirror again to make sure she was still beautiful. "I don't know," Zen whispered, shivering slightly, but when he saw Jazz, he smiled brightly. Again. Like he had with anyone he was friends with. "Hey, guys, we'll be fine. It was all illusions," Vert said, holding a tiny book he'd found somewhere. It wasn't very important, but he was reading, which was pretty normal. Shani, meanwhile, was looking around with interest, especially at the two humans' Pokemon. "Look at them, little obedient lapdogs," she sneered, looking at Autumn, who nodded. "They're so...so...tame," she said, adding on, "but that Pachirisu's pretty cute."
The Good Doctor, meanwhile, was standing in a corner, watching what was happening. He looked around for Rune - hey, batshit Rune was crazy but she was still his friend - and, seeing her, brightened and headed in her direction.

Ally + Dante

Ally and Dante slowly approached where Solaris and the humans were standing. Dante narrowed his eyes at the humans' pokémon. "What, are they pets?" he said, disgust filling his voice. "How lame." Ally replied, sitting down near the other teams. With a sigh, Dante took a seat next to her, awaiting news on their next move.

User Image~KewnewUser Image~Grim

Grim and Kewnew joined the group less reluctantly as usual, hating to draw attention to themselves seeing that the Treecko was practically holding Grim up on his feet; but since it seemed everyone else had been through the same hell they had they really didn't stand out much. The mental tole on the Sableye being more than anything he had ever experienced, or at least had not experienced in a long time... It was quite obvious he wasn't up to talking just yet either.

A lone Sceptile followed short behind the Raichu and the rest of the mercs, chuckling to himself slightly as he saw the blazing door before all of them. Even though they didn't have to go through the first 'trial' it seemed that a major fear of his was soon to come anyway.

Natalia xx &&& xx Jenevieve

Jenevieve nudged Natalia a little so she wouldn't fall asleep while the leader was talking with the raichu.
Natalia finally gave up on trying to nap and jumped off Jen's back to try and pay attention. Her eyebrows raised somewhat at the thought of a treasure somewhere in the tower and her mind began to ponder on what it could be. Her eyes then moved over to the trainers, then the pokebals on their belt. She shivered.
Jen too shuddered at the sight of the pokeball. Both girls were a bit sore from the fright on the previous floor.
"No reason to panic." Natalia muttered, jerking her head in the guild leader's direction. "Solaris seems to trust them, so should we."
The Lapras simply nodded and then looked at the two traniers' pokemon. Natalia stared upon them as well. Natalia frowned at them while Jen just sighed. They didn't pay attention to the two creatures for very long, and soon moved their focus to their guild leader and his conversation with the Raichu

Truth xxxx Florandra

It seemed they had met up with the Guild brats. What an interesting turn of events. Not that the black feline was surprised. She had long since known Solaris and his children had infiltrated the Tower. She had just chosen not to tell their little leader. "Come now, Jasper~ No need to be so rude to our customers." The Persian meowed, humor evident in her voice. Turning her attention to Solaris she murmured, "Ah, Solaris. Might as well give a formal introduction for everyone here. I am Truth; the Umbreon's name is Xavier; her name is Florandra." Pausing here she motioned to the disturbingly tall Skarmory who only shifted her weight in response to hearing her name. "And that is, Leon, Lucy, Jonah, and Mugen." she finished, pointing to each in turn before giving a catty grin.

Sinistrad's eyes flickered open and at once he jumped to his legs, staring around in wide-eyed fear and expecting to see more of those disgusting creatures. Thankfully they were gone, but something inside of him was still frightened. Sure, he now knew it was an illusion from listening to the others but still... that had thrown him for a loop. However, he refused to show weakness now that others were about and skittered over near the mercs and humans to await more news. Meanwhile his partner struggled to wakefulness. Rune blinked and sighed when she realized it was all an illusion. Blood no longer soaked her to the bone. Glancing around, she caught sight of the Good Doctor striding towards her. Tears began to well up and she couldn't stop herself from wordlessly running forward to hug tightly to the only place she could reach. His leg.

Solaris---Jasper---Xavier
"Truth! What part of incognito did not you under-" The Raichu's angry shouting was cut off by a loud booming voice from where that large red door was located and suddenly flames erupted down the hall.
Solaris jumped, ready to bolt but the fire didnt seem to hurt, it merely hurtled pas them, blinding them temporarily.
"Hey, where are the humans?" The Espeon chocked out, noticing that in the rush of red and yellow blurs he had not seen them leave.

"I am Guardian of Fire, Keeper of the Trial of Flames. Those with burning hearts, fret not. Ambition is your only friend past these doors."

The red door suddenly burst into flames, revealing an opening into the next room that an intense heat pulsated from.
Stepping for a closer look the Guild Master gasped.

Lava was bubbling across the floor and the only visible pathway was a collection of small jumping stones.
This did no bode well.

Xavier bristled at the voice, it sounded familiar but he wouldnt voice his concern to Jasper.
The Raichu was glowering at the lava pit and slowly began to trot across the stones til his cape dipped into the lava and caught fire.
"s**t!"
He unhooked it and tossed it back to the first stone in annoyance, the silver necklace around his throat, a smll cobalt blue cloud hung from the end of the chain.
Solaris groaned and followed, feeling as though those humans had played a trick on them.
