Oh, nice! Nice! Telling her to stay focused was just like telling her Hey, look over here! Very obligingly, Virgo looked to Zue and Yahya, green eyes curious. Then she had the good grace to flush bright red and go, "Go away, Yahya, I am doing just fine!"

Then she turned around and frowned at the youma as it backed away, frowned at its lashing tail. In a move that was probably the most badass thing she'd done in the entire history of her entire life, she leapt over the tail, planted her two-and-a-half heel in the monster's face and slammed the trash can lid into its back.

The youma exploded, covering most of her end of the alleyway in black gunk.

"Oh, fils de salope," said Virgo, throwing her hands in the air. Her trash can lid was long forgotten. "Merde! Oh, gosh, this will take forever to get out." It was already slaking off her, and thankfully had missed her face and her hair--she'd been protected by the trash can lid, presumably--but still. It was the principle of the thing. Couldn't they, you know, die quietly?...

Of course they couldn't die quietly. Nothing, in the whole of the universe, tended to roll over and expire with a cute little whimper. If Zue had any idea of what she was thinking, he would have taken the opportunity to mock her into submission - but of course, he had other things on his mind.

"No, I don't," Zue replied, his tone a little more feral than he'd meant it to be. Scrabbling to get a hold of the boy before he could slip past, he tried shoving Yahya back, forcing him away from the scene. "Don't be a ********. The only thing you're doing is keeping me from helping in any better way--" his eyes glanced back toward the senshi, and the mess she'd created. "Lucky for all of us, doesn't seem like she needed it this time."

This time. There was just enough growl there, mixed with a sharp glare in the senshi's direction, to inform her that she was in deep s**t. Zue didn't know who he ought to be yelling at first - Yahya for sneaking back this way and putting himself at risk, or Virgo for running around without a partner....

He'd get to them both in time, anyway. Focusing on the one for now, he glowered at Yahya with supreme distaste. "Are you satisfied now?"

He was not in any sort of way, a physical sort of guy, so when Zue grabbed him and shoved him back, he didn't struggle. He didn't want to fight with the cat-person, he just wanted past him so he could be of some help to the girl taking on the monster all by herself. That was the reason why he wasn't fighting with Sue, instead looking for a way around the other boy. "I'm not preventing you in any way from helping her!" he cried out in exasperation. Was there no way to convince this guy just to let him through?

Apparently not, or rather, Virgo managed to take care of the youma by herself, evidenced by the black, inky explosion that now coated the walls of the alleyway. He was surprised, and couldn't quite believe what he was seeing. Had she really just taken down that creature all by herself? She'd need congratulating...

His attention was forced back to the cat-man, and Yahya had to grind his teeth together with frustration (also to keep him from saying something that was decidedly not-nice - after all, the both of them had just wanted to help out). "You don't have to say it like that," he retorted, feeling a little defensive. All he had wanted to do was help - why was everyone so adamantly against it? Was it so bad to want to help out another human being?

"I'm happy she's okay - you could have just let me help, anyways." He did feel a little sour about it, but some things couldn't be helped. Yahya really did not want to argue over this, but he couldn't hide that he was upset as well. Of course, he wasn't as visual about it as Sue, but he was a little mad too.

He looked over Zue's shoulder to Virgo, double-checking to make sure that she really was okay. There, that was one of the people he was initially --

Oh.

"I'm not going to avoid helping someone if they need it," he informed the cat-person, a final declaration that he wasn't going to sit around and watch someone get hurt. It had occurred to him just then that by now Sue would be waiting for him at the high school, and Yahya wouldn't be there. If this cat-man was mad, Sue would be one-hundred times more.

Yahya had to get back.

Now.

He just had to get close enough to the school that he could make up some legitimate excuse (like, oh hey Sue, I tripped and fell on my way, but I'm okay!). With one last, determined look at Zue, Yahya turned around to head back to the school. Hopefully he wasn't late enough for Sue to notice...

