Neither spider nor man had anytime to think in those few brief moments. For Zeke, watching the color drain from his sister's face until she was paper white caused a tightening sensation in his chest. Before he could even begin to wonder, the word was uttered and his head instantly turned to look where she pointed. He saw the black form resting on the dark green material and automatically his arm raised his hand and wiped the creature off. On her end of the spectrum, the widow barely regained her footing before that hand swept her up and away. Her small but able fangs didn't even have time to bite into that light colored flesh before she was tumbling down through the air. Her mouth parts chattered out a cry only she could hear, but before she knew it she was - for the first time - staring at her own reflection. For that split second (if it even was that long) she saw everything; eight eyes, small fangs, chitinous exoskeleton...But then, there was nothing. Her face, body, limbs, everything plastered against the hand-warmed glass surface. Blackness engulfed her. There was no pain even as her entire being exploded on contact with the soul bottle. One moment was all it took to snuff out one year's worth of life.

Latrodectus hesperus was dead before she and the bottle reached the ground.

"Holy s**t." The words were said in awe and surprise, Zeke's jaw hanging open. His attention was on the bottle that hadn't so much as even bounced when it made contact with the linoleum floor. "And you bet your nonexistent a** it was! Ha! Did you see...Oh my god Alex." Zul's words caused the veterinarian to turn around, his face draining of that shock and rapidly replacing with great amounts of amusement. His smile was stretching across his face, but that was exchanged for a grin at Alex's expression and as that high-pitched shriek ripped through the air.

Zeke lost it.

Time had slowed in those few split seconds of her action and over-eagerness to rid the world of the spider, but now that the world was back on track what first appeared was just too much. Zeke doubled over at the waist; the hand that had brushed the spider off was now firmly curled and holding his stomach while its brother banged a few times on the surface of the desk. The bi-color haired man's face was twisted and screwed up thanks to the pure laughter that was bubbling up from the spot his hand now held. Hot and stinging tears leaked from his eyes, causing them to pinch shut though the image of Alex's dance was forever burned into his mind's eye. Soon enough though, Zeke was struggling to breathe - it was just TOO funny! - and the hand that was banging on the desktop was pressed over his lips. The action didn't do much for his laugh as air slipped past the spaces between his fingers and made it hiss more than air leaking from a tire.

"That was...That was..." He tried to say, but laughter kept coming up and choking off his words. He kept looking at Alex, watching that dance and her horror, and he was unable to stop another round from taking over. The younger man's face was pretty much scarlet now and while the heat was growing there, he wasn't minding in the slightest. Those sprung-up tears began to roll down his cheeks and he could only shake his head. "Oh god, I gotta go that way," He nodded toward the door leading farther into the Lab itself. "Because...Because I may have to pee a lil bit."

Moving from the spot was easier said than done but Zeke finally did it. "I'll take this for ya sis." He was snickering, reaching down and grabbing the soul glass by its metal top. "Calm down or else I'll suffocate to death!" He pulled the bottle at an angle, starting to move as he did so. Even with all the sounds filling the room, he could still hear the bottle with its new authentic spider sticker peeling off the floor. What remained at that spot was a faintly oblong circle of gooey guts and small bits of chitin, but otherwise the rest of the spider was stuck on the glass. The veterinarian left the lobby, though his laughter still echoed down the hall to the two remaining. Each door was looked at in turn, though he was feeling that wet pressure that yes, he did have to pee a lil bit because of that totally out of character display. Luckily, the bathroom wasn't too far away and he quickly shut himself up in it.

"Oh god, that was home movie material." He said as he moved first towards the sink. He did his best to suppress his laughter in this room and in response his chest and shoulders shook heartily instead. He had to bend over as he turned the faucet on full and warm. Breathing was really hard now, but he forced himself to look up, sniffling as he did so and plugging the hole in the wash basin with the metal stopper piece. "C'mon, c'mon, really do gotta go now." He did his own little jig as the sink filled, the sound of water moving everything in him south. Once it was deep enough (for him at least), Zeke shut off the faucet, dropped the bottle in, and took off toward the opposite side of the restroom.

While the vet was occupied with that, the bottle half-floated in the sink. The warm water began to loosen the corpse that clung to its surface but even with that in effect, the bottle was able to work its magic. Within moments, black smoke with hints of red mixed in began to pour into the bottle from that spot where the black widow's body was pressed. Though her body had been small her soul was able to fill the glass entirely, and by the time the roar of the flushing was heard, the bottle was filled and the spider's body was adrift in the lukewarm water.

