"Yeah!" Izzy yelped, slowly going back to building their castle, "Maybe they'll make babies!" She was a girl and Zach was a boy, so it made sense to have a boy and a girl dragon too, right?
"I have no obligation to love other people's children," Henri chuckled, still looking up into the sun, "and you've only seen Isabella at her very best. She loves your little...s**t, did you say?"

"Maybe," Zach agreed, though internally he made quite the face. Babies were gross! "But it'll be awesome, Izzy."
"He's a little s**t, and you know it." Rene snorted. "Tell me, what horrible evils does Izzy do?"

Izzy nodded.
"Did you ask if they can go on land? because I did and the lady said they could, but she didn't know for how long, so I hope they can go as long as it takes you to get to my house so they can play together," she said resolutely, "My dragon's gonna live in the ocean. Daddy said so."
"Izzy...ah. Hmm. She. Well." Henri arched a brow at himself. Did he really have a princess?
"She's loud. And messy. Sometimes she decides to paint or draw on the walls."

"I dunno where dragon will live." Zach said. Hmmmm.... "Hafta see!" His dragon would live somewhere awesome, that was for sure!

Izzy nodded.
"Maybe we can make a really big cee-ment castle for them to live in when they visit. That'd be cool." Right? A big cement castle in the middle of the ocean!

"We'll build them the best damn castle ever," Zach agreed. Yep!
"Eh, things are... better." Rene shrugged, not wanting to get into it. But things were indeed brighter!

Izzy nodded, beginning to dig a moat around their wonderful structure. The baby octopus had made it to the shore by now. Aha, sweet escape! Izzy put a crab in the moat.
"So if anyone falls in they get eated."
Henri nodded. That was good enough for him.
"Good, I'm glad." He gave Rene's hand a little squeeze, and then retracted again, just in case. "You deserve it."

"Very good sea monster." Zach nodded. Oh yes! He started mashing some sand into what his mind said were gun things, to attack anyone who'd come near.
"Psssh," Rene snorted, punching his upper arm. "Don't be nice. I'm not used to it."

"You can come over here if you want," Rene whacked him lightly with a middle wing. "You're too damn nice."

Izzy just giggled.
"Tried to find a chiton," pronounced properly now, "but I couldn't. And the jellies still sting, so Daddy doesn't let me touch them."
Henri tried to move his chair but, finding it sunken too far in the sand, lunged his top half over at Rene and prodded her in the nose.
"Maybe I will."

"Yes." Zach looked at her seriously. "They sting, cuz that's what they do. And it hurts real bad, Izzy, so you shouldn't touch them."
"You can be Queen Izzy. I'll be Zach, and I'll guard you from jellies."
Rene laughed at him and swiped at him with her wings. Soft, soft wings. "Is that you trying to be mean?"

"You can be the king! Kings are big and strong and go to war to protect the Queen." Right? Like a knight, but better!
Henri pouted at Rene a bit, and then his smile returned.
"No, but that feels very pleasant," he laughed.

Henri laughed and covered his head.
"Pitié! Pitié! S'il vous plaît!"
Izzy turned suddenly, thinking something was wrong.
"Père?!" And then she just laughed.
"Maybe your mommy will marry my daddy and you can be my brother," she said offhandedly, shoving the crab back down into the moat.