She frowned back, her green eyes narrow as she took off her gloves and threw them at the monster's gunky remains. Fine! He should go away. She would go over there and drop her henshin, maybe. Gosh, did Zue have no favorable thoughts of her competence at all? He was a cat, she was a Zodiac, and once he'd been one of them, but...

Virgo felt bad. She had liked Zue before he had become Sue-zue; and now she was so mad at him because he was going to lecture her, just because of the guy Zue had chosen to be reborn in. That was unfair of her, and kind of mean.

Aaand now they were talking about her like she wasn't there. She tossed her blue hair, turned and walked back then with her head held high. "I'm glad you're okay, Yahya," she remembered to say, heels clicking as she rounded into another alleyway and up to a rooftop.

Zue found himself standing alone in the alley, watching both of the ******** that needed yelling at running away. In two different directions. Son of a--

There wasn't time to consider which one to go after now. In his head, he could trace the line of Virgo's retreat. She could run, but never hide - he'd get to her later, and they'd be having an especially frustrated chat then. But Yahya was less easy to trace - if he wanted a chance to tell the boy off for his idiocy, it would have to be now.

Or, as the case turned out to be, about a minute from now, at the home stretch to the school from the crime scene. As Yahya was turning the corner on to the main road, the first thing he would see would be Sue - apparently walking away from the school in angry, short steps, having caught on to the fact that his friend was going to be very late.

"You jackass!" Sue was yelling before he even came near. "You went back! You went back!"

Yahya skidded to a halt after having rounded a corner, only to see his friend very clearly catching on to the fact that Yahya had made a detour. The student glanced over his shoulder, very much contemplating running back in the opposite direction of Sue. Sue was very, very mad, and Yahya was very, very un-confrontational. Anxiously he backed up, making it so that he was partly hiding behind the building he had just rounded. Right... he was a complete and total coward when it came to Sue being upset with. He'd say 'I'm sorry!', but that would have been a lie. And friends did not lie to friends.

"I-I dropped my pen?" Okay, so that was a lie, he was contradicting himself now. But, it wasn't as big of a lie as saying that he was sorry. "But Sue, I had to!" Ah, he was giving up on making excuses entirely. He was still going to... somewhat hide behind this building for his own protection. Undoubtedly Sue would reach him, but he was hoping that the longer it took Sue the more time it gave his friend to calm down.

He glanced at the distance between them, and his stomach twisted in nervous knots. Right, Sue wasn't far away, and he was VERY angry. "You know I had to! I couldn't... leave her to fight on her own! What if she had gotten hurt? Sue..."

Yahya was worried.

That Virgo.

Might be the one to get hurt.

Sue's head was dangerously close to exploding. His brains were boiling over with the heat of his rage. "Y... you ******** dumbass. You dumbass! YOU. DO NOT. PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER LIKE THAT." Low profile? No, no, Sue wasn't keeping one. Anyone on the street could hear his hollering now, and his volume was only going to get louder the longer this conversation went on. "SHE IS NOT A ******** STRAY. You got that? You understand what that ******** means? She chooses to put herself at risk. She does not need ******** SAVING!"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 04, 2010 8:40 am

Yahya was trying to avoid making Sue even more upset, but whatever he said only seemed to double... crap, it tripled Sue's rage. It was probably wiser to keep his mouth shut and let Sue burn out, but he couldn't exactly let his friend scream and holler at him for an hour. One, it was bad for Sue's vocal chords, and two... well, someone would eventually try to get Sue to stop. Yahya would much prefer it was himself. "Sue!" he cried out in exasperation, desperately trying to think of what to say to make his friend calm down. "Anyone could need saving! Just because she chose to put herself in danger doesn't mean she's suddenly IMPENETRABLE and can't get hurt! She could, and if she got hurt I wanted to be there to try and keep her from getting killed!"

Why couldn't Sue see reason? Yahya only wanted to help, and look, he was fine! Really, there was hardly a scratch on him. He had come out of it in one piece, one happy, perfectly not-killed piece. "I'm going to put myself in danger if there's the chance I can help someone, and I know you don't like that, but how can I sit around and let someone get hurt? Would you be able to do it?"