Zeke returned with a sigh of relief on his lips, moving to the sink next to the one the soul bottle bobbed in. Hands were washed with a doctor's care and the veterinarian splashed some on his face to ease the hot red from his cheeks. His chest, stomach, and face hurt like hell but he kept on chuckling at his own reflection. Soon, though, the swirl of the widow's soul caught his attention and with raised brows he pulled the glass from the filled basin.

Well what do ya know? The thought of getting this back to Alex to show her what she did - though he wasn't mad, just amused to high heaven - took over any other, including the offhanded thought to maybe pick the body out of the sink before he pulled the stopper up and drained the water. Paper towels wiped off both his hands and the filled orb at once, switching sides carefully when one side was clear to mop the other. With a clang from the trash bin and an opening creak from the door, Zeke was out of the bathroom and practically skipping back down the way he came.

"Oh Aaaaaaallllllleeeeeex, dear sister of mine.~" His words were chirped and sing song, sliding around the corner with the bottle held behind him. His smile got catty then, pulling the bottle out before them all with the amazingly unbroken - or even cracked - glass bottom pointing directly at the older woman. The black and faintly red smoke curled lazily; almost in a confused manner if one were to stop and really study it. "That was really easy, wasn't it?"

"Shut up!" the woman snapped, but she could hardly be called angry. Embarrassed? You betcha! Alex did a few more steps and shiver to the dance before she crossed her arms stubbornly over her chest, her back turned to the bottle as if refusing to look at the mess she'd made somehow made it nonexistent. "Both of you, you're mean!" Oh, she was certain she'd never hear the end of it, but damnit, those little buggers were scary! The first thing she was going to do was demand the Lab be fumigated to make sure no more little bundles of death fell on her desk! She had a few unsavory words to growl at her brother as he mentioned having to use the facilities, to which she pointed vaguely and scowled at the opposite wall.

The demon was right there laughing with Zeke. If anything, the man's reaction only made the situation that much more humorous; for some reason, being told 'you bet your nonexistent a**' was really tickling his funny bone. He imagined that's where the phrase 'laughing your a** off' came from, but he certainly didn't have the capacity to think on it while Zeke was all but dying on the desk and his woman was pretending she didn't just shriek like a little girl. Zul continued to laugh as the man wiped his tears and composed himself enough to pick up the bottle, his efforts only making Alex shudder and spurring the demons mirth. He was certain if he continued to laugh this hard, he was going to force himself to grow a stomach just so he could bend like Zeke had.

He didn't have the ability to shed tears, and thus his mirth was limited in how it was expressed, but he retained his lop-sided, devilish grin and vibrantly amused glow in his eyes as he rested a hand on the woman's shoulder. More laughter was barely stifled as she jumped, giving him a hard glare over his hand. "Wipes," was all he managed to squeeze out without bursting into laughter again, clenching his teeth together as hard as he could to make sure he didn't bellow that laughter in her face. The Frei floated patiently while she swiped the small tube of cleaning wipes off the corner of the front desk, snickering as she all but shoved them into his chest and resumed her pouting. "'Lix, don't be so mad," he chuckled as he turned back towards the mess, vaguely hearing the sound of running water down the hall. "It's nice to know you are human after all."

Leaving her to puzzle over his words, he popped the yellow top open and seized one of the citrus smelling wipes, whisking his ribbon back and lowering himself to the floor to clean the smeared remains. The demon cleaned slow and thorough, the occasional chortle or bit-back laughter wafting between the Raevan and his work.

Alex, for her part, was just trying not to lose her marbles. She had hurled a soul bottle at a spider! HURLED. Like a baseball! She might laugh about it later that night, but in that moment, she was mortified that she could have potentially damaged the precious object or hurt Zeke if her aim was off. The bottle had seemed fine though, cushioned by the fat body it had painted on the floor; the mental image made her lip curl and her nose crinkle with disgust. Spiders. They were pure ickiness with eight legs, and she was quite grateful no one had managed to catch one of--

Black and red.

The Italian sucked in a strangled breath, whirling around to stare at the floor where the bottle had been as though she were daring the floor to spit it up. Her heart skipped a few beats, but she was certain the smear hadn't filled the bottle. No, it had just stuck - there'd been no swirl, no color to indicate the thing had been caught. Alex felt like she was on pins and needles, green eyes turning widely down the hallway. "Did he fall in?" she grumbled, worry making her somewhat irritable. She had to know for sure that what she had brutally murdered wasn't a female black widow. Please don't be, she begged whatever deity was listening, though she could already feel karma's cold fingers on the back of her neck as she caught sight of Zeke's skipping form. Please...

The sing-song words reached her ears, but worse than that was the swollen black and blood curl within the bowels of the bottle.

"Cazzo!" Alex blurted out in mingled rage and frustration. No, no freaking way was she going to let a SPIDER be fused with the virus! "Adesso sono veramente fottuto," she mumbled, practically tripping over her own two feet to face the desk again, ripping out one of the multi-colored sticky notes and seizing a black pen. "Vedova nera?" Her writing was rapid and clearly written in her block-style, scowling with enough venom to melt the wood right off the desk. "Col cazzo."

Almost knocking her amused Frei over as he tried to peer at what she wrote, she snatched the bottle out of Zeke's hands (by the top, of course, she wouldn't touch the bottom part) and almost flung it into the briefcase. The metal top was closed and latched, the sticky note smacked right on top of the metal case with a satisfied nod.

"Kyou -

This soul needs to be released.
Don't ask, don't tell. My mistake.

- A"

"C'mon," she growled to the two grinning males, tucking the briefcase under her arm and pushing past them to stalk down the hall. "I'll take you to Kyou's room and resume the tour...and get you a new damn soul bottle when this one is cleaned out."

Zeke hadn't the foggiest idea what the Italian woman was saying in her mother-tongue but any random guess that included 'she's swearing' was likely correct in his mind. Regardless though, once the note was being scribbled and the bottle was out of his clean hands, the younger human took a couple steps away from her form to hang back by Zul. If laughing at her made her embarrassed beyond belief, showing up with the soul bottle filled to the tippy-top of its glass base would likely make her furious on the same scale. Zeke flinched as her hand came down on the now-latched case, the smacking sound echoing around the room much like the boisterous laughter had just moments ago but hitting him full in the face first.

"Lead the way, ace, we'll follow you where ever you go!" He winked at the Frei who had been pushed away from him by Alex's storming off, taking the demon's hand and swinging both it and his own in a wide arc as he took off after her. Despite the initial start of this chain of events, everything was going to end on a positive note. The seriousness, the stress, the realization of what was likely to come was put on the back burner as he pulled Zul down the hall after the Frei's fuming guardian. It wouldn't come back until later tonight and the veterinarian would be grateful later on for that fact. Alex would be sure the spider's soul would be released and he'd get a new one soon after. He'd find something docile, maybe he would get that ladybug if he was given the black and red clothed bottle back after the fact. But for now...Just happiness really.

"Hey sis, how about after this is all over, we go for dinner? You pick the place, I'll foot the bill, and I won't take 'no' for an answer." He spoke up as he reached her side, the bounce in his step prevalent and he almost couldn't settle down to place a hand on her shoulder as he spoke. "It's the perfect way to talk about getting you signed up for the major leagues as a pitcher!" Once more he was overcome with laughter, bubbly chuckles this time instead of those rambunctious bellows which would likely save his a** just a little space free of bruising when she started to beat him over it.

She would never live this moment down, and he would pull out all the stops to rib her heartily for it forevermore.

Alex was clearly still fuming even after he spoke up about his offer, though like he said, he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. After his stomach stopped aching, a hearty meal would be just the thing to end off this rather wild day. Until then though, he would follow her around like a second shadow and tug Zul right along with him; eagerness to explore this new but familiar smelling place to its fullest. He didn't have to wait long either, their first destination was here.

As the Italian woman let herself into Dr. Kyou's room, Zeke padded in after her, pausing just inside the door. He took a good look at the office, impressed by the various bits of furniture and the things that lined or covered them. His attention just grazed some books on a shelf when the sound of metal setting down on wood pierced the quiet, causing the younger man to jump though it was rather expected. His sister made sure said case was square in the center of the absent doctor's desk before coming back towards him to continue. The vet nodded to her and this time moved out himself and the demonic Frei out of the way before she could push by or part them.

"Now where to?" He questioned. The door was left open so Zeke hastily grabbed the knob and yanked it shut. It was weightier than it appeared and shut with a resounding slam. "Ah-hah...Let's go!" He said before anything else could be, starting up once again and quickening his steps to catch up with the Italian spitfire. As Zeke led Zul down the hall, the loud bang of the door meeting the frame wasn't the only thing that happened as a result. Inside the now-closed room, the sweep of air from the door as it passed by rolled over Dr. Kyou's desk. A strong door with a powerful gust if one were a piece of paper, and the post-it note Alex pressed to the suitcase's forefront could not hold on at all. The adhesive strip tore cleanly away from the metal case and left no trace before it flew across the room on that man-made breeze. As the gust died down and finally off completely, it floated to the floor where it then slid beneath one of the heavy cabinets. Out of sight and out of mind.