He was trying to be reasonable, the only reason he was upset was not because of the insults Sue was throwing his way, nor how Sue tried to tell him what to do, but simply because Sue was upset himself. Sue was mad at him, and that was all it took for Yahya to feel bad too. That still didn't mean he was backing down. Sorry, Sue.

Virgo hadn't really been following them, she had just been walking back towards Crystal and she heard this argument. She stopped where she was, just out of sight, and listened: It was Sue and Yahya, and they were fighting--over her? Over whether Yahya should have come back or not?

Well, of course he shouldn't have. He was human, and squishy, and he needed to be protected. That was why Virgo came out in this skimpy little outfit, to protect humans like him. She wanted to keep them safe! It sometimes seemed like humans didn't want to be kept safe, though, which made her worry...

She couldn't just let them fight like this. Sue and Yahya were friends. They shouldn't fight over something as stupid as her well-being. Virgo henshined down, leaving Elke Arma in her Crystal uniform and a heavy peacoat shivering in the alleyway. Moving quickly--gosh, why didn't she look more chilled!--she walked towards the pair of boys.

"Yahya!" Elke smiled, brightly, waving with one hand. "Sue! What are you guys doing out so late?"

The force of her smile was blinding.

Sue was going to have a stroke. Seriously - right there, right then. If Yahya thought he could calm Sue down by being honest and forthright about his intentions, instead of succumbing and promising to do exactly what Sue wanted, he was to be sadly mistaken. He just didn't get it! Sue knew better, damn it. Not just because of what he was was, but because of what he remembered. Yahya wasn't supposed to be caught up in these things - he'd had to do it once, and that had been terrible enough. The Barren Pines battle was ended - Yahya wasn't going a part of the goddamned war, not if Sue had anything to say about it!

Inspiration suddenly struck. There needed to be an ultimatum. Yahya needed to understand that Sue wasn't laughing up his sleeve about this s**t - he was serious, the other boy shouldn't be involved. He was just opening his mouth to deliver his final word, when Elke suddenly appeared on the street, smiling that dopey smile, asking her inane question. He knew that it was all for Yahya's benefit, of course, but Sue never had been very fond of theatre; his reaction to her arrival was instantly, genuinely sour.

"Could ask the same of you," he growled softly. For a moment though, he wasn't pressing the offensive against Yahya - maybe that could be an opportunity for reason to set in? Hard to say, with Sue....

He was saved!

Elke earned the most grateful, most loving and adoring and PRAISING expression that had ever been earned from Yahya. It was an expression he usually reserved for the animals he loved and cared for at the rescue center, but this was a different, special occasion. Elke had got Sue to stop yelling, had been the perfect intervention, and Yahya was so thankful. If Sue had continued to yell at him... Well, Yahya would only have felt worse and worse, and it was so unmanly to cry in front of his best friend (even when said best friend was screaming at him).

"Going for a walk!" he exclaimed, a little too happily. He was just really, really relieved that Elke had come to save the day. He would kiss her if it was appropriate. But, it wasn't, and he was very sure that kissing was something he considered to be rather awkward. "And..." he paused, glancing uncertainly to Sue.

Yeah, he still looked upset, but Yahya honestly had no clue how to make him feel better. The more Yahya spoke, the more upset his friend became. So... he tried a different approach, which consisted of tentatively walking to Sue's side with the most innocent and sincerely 'I'll be good for right now!' expression he could muster (he couldn't guarantee he'd be good beyond tonight, because he did still stand firm on the fact that he was going to protect anyone he could).

"Grayson had an unexpected guest," she said, blushing and hunching her shoulders together because she was lying. It could be misconstrued as embarrassment over who the guest had been. She hoped it was being misconstrued. That would be nice. "So I decided, 'Hey! Staying over might not be such a good idea, self! and I was like, you're right, self, it wouldn't be!" Helping the 'Grayson has a boyfriend image'? Not at all!

She tossed her hair, turned the smile on Yahya. "Awesome," she said brightly, "are you going home now, Yahya?"
